2 cats - 'blue' and ruddy Abysinnians, ages 9 and 5 - both came afer my 18 year old Chocolate siamese (who I get my name from!). Very different characters, one thinks she's a dog and follows me anywhere and has to be with me AT ALL TIMES - the other is fiercely independent, but then caves in and lolls around asking for fusses and girlie time together!! Couldn't imagine a house without a cat and absolutely ADORE them - love me, love my cats!! Hubby dared to suggest the other day that he thought they were starting to make him sneeze - he quickly re-thought when I looked at the front door !!!! I think I must have been an Egyptian in a former life as I'm fascinated by their history / pyramids and they did, of course, worship cats...

We currently only have a hamster ( our daughters) it's been 3 years since we lost our Westie & I have HATED not having a pet, life just isn't as good without one! I love most animals except reptiles & fish love rodents especially & dogs! Saw an earlier post about rats, have never had them but can easily see the attraction!
Yes pets are a great addition to any family . Like yourselves I love most pets except reptiles , and have had several types of pets when our children were small .
Just have the two dogs now which such a pleasure

Ready!
4 cats, all girls, Muffin an 18 year old grey and white muggy, Suki a 6 year old snowy Bengal, Lola a 4 year old brown spotted Bengal and Humbug a 2 year old tabby who looks like her name. Then Momogi, an elderly rabbit left by daughter when she left home. An adopted puppy Bruno, a Boxer/Mastiff cross who is nearly a year old. We got him at 8 weeks and do a weekly agility class with him which he loves. He needs lots of walks and games and is a lovely gentle giant now weighing 31kg. Out side I have two Buff Orpington Cockerels, Bubble and Butch, 7 Buff Orpington ladies...Sonny, Saffy, Squeak, Daphne, Delilah, Deidre and Denise and a Tri coloured Sussex called Bonnie. Sadly her partner Clyde died recently. I have 4 Muscovy ducks, one male called Matty and Three females, Mindy, Jemima and Abigail. Mindy and Bonnievare currently broody and sharing a mountain of chicken eggs in the duck house! Finally I have 7 Rouen ducks, like giant mallards that cannot fly. Three boys and Four girls. I hatched four of them in an incubator last year using eggs my ducks laid as they are hopeless at sitting. I taught them to swim in the kitchen sink! Two of them I had to help out of their shells which was a bit stressful.they are all free range and give me lovely eggs.
At various times wildlife lives with us, not always wanted like the mice who keep getting in the pantry! I am very rural surrounded by farmland in Normandy, France.

Forgot to say the Rouen ducks are all called Bob as it was a while before we could sex them!
All this talk about lovely pets. I think Bobshouse is a menagerie, it sounds wonderful! I have a Bedlington Terrier called Freddie, who isn't a year old yet. He's looking at me now and I'm sure he knows I'm writing about him. For some reason he has started chewing. First the dining chair leg, then the stair carpet, today the seat of the dining chair! He has lots of toys to chew, so I don't know why he is doing it? I do know he is going for his little operatioon soon, though I haven't told him yet.
We have another dog called Buddy, a Patterdale Terrier, who goes to work with my husband. Both dogs play together really well.
Last but not least we have a budgie called Sugar who is about 17 yrs old. I had no idea budgies lived so long when we got him. The children have flown the nest but the budgie remains.

Very much so but I love it. Have been thinking of adding a couple of sheep but am not sure I could cope with the transition to freezer. That is why I will never be totally self sufficient.
We have three cats, Charlie (Charlie Warley) a tabby with white paws and bib, Archie, (Archie Parchie), a beautiful pure tabby; and my personal favourite, Tinky (Tinky Winky Woo)(hence my name), who is a loving, devoted black cat who follows me around the house and has to sit on my knee when I sit down at the end of the day. He really seems to love me and knows exactly what I say to him. They have certainly enhanced our family life and could not imagine the house without them. The only trouble is, the scratching of furniture, they really are naughty like that and have ruined a lot of our stuff. But we love them.
I have a Boxer/Mastiff cross. Very hard work but love him to bits. He will be a year old this weekend. I take him to agility classes. He has the Boxer bounce and the Mastiff stubbornness. He has not damaged the house but likes to steal things like laundry and paper. He loves squeaky toys but destroys them to get the squeak out! He is high energy and I often threaten to put him on eBay but couldn't part with him! He is now 31kg but likes to snuggle with me.
My cat has recently decided that sleeping on my pillow is the place to be at night! It is hard enough to get to sleep on a fast day without a cat taking up all the pillow and purring in your ear!
I have 2 miniature poodle girls called Sooty and Cinder They are mental but I love them. At this moment cinder is sleeping on my knee and soots is on the floor on her back with legs in the air !
I've added a pic of my gorgeous girls

Hi, my cat also sleeps on my pillow but I find the purring to be soporific
Lovely thread. We have 4 cats; Milton (long hair tabby), Mike (short hair tabby), Millie (black and white) and Martin (white). They are all quite heavy and are being monitored to see if they need a diet. We also have 2 blue and gold macaws which are very noisy and which have free range of the house and garden while we are at home, a senegal parrot, a pair of ring neck parakeets, a pair of kakarikis and lots of budgies. We did have a snake but it got a tumour and died. The birds belong to my husband and strangely enough the cats and birds ignore each other even though the cats are all keen hunters.
