Thanks. Yes, they are a bit mad. Bought them half price from Russell and Bromley. The very last pair. I always make a rule of never paying full price for shoes. I save up and look for bargains (but invest in good ones). Would have never paid full price for these. In fact, I remember this tux is a Jaeger one for which I also paid half price. Bargain hunter me

You look gorgeous, Karen. I am green with envy.
Did you take the selfie in front of a mirror?
I'm out for lunch today and would love to dress up, but it's a country pub and cold! Most people are walkers with dogs, so it's casual (again!)

Yes the selfie was done in front of a mirror. It feels a very odd thing to do but best I could manage.

Just catching up on this thread, WOW, all you lovely ladies, the very glamourous minum, the elegant spanner and if course the beautiful Karen you are all making me feel dowdy and inadequate. Penny, I bet you look fabulous in your finery so come on, let's see you. I shall be wearing my little black Italian number (just burst out laughing as I saw that for some reason my predictive text wrote 'Taliban' instead of Italian  ) that had it's first outing in France earlier this year. Looking forward to more photographs, oh and Penny, as SD says, 'out to lunch' are you sure that is what you mean?

Well don't knock your Taliban job  @ballerina. There are some very glamorous black burquas around these days. I'm sure you would look stunning

Well, as I almost always wear black and there is not a lot of me that stands up to public scrutiny then perhaps my computer knows what suits me better than I know myself, .....gulp, so, Taliban all the way

@rawkaren - The Grey Lady is just up the road from me, never been (it has changed hands many times over the years, I think) but the menu looks wonderful!

Must put it on our list for a posh meal out sometime...

Come to think of it, Lil is in Loughborough and Ballerina not that far away - maybe we should all descend on Saturday???
Re: Christmas clothes

We never dress formally at Christmas (or anytime else) since most of us have jobs with dress codes. But said that, I do like to look a little bit nice nevertheless and we are having a dinner for some of our closest friends on Saturday to come and that is a reason to look good- heh?

Sooo I have the dress that I bought 6 yrs ago, the label said XL and since I hate to try on clothes in stores, I bought it like that. It is so pretty, maybe more like a summer one that winter….it has a dusty pink jersey under robe with spagetti straps and a dusty multi colored chiffon over wraparound dress with a bit of ruffles along the neckline. The thing is - I have never been able to wear it since it was too small (or me too big?). I have been on the verge to through it out a couple of times, but the prettyness prevented me from doing it. So I hanged it just inside the door of my very very small WIC and eye it evey now and then. And this morning when I took out clothes for work (with my inner self jumping up and down from scale stepping) I looked at it and went mmmmmm, maybe it will fit now? It ought to fit now! I will try it on on Saturday morning and keep my fingers crossed. Maybe that under dress is of the jersey material from hell and still make me look like a squished sausage? Or maybe……????

@creakypete that is a lovely idea but not this Saturday as I have too much to do, got 20 odd women, and yes It DO mean ODD! coming round for the Strictly Final but as I am very close to East Midlands Airport then a meet up some time could definitely be on the cards,

Now that sounds great Pete, but my mum would never forgive me. I have not seen her since August and I'm wizzing up and down from Newcastle just for the day, so we only have a couple of hours together. What a bad daughter I am, hence the guilt treat at an expensive restaurant.  As Ballerina says, the new year might be a good idea

Blimey girl @rawkaren

You scrub up well  You look a gorgeous little sex kitten  :clover:

Cool shoes :like: I used to shop at R&B in the past, but had a fab independent shoe shop in Romsey which I used for years, cost me an arm and leg, but hey, I was the talking piece with my collection of boots ! Its gone now :frown: not that I could afford those prices now ! I used to shop in the sales at R&B as well
