This may seem a silly question, but I'm a little confused as to where I should be taking my waist measurement. I'd always thought it was the narrowest part of my torso between my ribs and hips, but my mum and a friend were saying I should take the measurement going around my tummy at belly button level. This would give me a very different number. Advice please!

Thank you!!
Hmm, must say that I wouldn't call halfway between the navel and my hips my "waist". Even though the waist I have measured so far (the slightly indrawn part between the ribs and navel) haven't changed very much over time
The point is that to estimate abdominal fat (the bad stuff) you measure in a different place than to estimate subcutaneous fat. Even if your measuring point is not your waist from the point of view of clothing sizes, for health reasons you should monitor abdominal fat.

Ahaaaa. Luckily I do have been measured this part for some time (not that long) since I found that I did loose cm there, but not in the "waist" area.
And there we go with the lost an loose again. Hope I nailed it this time

Umm, sorry, no, it should be lose not loose!
lose = förlora
loose = lös
- I think!
If you're losing cm at that point, that's great as it shows you are removing fat from around your internal organs...good news indeed!
