Ballerina, aren't you a toad whisperer?
Mine is photography, mainly of plants and flowers every where I go. So of goes with the gardening. Used to be a dab hand at cake making and cooking cook as all the tasting as I went along made my weight balloon and as the children have fled the nest that stopped.

I like writing - no idea if I am any good at it though . I used to write a blog but I hadn't done for a while. This afternoon I was inspired by the weather, so wrote my first post for ages. If anyone is bored, feel free to take a peek...

Just read your blog Heucherella, such a vivid description I felt I was there by your side so thanks for brightening a gloomy evening!
I found I could be a teacher at the age of 55, when I took early retirement and started teaching breadmaking, and realised that's what I should have been doing all my life - but, since I left school with 2 'O' levels, I never thought that was possible.
I gained a degree in Education and Training in my early sixties - absolutely loved my second go at education!
I learned to played the violin along with my children - got up to about grade 3 (Suzuki book 3) and was beginning to master Dvorak's 'Humoresque' when I developed osteoarthritis in my joints and was unable to close my fingers over the fingerboard.
I can also send and receive morse code at around 25wpm.
But the secret talent I'm most proud of is - I'm considered to be a good salsa dancer! I've just been dancing round the kitchen dancing to 'I gotta pair of brand-new roller skates' by Melanie on Johnny Walker's R2 show.* The thing is with the salsa - if you can do that, you can dance to anything with 4 beats to the bar.
I had never been able to dance - until I went to Cuba on an education study trip as part of my degree. There it was "Salsa lessons, by the pool" every night at 6. I still didn't pick it up properly, but when I came back I remembered the basic instructions and practiced and practiced in my kitchen - to the CD of "Brassed off."
My proudest moment on the dance floor was when this gorgeous young blonde came over and danced with me at my son's wedding - for a while, everybody fell back and watched us. After about ten minutes she came up very close to me and whispered, "You're very good, you know!" and danced back to her husband! I tell you, I was on cloud nine for the rest of the evening!
I'm not very good at following orders! (Something my wife of 43 years still hasn't picked up on! )
*I wrote this this afternoon, but it got lost when I tried to post - so this is my second attempt.

What a great thread. Here's one you've never heard of - not sure talent is the right word, but when I get to the checker stand in the supermarket, I often guess what my bill will be. I don't try to keep track of the total as I shop. I don't think about it at all, actually. But I'm usually really close. Apparently it's instinctive. I can scare myself. Today did a really big shopping trip. Guessed and came within a dollar.
In the days before cell phones, I had a Rolodex memory. Had dozens of phone numbers by heart. My friends and family were amazed. Sadly, now that this "talent" is useless, it has mostly deserted me. Tho there are still a number of numbers that are permanently "stuck" in my mind..

Hmm, I appear to excel at being mediocre at everything! Apart from Scrabble and science writing I guess.
I love to have a go at crafty things and my results are usually OK-ish
I am pretty good at picking up the basics of a new sport but I quickly plateau at the OK level,
I love cooking and baking but am let down by my presentation and decorating skills!
But I am good with words...Scrabble anyone?

Must add: not many know (who don't know me well) but I can blend up a nice botanical natural perfume. Oh, I also went to goldsmith school for 3 years, but never work as one due to allergies
I have also trained my oldest RR Fiona and myself to be able to compete in the lowest level of obedience. Not bad for a women who never owned even a hamster before and a Rhodesian Ridgeback Nowadays Fiffi only obey when she think there is something in it for her LOL.

I can play the saxophone....... Not a lot of people know that, apart from the neighbours

Ooops forgot about that, ok off to the book thread with my buns, then will play gentle sounds in the background whilst you all discuss the latest read....................
