After my disappointing half a kg loss last week I'm really pleased to be back on track and have lost another kg this week bringing my total loss to 6.5kg after 4 weeks.

:victory: *does a happy dance* :victory:

I am amazed how easy this diet is to follow and how it is so compatible with real life. I was invited out to lunch twice last week and apart from switching my usual wine to water I ate as normal.

I am still hugely overweight and have a long way to go but the fact that this is working and still working so well four weeks in is brilliant. I had a look at some of your before and after or before and during photos and they are so inspiring.

I have no idea what I should have as a target weight, does anyone happen to know of any websites that give you an idea of what you should be?

Hi Puny I think your BMI is somewhat of an aim but there is also some discussion in that as we age the BMI rangevmight be a tad too low. Others on the forum can give you their opinion about being in the standard BMI but for example if I was to be recommended BMI I would be looking awful and a size I never was even at my thinnest in my teens, this relates to the fact I weigh heavy as my frame is medium-large.

I bet you know really what you ought to loose, anyway have an interim goal. You can always change Can't help you with websites but maybe @Moogie is the best person to ask

I am personally not a fan of BMI, I have never found it has worked for me any of the time I've dieted on any plan. I know ideal weights are the same problem but I could add a bit to an ideal wait and aim for that.

It's just been so hard to find anything other than diagrams with lots of colour on them which are vague at best.

I might just have to accept that there is no answer for this.

Hubby is the opposite, he's already back into a healthy BMI range but still wants to lose more weight as he's still got a bit of a podgy tummy.

From the health point of view, I'd go for a waist measurement under half your height as a good goal, then a BMI under 27 (still technically overweight but there's next to no scientific proof that being below 27 brings significant health benefits). The waist is the key one as it measures abdominal fat which is the dangerous place to have fat.

Thanks Caroline. I had no idea about the height/waist thing. That sounds like a good thing to aim for.

If you use the progress checker, it calculates your height to waist ratio for you.

I love the progress checker, esp. today as I recorded a 3.5lb loss this week! (no loss last week so tried super hard with a Fri, Mon and Wed fast this week)

I am 5 weeks in, 10.5 lb loss thus far... Long way to go, but heartening progress!

I must look at the tracker more carefully. I just kind of chuck my stats in there weekly. I've only done two waist measurements to date.

Well done on your amazing loss!!!

Well done puny  (not sure where yesterday's post went)
We are very similar as my BMI was over 44 at my start so as for what weight you should be really depends on what your comfortable with.
For me I set my goal at 12 stone because I know I'll be happy when I reach that goal, however I should be aiming closer to 10 but at my age think 12 would look better ( I may move the goalposts as I get closer)
The waist measurement is the one to go by and you can track that every 2or4 weeks you can keep it all private if you so wish.
As Caroline has pointed out the slightly higher BMI may be better for us as we've so much to lose I personally am pleased with her comment on that because 25 seemed unachievable for me.
You're doing brilliantly so don't expect 1 kg a week because you won't always get that the 1 lb average is so welcome as you move along
every little helps as they say, its taken me many years to get to my original size so need to take time to remove the flab and give my body time to catch-up. Good Luck and chill. :clover: Sue. :clover:

Thanks Sue :like:

The NHS website had a chart on it which was very vague but for now I've set that as my goal weight for the tracker chart but it is a really unrealistic goal that I can rethink once I get closer and probably increase it a bit.

I've been overweight most of my adult life and even though I've successfully dieted in the past I've always put it back on and then some.

I think because I have so much to lose to start with it will come off in reasonable chunks but I know it will slow down at some point. I know this is going to be a long term project but so far it's not been a hardship. The no forbidden foods aspect has stopped me binging on things I think I'm going to miss. I've also found my appetite in general has shrunk.

I think I'll follow your advice on the waist measurement and do them at regular intervals. I've only measured twice so far, once at the start and this week. I've lost 6cm so far which surprised me.

Hi Puny

I last did my waist measurement on a week when I hadn't lost anything.. Cheered me up as I realised I had lost 3 inches from my waist since starting.. Re motivated me for the next week..!!

That sounds like a good reason to do measurements :like:
