sounds like a lovely day TML. I had a boring Monday at work and it was freezing again this morning. Well Ive got dinner to look forward to, I'm trying to last out as long as I can then i'll have a small curry to warm me up.
I agree with Redhead, no food ads it would be too much.

I don't even notice the ads. They are really not a bother, in my opinion.
Lol TML, poor Dr. M, I think we should be a bit kinder, after-all he is technically the inspiration for our new found love for this diet. Whether there's one or several 5:2 forums I don't think it matters much given that there'd be more support and a growing community readily available to exchange ideas/opinions with.Best to look at the advantages I say lol!
But I don't find ads a nusance as long as they don't too overboard and evasive. Instead of charging why not have an option to donate directly. However settin an annual fee wouldn't be too bas, greater motivation to hang on and incentive to stay in touch thru ones journey as well!

Yes let's not give Dr M a hard time. It's not even clear yet what is going to happen at the other website and I don't think he bears us here any ill will. I think he is mostly concerned that 5:2 as a whole continue to be a success and not a 'flash in the pan'.
I think if they knew us better they'd love us! I can't really see why they want another forum except that they don't realise how good we are, and they think it would plug a gap! It's not as if a forum is a huge money-spinner, is it Moogie?!

*hides her new solid gold, diamond encrusted toilet seat*
LOL, Moogie!!!
I don't mind the ads. I seem to get a lot for diets and diet products but I just find that rather funny.

Aren't the diamonds a bit scratchy on the backside?
Interesting question...

Yes I don't think it would be good to start forum wars! Doesn't reflect well on either party.
Theres a line in the 5:2 cookbook that comes to mind, about this WOL being a conversation and not a set of commandments. We don't know what his forum will be like but I'm sure there are advantages to having both an 'official' forum and an independant. Both will need money and human resources to run and each will have it's strength and weakness based on how they are sourced.
I do hope there is collaboration on data though. If DR M's forum doesn't have a tracker (free one I should add) then this forum would always be my home forum even before other considerations.

Not now my backside has had maglev technology installed - which is also very handy for public toilets. Ah the joys of being an internet millionaire!
Although we can't know all of his motivations a thought had occurred to me..
Perhaps you think i'm crazy, but I'm assuming at some point that someone 'doing the fast diet' will come to harm in some way and end up in the papers. It might be something undiagnosed that showed up while on the diet, or fasting taken too far, water intoxication, gateway to anorexia... Basically where someone has wandered off piste from the advice in the book and either acted foolishly or been plain unlucky.
Dr M is the face of the diet, stumbled into the role of diet guru. He gets the credit for starting it and he will also get the blame if things go wrong. And this WOE's detractors would have a field day. If Dr M sticks to his site where in a sense his advice and cautions are somewhat 'word of god' then he and this WOE have a defence that said persons weren't following his advice. Papers would still have a field day, but maybe not so bad.
Am I making any sense?
