Off to Scotland on hol ...
17 May 2013, 08:32
... And hope I can keep those 2in lost to date off my waist, and not put on any weight! But looking forward to a couple of 'scottish breakfasts' in the next day or two  !

Not looking forward to the rain    !

Will wave to dhana, wildmissus, scotty et al as I go past Stirling and on eventually to Skye!

Will report back on whether I've been successful at keeping the inches / weight off, in the meantime any tips thereto more than welcome!   (*joke re sunspecs*)

Have a wonderful time in Scotland. The weather is usually best in May, so I hope you'll be lucky.
Watch out for all the yummy home baking. It's so hard to resist.
You'll usually find home made soup too which is usually very good . Lentil soup is usually a good bet especially when accompanied by home made bread!
Now I'm getting homesick!
Have you noticed how everything in this post is food related??
Enjoy.

Hope you enjoy your hols. I've been living in Nairn for the past 9 years and I still get that good feeling about how lovely it is up here. I'll wave back as you go north and then turn left where I'm off to the right!

Yes, you'll need a waterproof jacket and don't forget a fleece! As your going west you'll be wise to take some midge repellant.

Me too! I'm off to Mull next weekend. Staying with a friend who doesn't cook so likely to be eating out a lot! Might be able to skip breakfast though...
Midges already wildmissus? I was hoping it would be too early...

hello Silverdarling!
It's a beautiful sunny morning here in Stirling - hope the weather keeps up for you  Enjoy yourselves and if you like seafood you'll be spoiled for choice on Skye - there are lots of lovely restaurants on Skye using local produce (or you could just head off to the chippie for a deep fried Mars bar  )

So jealous and so homesick. Would love to be in Scotland right now. Hoping to get back in late August

Have a lovely time, been fortunate to have seen a fair bit of the world but the west coast of Scotland is hard to beat. Maybe a wee bit bias as was brought up on Mull, where are you heading Caroline?
If you can get your hands on some Avon skin so soft dry spray oil it's brilliant for keeping the midges at bay though think it should be too early for them now.

Last time I looked you could pick up the Avon Skin So Soft in the petrol stations. I agree the west closet of Scotland is very hard to best.
COI I'm from Girvan, Ayrshire

Midges might not be around but I have never ever seen so many sand martins flying above the water at the river - hundreds and hundreds which means that there is an awful lot of insects to be had.

One day when the kids have left home I'd also like to go to Mull and Orkney. Silverdarling, I have however been to Haggerston Castle when the girls were wee and travelled around Northumberland which was a very good holiday, a very nice part of the world.

Big wave Silverdarling - did you see me as you passed by lol
So jealous you're off up north - never been to Skye but its on my list (Mull too) as its supposed to be lovely. Midges shouldn't be too bad at this time of the year - it's early & it's been freezing so far but it's sunny today.

Carorees - hope you have a lovely time in Mull next weekend.

If you get the weather, there is no better place than Scotland - slightly biased lol

Hope you have a lovely time up here we definitely have plenty wide open spaces. Needless to say I am from Loch Ness side we have some very good eateries here. The midges are not out yet and the weather report for west side of country is good.

We're heading north next weekend as well, up near Aviemore to stay at our usual haunt run by a lovely couple who have become friends over the years, a week of wandering round the big open spaces ..........

walking off the huge breakfast that we get served each morning  and what's more, I'm still going to have 'em, might not eat for the rest of the day on 2 of the days and that will have to be my '2' for the week :rotfl: I'm pretty confident that any weight gained over that week will shift pretty soon when we return home and get back on 5:2 :like:

In fact it will be a bit of a 'tester' and see how the 5:2 WOE does for later in the year when we head off on a couple of cruises

Anyone else going away hope you all have a good time
