I've got two cats, brother and sister. I've always been a cat person

TML13 I think the writer won an award last night on a television programme awarding all sorts of animals over here in the UK. I only watched for a few minutes. Was he (the writer) homeless?
I have a miniature schnauzer Daisy (nuts) and she has a fetish for chasing birds in the garden and on our walks. I think the frogs in garden annoy her too.
We also have what the pet shop called fancy gold fish - 7 in total. I added 2 snails and two shrimps at the weekend. Haven't seen the shrimps since, either been eaten or hoovered up when I was cleaning the tank They could be hiding but have scoured the tanks and can't see them, there's not much colour to them they are translucent.
At the moment I only have one animal in the house-a dog.She is a rescue dog and I took her and her companion in about eight years ago.In the past I have had two dogs and three cats all at the same time!Outside there is a pond with fish and there is also an aviary with various rescued birds.

We have a dog - a gorgeous 2 year old collie X boxer boy called Jack . Unfortunately, I'm the only one that seems to be bothered with him nowadays - kids too young to walk him alone and tbh, Richard has lost all interest & just sees him as a pain in the bum .
It's sad really, he's a fab dog but now that there's only me that walks him and looks after him, he is a bit of a bind... IMO a dog is for life, not just for Christmas - but sometimes I wish we hadn't got him , he's so intelligent and lovely but with work and the kids and walking Jack twice a day too... I do it & it gets me out & I enjoy it (for the most part, not so much when it's freezing or peeing it down) but sometimes resent the fact that we got a dog... *ducks as thousands of eggs are thrown at me*

Aw that's a shame. I appreciate your honesty. Hopefully when your kids are a bit older they can take him out and free up some of your time. I've never owned a dog, although I like them (all animals really) but I can imagine they must be a burden at times. Let's hope we get a better summer this year so it will make things a bit more bearable for you!
My hamster passed away today He was 2.5 years old and was a bundle of energy until about a month ago Rest in peace little angel!
Awww...I'm so sorry Ice Princess.
Aww that's so sad........
We have, in order of age, a nearly 15 years old British shorthair cat called Tilly (otherwise known as Tillytink, Tink, Tinker or Tinkerbell!). I got her when she was 6 months old so she's actually been around longer than my husband! He loves her to bits and is always fussing over her. She has calmed down over the years, was a right little tear away in her youth!
Next, a 12 year old Cesky terrier, Charlie...also known as Chas. He is showing no sign of slowing down, I wish I had half his energy! Sadly though, he has recently gone very deaf...oh well at least he has a good excuse now for not taking a blind bit of notice of us. We took him on 7 years ago after he became too much for my mum...a dog is for life and all that, I couldn't bear the thought of him being rehomed with someone he didn't know!
And finally 2 two year old tortoises. Valentino and Fiorano! They are really sweet and satisfy my husbands love of reptile type pets!

I have two cats, sisters from the same litter. Sumi-chan is a black cat who never got very big. Her way of showing affection is to hold her tail up straight and make it quiver. Her nick names are ink spot and shaky tail. Mimei-chan is a gray tabby who gives new meaning to the term scaredy cat. She is super affectionate (when she's not in hiding), and the one most likely to meow in my face at 5am wanting to be fed. Her nicknames are sunrise (her name means 'almost sunrise') and scaredy cat.
Ooh, I've loved reading through this thread.
I've got a beautiful British Short Hair blue girlie. I adopted her 3 years ago when she was three. She is a retired breeder. At the cattery, the other cats tended to pick on her and when I brought her home she was quite reclusive. Only took one week for her to decide she was onto a good thing. She's turned into a sweet natured, playful ball of fur. Wouldn't be without her!

I have an English Springer Spaniel. Best dog in the world but has always managed to eat things he's not supposed to. A 10 pound honey baked ham (a $90 ham), pounds of butter, a jar of nutella, a chocolate cake. I guess I'm a bad role model.
