Have a lovely break with your mum @silverdarling.

So on the flight yesterday, I read a book called the Happiness Trap by Russ Harris. I bought the Pocketbook which contains exercises. Found it on the shelf at the airport. Best 'self-help' book I have read. http://www.amazon.com/Happiness-Trap-Po ... ocket+book or http://www.amazon.com/dp/1590305841/?ta ... 7bjxvsbc_b

It puts paid to the myth about putting a brave face on things and addresses the pressure of positive thinking (and how it can just make things worse). It teaches you to gently confront your demons. Mine is anxiety.

I spent most of the flight in tears as I was going through the exercises. Some were tears of laughter, some to help me address some of my issues.

I wanted to share it as it can be used to address things like addictions, overeating, feeling bad about feeling fat etc.

Afternoon all. I've avoided the forums for a couple of days as my comfort levels sunk to the pits as the sweelling went down. When the swel;ling goes down it releases trapped tendons but not in a nice smooth manner, they 'snap' and click and crunch, I wouldn't call it pain, but it was very nauseatingly uncomfortable.
Today i am ordering 'stuff' for my patio. Adam is itching to get to work on the digging and building which I won't do. I learnt my lesson yesterday about overdoing it, I lurched my way to the gym on my crutches to say hi to everyone (doctors note needed before they will allow me to use any equipment). By the time I got back I was very, very sore, especially in my wrists (crutches). So today I am ordering slabs and timber and other building stuff.

I had my dressings changed on Monday, my hip 'wound' has disolving stitches so is looking good already. The neck 'wound' is horrendous. I have staples in my neck, about 8 of them. I have used smaller staples to hold up the wire for my clematis to climb up. I really do look like frankenstein. Only 6 days before the staples are out. Then maybe I will be able to scratch my neck properly. I am hoping that once the staples are out the skin will lie down more and look less puckered.

But, on with the day. If I don't get it ordered before 4pm I won't get it delivered. So catch you all later tonight.

Good to hear from you @julieathome and that you are 'coming at'. Was wondering how you were doing :)
I'm back from yet another jaunt sabotaged by suden illness which has wiped me out. Felt much better this morning and then it hit me again.
Need to 'come at' as I'm off again on Friday for another spell and it's hard work. Ho hum...
Would much rather be going to Embra for the tartan meet up

@Julieathome, was thinking about you and wondering how your recovery was going. Sorry you are still in so much discomfort and hope the pain will all be worth it once the staples and stitches have gone. Take care and don't do too much! xx

On a good note, I've only put on 2lb so far. Even with a ready supply of wine gums (jelly sweets for the none British) and a large box of chocolates for mothers day. Adam did lunch and managed to make the most perfect poached egg and ham muffin for lunch. I got egg yolk everywhere, but not my t'shirt because I used a bit of forethought and stuffed a tea towel in at my neck.

Awe, Julie, even though you're in pain, you sound positive and upbeat. Good for you x

I am upbeat, mainly because what pain I am in is localised and has a specific cause that I can pin point as a temporary feeling whilst I recover. I haven't had any of the usual nerve pains or shoulder cramping that was a constant daily reminder that things weren't right. I know that now I can go ahead with long held plans that were put on hold for far too long before. Its no wonder I'm upbeat.
