Hi Annie...lovely to meet you! You have a great incentive to lose some pounds before June!
one of my biggest regrets is being Mother of the Bride and looking nice but fat ( no other word for it)...in a lovely outfit but not what i'd have chosen if i' d been slinkier...a wonderful day but i wasnt as comfortable as i' d have liked with all eyes on me ( i walked DD down the aisle)..plus its captured forever on wedding pics / vids..gahhh!
Since then,i lost two stone on 5:2 then put it back on(!) ..have now re lost over a stone..
Have got plenty to lose,am deffo fat,was still fat when i lost that two stone... reluctant to reveal my actual weight to anyone, but am similar weight and height as you...
When i was feeling very low last year,i began this thread..well worth a read....xx

Ps lovely photo by the way x
Hi @anniep
I started 5:2 at the beginning of May 2013. I don't know what my start weight was because I didn't own any scales but yes, I was fat. After a couple of weeks I plucked up the courage to go to Boots and step on the scales. I still have the print out! With clothes on (obviously) I weighed in at 14st 5lbs and I am 5' 1". My BMI was 37.2 so obsese. Somewhere around September 2014 I reached my target of 10 stone and have been maintaining since then. Lowest recorded weight was November 2014 (9st 8lb) but I generally hover just under my target weight at around 9st 12lb. With a BMI of around 26 I'm technically still overweight but I'm happy with where I am and don't want to lose anymore. Oh and I own some scales now and jump on them every morning!
Good luck from an ex fattie who intends to keep it that way
Read your fastonbury glamping thread CandiceMarie. Loved it and it was interesting to read how differently people view their weight problem. All I know is, I call fat, fat, much like I call a spade, a spade!
Wow, Noodle, you have done so well and I too would be happy with 9st 8lbs, that sounds fab. You started at around my size and weight so you inspire me.
Well, onwards and downwards hopefully. I'm doing O.K. today on my first fast day, no food so far and feeling good :)
Good luck annie with yr first fasting day..cheering you on.

Let us know how it goes!
There's a fasting thread every single day " Fasting Today" where we keep each other going
It really helps to know that others are fasting at the same time
I agree with you that @noodle is a big inspiration for us xx
Hi @anniepI'm almost the same as you. I'm 5'3 and when I started fasting in November 2012 I was 14 st 7 with a BMI of 35.88. ( obese) My weight loss has never been fast and gets progressively slower but I have just broken through the 11 stone barrier and my BMI is now 27.2. This has all been done with basic 5:2. I now try and stick to 400 calories on fasting days as my TDEE is just over 1600. I eat mindfully the rest of the time and after years of dieting my cooking tends to be low fat but nothing is barred on my normal days and I enjoy a drink at weekends. So it can be done you've just got to stick with it doggedly.
I also empathise with the sentiment of your title. There do seem to be quite a lot of people with BMIs in the low 20s posting about their difficulties in losing weight and I think if only.......
Thanks for the cheering CandiceMarie, it's helping 'cos I haven't eaten yet :)
I'm really impressed with your weight loss and determination Lil, you've done brilliantly. What you've achieved certainly inspires me to keep going and I hope that at some point, I can post results like yours. I daren't fail now with all these people cheering me on! Thanks everyone.
I started at 245lb and a BMI of 40.82. So yes I was quite a lot fat and now I am a bit fat at 185.5lb. I've lost59.5lb in 58 weeks.
I get where your coming from when someone posts that they want to lose weight and my goal weight is bigger but build and height play a part I think.
@anniep, The photo in your avatar shows a beautiful mature woman. If that is you, I would suggest you not think that your appearance in the wedding pictures no matter what you weight would be a negative to those who love you, who I would assume include the bride and groom whose photos these will be.

That doesn't mean that you might not have reasons to lose weight, but I hate it when people's reasons for losing weight ultimately boil down to self-hatred. The more you love and appreciate yourself as you are, the easier it is to take the steps that can lead to weight loss. If you join in with the chorus of ugly voices in your head you are more likely to run into trouble with the diet as those voices will be doing all they can to increase your self-hatred and convince you you don't have what it takes succeed.

So lose weight because you will feel better if you do, or because you lust to wear some dress you can't fit, but don't lose weight because hateful small minded people might judge how you look in any photo. Really!
@anniep - you're definitely not alone - I'm over 200lb and my BMI - well let's not go there!

I am fat but I take solace in that I am relatively FIT! I'm not putting exercise off until I'm slim. To me that's almost as important as what the scales say.

So long as we all keep helping each other along and don't have a fat person's pity party we'll be fine I'm sure!

Well done Brand-ie, you've done brilliantly too. I'm really annoyed with myself that I stumbled and fell and stayed down for so long. If I'd have stuck at the plan, by today, I'd probably have been somewhere near my target weight. Ho-hum, no-one to blame but myself but now I'm determined. I'll catch you up Brand-ie, you see if I don't :)

Wow, peebles, very philosophical. I don't really hate myself at all, in fact, I think I'm quite nice! What I do hate is the way I look from the neck down especially when I know it's all my own doing. I don't think any of the guests at my daughter's wedding are small-minded and they probably wouldn't even notice my size. However, I feel uncomfortable and unfit and hate that I can't wear some of the nice clothes I have in my wardrobe so they're the main reasons I want to shed the pounds. I know how much better I feel in every way when I'm slimmer so I'm hoping to feel that way again. The wedding is incidental really. Thank you for your complimentary remarks and your encouragement, they are much appreciated.

Madcatlady, love the name because I too am a mad cat lady. I only have one boy now but have had many over the years. Thank you for your message and I hope we can both succeed in our aim to whittle down the flab and the BMI.
@anniep catching you late. These wonderful people have inspired me, my goal may be less - but overall we are searching wellbeing and that arrives in many different ways. :victory:  :like: Welcome to you  look forward to a good time on the forum with you. :clover: :clover: :clover: :clover:
Hi anniep, there's lots of us out here! Interesting reading the posts. All my life I've joined forums and come in when people seemed to have lost all their weight. So I've felt very lonely. However this morning I just weighed myself and you and I weigh the same! So let's keep each other going. I too eat only in the evening. Yesterday was my fast day after a week of not really doing it properly. I have a Fitbit one which counts my activity level and calorie burn so it's keeping me motivated. My problem is on non fast days. I've come to the conclusion that those days are actually the hardest for me! So I've resorted to counting my calories!!

Good luck and hopefully we can post some good results here very soon. I'm 5.7 by the way. So very much like you x
Just keep at it @anniep! - it isn't a quick fix but it really does work - in June I'll have been 5 2 ing for 2 years and I'm still not at target - but I plod on :-)

Lots of useful tips and support on this forum too - when I started it was reading the stories of those who had already succeeded (like@carorees) that kept me motivated.
@anniep well from another perspective...no I'm not fat and only once was I obese, however, starting something like this only just overweight can also make one feel an outsider. It is far more interesting to read/look at photos of someone losing 40kg than someone losing 9kg or 6kg, (but the last 5kg can be quite diffcult) and almost feel you needed to be bigger to be included. I am not feeling sorry for myself, not in my DNA  however I just want to point out that everyone has their issues, we all feel disappointed with ourselves when we don't follow through. The reality of this forum is that everyone wants everyone to succeed, to get healthy, to feel good that they have done the hard yards and come out feeling better. Lots of us have fallen off the wagon and like me managed to climb back on. But for me it's a struggle to stay at goal weight, not creep back up and up and end up in no mans land again. Finally I knew those crisp eaters had to be Poms not Aussies LOL. GOOD LUCK YOU WILL SUCCEED!
Thank you again all you lovely people who have commented and good luck to all of you too.
I completed my fast day yesterday with no problems and so far today, I'm doing well. I really feel committed to this plan again and it's a lot to do with the support of other people so thanks everyone.
Tutti, I will be keeping an eye on you as our starting point is the same. Good luck us!
