So mad I could give up with 5:2
14 Dec 2013, 10:17
I have been really good this week, stopped eating breakfast, reducing my calories and I gained 4lb!!!!! I was close to my Christmas target now I'm almost half a stone away. I don't get it, and I'm so mad I could just give up
Well, vent your fury on some protein, ditch the carbs for a day or two and it will all melt away, most of it is probably water and will pass anyway so stop being angry with yourself. These things happen and I've found that these inexplicable pounds can disappear as quickly as they appear.

Ballerina x
Aw, big hugs :hugright: :hugleft: @daydreamer21.Try not to get too down though as you know you can't possibly have gained 4 lbs of fat so as @Ballerina says, cut back the carbs and carry on as you know it's just a blip and this time next week you could be reporting a great loss!
@daydreamer21, I am with you on this :frown: ! For some reason an extra 1.6kgs appeared from somewhere!! I am really peed off too! Next week I am going to do the no carb and see if that helps, although I haven't had much this week.
Sometimes, I just don't know!!!!! :curse:
Don't stress about it...it can't be fat. Also stress means release of cortisol and cortisol prevents weight loss and triggers carb cravings. Chillax and keep on with the fasting and this apparent gain will soon vanish.
I hear ya, Daydreamer! I too managed to gain 2lbs this despite fighting a cold and still sticking to my fasts - grrrr!

Like the others say though, it can't be fat, so probably just one of those annoying glitches that will correct itself over time.

Keep strong, keep doin' what ya doin' and it'll all come good!!

Good luck and take care!

I'm with the others. We all have a grey area of at least 4lbs of general fluid/gunk etc that affects the scales but not your actual body fat. You've been really sensible in what you've eaten but you've made some changes to your routine so your body is just adapting and that affects things like fluid levels.

Also, when a fat cell empties your body likes to save it for a bit in case it gets the chance to refill it. Think of it like when the freezer is getting empty and you chuck the odd loaf of bread in to fill it up and keep it running economically! Stick with it and your body will decide its a waste of time and ditch the water and all will be well again.
Don't give up. There are so many factors to gaining that sudden 2lb to 4lb that the list takes up half a page. As others have said, its just water, drop the carbs for a week and watch it drain out of you.
Gee, if you gained weight being good on 5:2, just think what you could accomplish if you quit and went back to your former eating habits!

Good Luck!
 Hi dreamer the reason is with the Moon & :star: :star: :star:

Well it can't be :fat: :fat: now can it??
Really hope it isn't because I'm registering my FIRST gain in 8months on this WOL so it must be in the moon+stars look there's a few of us and we couldn't all have been naughty
:clover: looks as if my xmas target is off also :clover: Sue

Its not Christmas yet!!! You could all get a visit from the Whoosh Fairy and hit target on Christmas Eve! :clover: :clover: :clover:
 @miffy49. Yes I know I've got another 10 days but I don't think I can lose the Now  3*75kgs

But I will bloody hell try :like: and if necessary weigh-in on Christmas eve to post a victory coz I'm determined to
win this battle once and for all :clover: :clover: Sue

not sure what the whoosh fairy is but hope she does visit.
Awww, don't be so hard on yourself dreamer. I too haven't reached my Xmas goal and now I'm away from home (different scales) I'm really trying not to take any notice of what they say. Even if you don't hit the number you want on the scales, you're still doing great. Don't let the scales decide if you're doing well or not, you know you're doing well. Don't give up hun, you know you'll be gutted if you do. I'm sure it's just water too. Stay strong, it will soon be gone. Keep doing what you're doing. Good luck
Dee :)

I have to be honest and say I read it as lbs not kg! Still, you can make a good dent in it.

The Whoosh Fairy is responsible for sudden drops when you have been stuck for ages. She is usually accompanied by lots of peeing! Not sure who came up with her. Can't claim her as my invention. :clover: :clover:
Head to the supermarket tomorrow or the butchers (make that Monday) and find the Turkey that weighs the same as what you have lost so far. Heave it out of the freezer/cabinet whatever and try and carry it for a few minutes. Then tell us you feel like giving up.
