WOOF! I'm in too please... and @Caitlin...

Is it coffee or lunch we're looking to do? Happy to suggest venues for either / both and get some sample prices etc. Could even book?

xxx FatDog
Wow @Alf so much choice, my head is spinning. I think I will be lazy and go along with whatever @fatdog recommends, as a renowned low carb veggie she will know places to suit me. By the way, I hope I am not jumping the gun discussing lunch, if you guys would rather have a long coffee morning that's fine by me, after all I'm the one who doesn't normally have it.
A long leisurely lunch would be great.
Hi

Sorry I don't know how to tag people but Henderson's would be ideal for Fatdog and Barbarita. They are one of the original vegetarian/wholefood restaurants and have a huge reputation. From the George Street site it looks like they have a few different cafes and restaurants to choose from. What do you think Fatdog?
I would prefer lunch but will go with the flow.
Hendersons is good but very very crowded at lunchtimes, nor a relaxing nice long chat place. : :
As in Liverpool I am with hubs so I shall not luncheon with you all, we will be having a late lunch together, but coffee and possibly a glass of wine as you all nosh would be lovely. At least in Edinburgh he has Rose St. to keep him occupied whilst I enjoy myself with you lot but I can't expect him to have lunch on his own but I will still have lots of time to spend with you girls. Getting excited now,

Ballerina x
Jealous too @pennyforthem. Looking forward to the reports
Hendersons can be very crowded - but we could book a table or two, if we knew how many of us there's likely to be? And I've never known them to try and move folk on once they've dined - I've been in a group that spent the whole afternoon / evening there when it's heaving before now, with nary a peep from the staff. Mightn't be affy relaxing mind, you're right there @Nessie.
I usually like Hendersons for meets because it has a counter system where you go up and order what you want, so no hassles with bills. Sometimes it is quiet enough downstairs just depends on the time of year. It is reasonably central. It also has a bistro which can be quieter but it has waiters so you can't see the food...

Next up for me would be `David Bann`, vegetarian and an interesting foodie menu, the only downside at least in the evenings is the wine menu which I think suffers from an unreasonable markup, true they are vegetarian wines but £18 - £30 on a bottle?

If folks are into Indian food we have a few cracking places here, Kushis, and Mother India to name but two, both `high end` recommends and fairly ambient in my opinion.

Italian - Valvona and Crolla, says it all, the best Italian deli in the world, also great cafes but can get very very busy with the `ladies wot lunch`. The Leith one is located at the back of the deli so affords some excellent take home swag oportunities... They also have a cafe on Rowntree Walk at the back of harvey nicks.

It all depends what kind of lunch and the appropriate ambience...
Looks, like we'll need a coffee spot to get to know each other and then say a sad farewell to @Ballerina and go shout at each other in a restaurant. Is there a cafe near Waverley station we could meet up, or is John Lewis easy to find? I'm thinking we may have a bigish gap between first and last arrival and a long time for the earlier to stand in a noisy busy space?

Howsoever, @Fatdog I'm a definite.
I shall look forward to reading this thread later this eve. And if I happen to move my/the world last minute...........I might make it.

Wishing

What about the Balmoral Hotel? Next door and does morning coffee
I'm up for the Balmoral, as SD says, right next to Waverley and we can all decide what we want to do, woo hoo, I may pass on the lunch but you don't get rid of me that easily

Also won't be noisy or crowded ... Well not until we get there    and I think we deserve something a bit genteel, don't you think??
