food you were craving on fast day does not taste that great when you have it? Yesterday I wanted bread and butter, potato chips, and a cookie so much. Have had some of each today and they were all a let down even tho they are what I usually get and like. Maybe our tastes really do change even tho you only give up those foods a very short period of time. What have you found on this?

I would agree - I find I'm less interested in food generally after a fast day and am happy to stop eating when I feel full - even if it's something i really like.
Me too, hope it lasts and lasts, LOL
Yes - absolutely! I am in looovve with vegetables now. I am always on the lookout for new, seasonal veg and am eating a lot more of things like fennel, chicory, swiss chard and such like and my cooking is becoming much more varied. I have fallen in love with coconut oil and have almost (not quite!) lost my sweet tooth. My alcohol consumption has plummeted, and I was an every night, every occasion girl, so it's all good. Yes, I have been reset.
I get full on a surprisingly small amount of food on the day after a fast. I try not to fantasize about what I'm missing on fast day but it's difficult sometimes.
dhana isn't strange how it can reset on such a short fasting time?? Great but not what I expected. It has not for my hubby tho, he has been doing this as long as me and hasn't lost anything at all because he is overeating on regular days. I have lost about 8 pounds and he ALWAYS loses faster and more than I. He is still obsessed with sweets and is a diabetic.
I have only been doing this for 3 weeks now and have noticed the same. I am so surprised at how my eating habits have changed. Am I the only one that finds fast days easier than feast days? I have dinner on fast days and that's it. I actually am finding it liberating not to think of food and enjoy the 'clean' inside feeling the next morning
Totally. When I first noticed this I was slightly disappointed because it was a twix bar. I loved them and used to crave them. Then on a normal day had one and it didn't taste great. I started to worry that 5:2 would result in me not being able to actually enjoy food any more.
But it's only junk that I don't enjoy now. I find I enjoy decent food soooo much more. I've mentioned on here before how I find bananas become gourmet bananas after a fast day. I also enjoy steak and broccoli and potatoes and peas and onions and cheese and strawberries and melon and chicken and duck and roast beef and of course bananas soooo much more.
Sorry to anyone on a fast day. That's basically a list of my favourite food now. Not a refined carb or sugar in it. Whereas if you'd asked me 6 months ago it would have been bread and pasta and chocolate. Weird but wonderful.

I agree! Thought I wouldn't survive yesterday's fast, then today it only took half a glass of green juice, a small coffee and a handful of walnuts to satisfy my hunger through lunchtime.
Doey, your hubby might just a bit longer. Some people eat much more than "normal" when they start this WOL. If it doesn't settle down in a couple of weeks you're going to have to give him a good talking to!
Yesterday was my fast day, I didn't eat until 2pm today, had chicken salad. For dinner tonight we had poached salmon salad with a couple of new potatoes and coleslaw from NikkiN 's blog, it was delicious and I am now full to the brim. Nothing else required tonight. Amazing
NO WAY!!!
Food is always fantastic! Pre or after fast, food is heaven!!!

Oh dear, am I doing something wrong? This just hasn't happened to me (ha ha) - I LOVE my food - fast days are not at all a problem, but on feast days I truly love what I eat - am craving simple things like egg and chips, sausage and mash, fish & chips - not that I'm eating them mind you - or only in very controlled portions - but everything tastes so much better now and I appreciate it all so much more. Chocolate is still my demon (that's a WOL too I'm afraid) - but on 5:2 it all goes into perspective and I can enjoy it and still shed weight - now how fantastic is THAT !!!
Totally the same here, Doey! Fasted yesterday and was looking forward to my breakfast this morning but after getting back from the school run I opened all the kitchen cupboards trying to find something I fancied - in the end I just settled for a handful of dried apricots which lasted me until lunchtime when I had a chicken salad wrap. Dinner this evening was haddock, potatoes and leeks but I got so full half way through I left the rest. My capacity to empty the fridge in one sitting has well and truly left me - so liberating!!
I do still indulge in a cream cake now and again on my normal feed day though, but if I do then I will make a conscious decision to not have any choccy in front of the tv in the evening. I still cannot turn down a mojito though!!

Suchard007 that is fantastic! Everything really does taste so much better! The controlled portions are the key and obviously working for you as you've lost loads! As many have said, we all seem to fill up so much more easily which is what really sets fasting apart I think.
