Tiger bread just has a fancy pattern on the crust, its a white loaf baked in the local supermarket. I guess giraffe has a different pattern.

It's a re-branding of Tiger bread that Sainsbury's did because of feedback from a child. Here's the story. It's quite sweet. :-)

What is your TDEE - based on height, weight, age and (honest) assessment of activity?

2000 calories is MUCH TOO MUCH for any woman under 5'5" who is not exercising for over five hours a week.

Put your normal meals & snacks & drinks into MFP and see how much excess you are taking in

and STOP SNACKING

My first thought was that everything you've listed on your normal day there involves quite a lot of sugar.
I'm personally trying to steer away from a lot of sugary things due to the affect they have on insulin. So although I'm happy to have a stodgy chocolatey dessert if we're going out for a nice meal or if it's someone's birthday in the office and they've brought in something special, I'm making a conscious effort to NOT have crisps/chocolates/sweets feature in my diet on a daily basis! Plus there's so many empty calories in them.

I'm the sort of person though that if I have a little bit of something (bar of chocolate) that won't feel enough and I'll want another bar (and probably another beyond that!) so for me it's 'safer' to stay away and only have that stuff as an occasional treat.

A normal day for me might be:

Small bowl of porridge made with almond milk, some toasted flaked almonds on top with cinammon and a bit of agave syrup (lower GI than honey or sugar) and a cup of white tea or black coffee

Maybe an apple or banana mid morning

Some homemade soup for lunch with a slice or two of wholemeal bread with some olive spread on it and perhaps a bit of natural yogurt.

Dinner's usually always something I cook from scratch - most days we eat the same sort of dinners on fast and feast days as we only eat one meal in a day on the fasting days, and maybe washed down with a glass or two of red wine and several more mugs of tea/herbal teas throughout the day.

Might have a bit of something for dessert but again trying not to make that a normal everyday thing.

That's not to say on the odd day here and there we'll have a bit of a blow out on something - we had dinner before going out the other day and on the way home we both really fancied a bag of chips, so we shared a so-called small portion (which was massive!) but overall it didn't seem to affect the weightloss whatsoever.

Just done a quick calculation using myfitnesspal (had to guess at some portion sizes):

Breakfast
3 heaped tablespoons greek yogurt = 65 (50g of standard greek yoghurt)
quarter of a tin of fruit cocktail in juice = 69 (120g)
3 heaped tablespoons of Lizi's granola = 248 (50g of Lizi's original granola)
green tea
just before lunch
a handful of Jazzies (the white chocolate drops with sprinkles on them) = 151 (25g)

Lunch
half carton Covent Garden Chicken Soup = 216
quarter of Sainsbury's Giraffe bread with real butter = 360 (4 slices)
6 Digestive Biscuits = 426 (McVities)
fennel tea

Tea
Burger King
Regular Chilli Cheese burger, = 360
chips & = 291
Vanilla Milk Shake = 370 (small shake)

Home
fennel tea
Ripple = 174
Packet of Jelly Tots = 98 (25g packet)
packet of Extra Strong Mints = 165

Grand total = 2993

So nearly 1000 over the likely TDEE I'm sorry to report!

Thank you so much everyone. I went onto fat secrets last night my TDEE is roughly 1850 to 2100 depending on how active I am (1850 this week). I also put in the food and was almost double TDEE - I prefer your version carorees. That said I am shocked at how easy it is to let the calories run up. This is the kick up the backside I need. When it comes to sweet stuff I am the same as you shrinkingrose, hence the 6 dig bics and the choc & sweets after the fast food junk meal. And let me tell you I've done a lot worse than that before. I digress. I might well lose weight for a wee while fasting and eating my normally but I want this to be a WOL and be a healthy weight. Therefore I need to get into the habit of not eating snacks - they say it takes 20 times to make or break a habit! Thanks to everyone who has posted, it is really useful to see what other people typically eat. Fast day today, so you will all be glad to here that I'm having Hairy Dieters Chilli, a wee bit of brown rice and salad for tea and that is all!! I'm off now for a walk down the beach with my daughter.

wildmissus this is why I still have to log my non-fast days into MyFitnessPal - because I'm still learning what "normal eating" looks like for someone with my age, height, gender, activity level etc. It's eating abnormally that got me into this overweight mess in the first place! Slim friends don't understand why I still need to count calories on 5:2 but that's because they've always instinctively known how to eat normally :evil:

Thanks Bssh. I'm certainly going to read packets etc. from now on to get a better awareness of what is going in on non-fast days.
