Hi @Rawkaren :)
Thanks for your thought. The rolled oats get turned into flour, so soaking them wouldn't work (!); the quick oats are just mixed in. Not sure they need to be wet either?? And I am lucky not to have allergies.
@Juliana.Rivers, I think the recipe did actually suggest vanilla flavored, but I may be wrong. I don't think the vanilla is the problem with the taste...
I've not been feeling brilliant the last day or so (think it may have been the tremendous thunder storm we had the night before but also may be something I ate??) and I just can't stomach the thought of eating one of the bars! No appetite at all at the moment, but perhaps when things return to normal...
I am in bed with a cuppa, the apparent temperature outside is 4C so I am not very tempted to get up. The dogs are in bed with me - if I am not taking them for their walk first thing, I think they think that a snooze in bed is the least they should have!!
Cheers :)
I finally made the protein bars, with the help of my sis.

I chose this recipe roughly to follow. http://mydarlingvegan.com/2014/05/germa ... in-bars-2/ (original version) Also added chopped macadamias from my frontyard tree. they were scrumptious.

This is the first fast day to try them and will see how long i can hang out before i need to eat one
At 50 cents a bar rather than $4.50 for a typical bar from a health store or supermarket Im going to try out more recipes.
