I'm not trying to be insulting because I am actually fat! I'd love to know if there is anyone else out there who is over 200lbs and has a large number BMI. Every post I read seems to have been posted by someone who is the size I'd love to be! If you've all reached that weight by using this WoE, I congratulate you and I hope I can achieve the same. I'd love there to be someone out there to compare with who is struggling around my sort of size, just for inspiration and help really.
I started 5:2 over two years ago and was doing very well, in fact, lost 2 stone. Then friends from Australia came to stay for 3 months. They had to have three substantial meals every day and snacks every night. They would come in with chocolates and crisps etc. ready for the evenings tv viewing and no matter how hard I tried, I was eventually worn down. I have been off the wagon ever since, much to my disgust and disappointment.
I really am quite determined to get back to how I was before but I definitely need that inspiration. I have to look half decent by June as my daughter is getting married and I don't want to ruin the photographs!
Hi Annie
I did chuckle when I read your post as I know what you mean. I also would like to compare ny journey with someone who is "actually fat". It is hard, when all you ever read are about people who have less than 28lbs to lose. I feel quite alone sometimes.
Well I'm in the same boat as you. I currently weigh 256lbs. I have been fasting (5:2) for 6 weeks. I started at 263lb. My metabolic rate is truly messed up, I had it measured and I was told to lose weight I'd need to eat less than 1008 calories a day. Like many females, I have done every single diet plan and fad diet out there. And I decided in January. Enough is enough.
Initially, I was doing quite well on the 5:2 and then for some unknown reason I put on nearly 6lb last week! But I'm not letting that throw me, as I am enjoying thus WoE.
What about you?
Hi @Anniep my BMI is overweight and that overweight is all fat!! You know how to do it so you can do it again.
Sorry it was us Australians that tipped you off the wagon - we're a nice lot, really
Thanks for the reply Wineoclock and the encouragement. I think I'm a bit more than overweight but hopefully I can get down to that! Our food-loving friends are actually English but they've lived in Australia for donkeys years and yes, I know you are a nice lot, we do have some Aussie friends too.
Hi @anniep. I started at ~192 lbs in March 2013. 9 months later, I was at ~138 lbs. You can do it. Get back on the wagon.

I did 4:3, but I think there are plenty here who lost a similar amount doing 5:2.

p.s. you look lovely in your avatar picture. I don't think you need to worry about ruining photographs!
My starting BMI was 43.9 and I got down to 35.5 in November. I've been having health issues, and I'm up a few pounds, but I'm expecting that won't be for long. :-)
I was obese when I started nearly 2 years ago. Now I'm just a little bit over weight. You have to start somewhere, and the only way is down.
Hi @anniep.

No, I'm no longer fat, but I could be again, if I took the eye off the ball.
Good luck with your journey.

Bracken :clover:
Hi,
Not being funny but there are plenty of 'fat' people out here. When I started this I weighed 196lbs - BMI around 33 so not just overweight but obese. In my life at my heaviest I was about 230lbs (at 5'4) and have struggled with my weight since I was about 8 or 9. I'm now not overweight but that's a first for me and like @brackenif I take my eye off the ball I'll be fat again.
No, I'm not, although I do still have fat round my abdomen. I guess that people won't necessarily agree about what being "actually fat" means because how we perceive ourselves compared to other people is so subjective.
Also... When I first heard about 5:2 (spring 2013) I became interested in the suggested possible health benefits of fasting (as opposed to weight management), and there was lots of discussion on here about that.
Good luck with giving it another go! :clover:
I started of at 191lbs and am now hovering around a healthy BMI but my body fat percentage is nowhere near healthy. My weight is also starting to creep back up as I am not as strict as I used to be which confirms that this is a rest of life way of eating. For me it doesn't matter whether we have 100lbs to lose or only 10lbs we are all in this together. Good luck and keep posting.
I started off in April 2014 with an obese BMI (208lbs/5ft 7in); am now a bit over 180lbs. I'm still losing, albeit very slowly. I consider this my "last chance" (assuming angels don't descend and make me perfect! ), so will continue with this WOL for the rest of my life, regardless of whether I lose another pound. Since I had resigned myself to being fat (and worse, difficulty walking), that I've discovered this WOL is a bonus I hadn't expected, and I'm not wasting the opportunity! Almost all of my remaining extra weight is abdominal (I'm a very short-waisted apple, yuck), so I would like to lose that to optimize my health. Welcome back to 5:2!

Just a note: it seems to me that this WOL works better for those who are significantly "fat"; not as good for getting from normal to truly skinny. Just an observation...
I agree with @MaryAnn @Anniep you look lovely in your avatar! We are both the same you and I: I'm aiming to lose weight for my sister's visit in June. She is tiny...weighs less than 8 stone and I always feel huge next to her. My BMI is currently 27. I know you'll groan and say "that's not fat" but to me I AM fat and want to be thin. I have 3 stone to go (sorry I work in stones). What method are you using at the moment? Only if you ever fancy joining us in the ADF/DODO tent...we'd love to see you
I look forward to hearing how you get on. We both have June to look forward to
Yes another one who was once most definitely fat with a BMI of 39 but now 24 after losing 90lb. But it takes time...18 months for me (with the last 10lb taking 5 months to shift). Be patient, have faith and concentrate on consolidating your new habits (i.e., fasting) rather than focussing on the speed of loss. You can do it! :clover:
Wow! Thank you everyone for your kind words and encouragement. I now don't feel quite so alone battling my demon that is food obsession, not to say pure greed! Thank you also for the compliments on my photo but don't forget, you can only see my face!
I currently weigh 14st 7lbs or 203 lbs but I'm only 5ft 3ins tall so I feel like a barrel. I had a nasty bout of sickness just over a week ago and that set me off on the losing weight road. I reckon I've lost about 5lbs but I'll take this as my starting weight and see how I get on. When I stuck to this plan previously, I fasted on Monday and Tuesday, only eating in the evening, and it worked well for me. I'll do the same this time and I'll be keeping an eye on you other flab fighters to compare our progress. Good luck to us and thanks again :)
