Should be interesting.
Looks like it us a positive reaction to fasting, which is great.
Is this a new production by Michael, or one that has already been on TV? :)
@chinchin it's not the full eat, Fast live longer as far as I can see from the promos but 18 months after SBS aired that, I think channel 7 has discovered fasting. Not sure who the woman in the ad who says 'it's easy' is? Anyone know her?
Thanks GMH. is that on the show called ' Sunday night'?

Yes the promo here

they are 18 months behind haha
@Juliana.Rivers Yes, but be ready for everyone doing it after it is on mainstream TV. And obviously they are giving it a major positive spin. I'll watch with interest.
Seeing its just all us Aussies here I hope you don't mind if I borrow your thread GMH. Hey @Juliana.Rivers I remember you mentioning the Penrith RSL star buffet ( I think once??) And how nice the food was?. Well I just got back from a work dinner there now. The food was so varied and delicious. I've been wanting to try it out since you mentioned it. I'll take my elderly dad and kids there for lunch I think. The plates are entree size and I had 2 plates of savoury food ( no sweet tooth) some people had 3-4 plates and a large dessert. I marveled at it and am sure I could have done that 18 months ago. Thanks to fasting now I just couldn't. I feel physically unwell if I eat too much for 3 hours or so. So sort of relating it back to your original thread @GMH this IF is the way to go :like: . its been like a miracle for me. Its so simple. 2 bearable days with some denial then enjoy your food guilt free 5 days. Bl**dy brilliant!!
Xxx julianna

I want to know what they say on Facebook. there was 1200 comments after they did the story on Amanda (private escort) though this is not quite as contraversial i guess.

Yes you are right @julianna It is the most amazing place to eat at the Penrith RSL (it's attached to the one at Gosford too, equally good. ) Went to a birthday too the other day at Penrith and I remember eating like i hadnt eaten in months. I was ok with the excess eating if i remember but i know i kept away from carbs. i go crazy at the sushi train. and theres always room for double dessert particularly if there is Pavlova on offer. lol
Yes 5:2 makes enjoying food so easy. which is a bit ironic cause when you say to someone your fasting they think you are rely denying yourself but its quite the opposite. you really enjoy and appreciate the times you can eat, good food tastes so much better when you can eat it and if you do indulge, you "fix it by a good fast, which isnt that hard at all
Channel 7 may be late in pickup up the secret and telling the world but im so glad they are.
Me too! I know what you mean JR @Juliana.Rivers ( sorry don't know how to quote) I was reading the Sunday life mag one day when some size 10 female journo ( forget who) was saying how she's a size 10 and was worried about getting bigger and how she ate a piece of chocolate cake and the angst it caused her and so many women was consuming. And I just thought ' wow, I just don't feel guilty ever about any food I eat anymore- how liberating is that!! And its all due to this WOE!
I kept away from white carbs too and ate prawns galore, pork belly cubes and heaps of Asian broccoli/veges- heaven!

drooling over thought of pork belly cubes

for anyone in the area.. this is the website of the "chain" http://www.starbuffet.com.au/
gallery of food
http://www.starbuffet.com.au/gallery/ but dont look at this if your fasting lol
You can hijack thread @julianna  as for eating at those eat all you want buffets...I can't bear to watch the gluttony! I went to my first and only one ever 30 years ago at the Trots in Brisbane, the Russ Hinze stand, perfect as he was a fat b*stard! I saw a woman shoveling prawns into a plastic bag in her handbag, another was yelling at her kids to eat more!!!?? I couldn't get over it. The friend who took me, couldn't believe I only ate 1 plate of food and 1 dessert, looked at me like I was mad. Then years later I managed a seafood buffet restaurant, some of you may know it, so I'll keep the locale a secret  I was a vegetarian by then and I used to come home stinking of seafood juice, erk. The food was excellent, but it was like watching pigs at a trough. Foul. I can't go near them now give me gourmet dining with small amount of beautiful food...without the trough pigs LOL

I can relate to what you are saying @GMH, it is like if people are not consuming as much food as they can possibly shove into their mouths they dont think they have got their moneys worth, even if the quantity they have eaten is "obscene".

I remember some years ago i shovelled food in so fast at one of those things that I ended up with heartburn and nearly fainted and now i do what a lot of people say.. "Pace yourself" but added to that.. leave enough for dessert. somehow there is always room for dessert.

the buffet thing is a bit of a phenomena and you either like it or hate it. I think if you are cautious you can have a very satisfying meal and probably fast for the next 2 days solid.

On the other hand.. it erks me that many restaurants only give you a tiny "tasting plate" portion in a fancy restaurant these days and worse, if you want some veg, you have to pay for it as an "extra.

I went to a restaurant recently that had a meat with a potato mash as part of the dish and i kid you not there was no more than 2 tablespoons of mash if that. Now thats a joke in my opinion and portion control gone crazy. Dont advocate the portion sizes offered by restaurants in the US but something where you can be satisfied. and no extra money for necessary vegetable accompaniments.
