Getting Sweaty! Exercise & Fitness

Yes, it is indeedvery hot here in the midwest. This has been the hottest week of the summer so far. It was 97 with a heat index of well over 100 yesterday. Yikes! I had to spend the hottest part of the afternoon outside selling concessions @ my dd marching band performance. Thankfully, I got to man the cash box and not the grill. Can you imagine the heat?! After that I went home and did my steps in the AC in front of the TV! Same story today...much too hot to put the miles in outside.
Good morning FitBitters worldwide,

We are having a lovely end of summer in SE England, warm and sunny but with that cool snap in the mornings. My OH's replacement Zip arrived from eBay yesterday so from today he will be back counting steps with me.
I went for a run yesterday morning, and pulled something in the back of my left thigh, which meant I had to walk home. I have been rubbing it with Ibuprofen gel and it is feeling better but I'm not sure whether I'll be up for my parkrun on Saturday.
This is rather ironic as I made another eBay purchase this week - a fancy GPS watch (I do love a gadget!)and am waiting for it to arrive. Hey Ho.

@Penny loved the photo of your Springer
Slowly increasing my steps after my knees let me know that they did NOT appreciate the sudden increase in walking. So now what happens? Knees fine but my right hip wants to act up, hopefully it was just fluke as it seems fine this morning. Weather is gorgeous, sunny and hot! Finally the marine layer is gone and I can actually see the sun rise, lovely sun all day long with glorious sunsets. Everybody else around me complaining it's too hot and "ugh the humidity" LOL I'm loooooving it!
Wow been so caught up with work these last two weeks my steps have suffered big time! Gonna try get a big walk in tomorrow hopefully. Hey every day is a new opportunity ;-)
Where we have been staying this week; Inland Sea, Anglesey.
We've all had a great time!

Pennyforthem those pics look lovely. I love the one of your dog splashing through the water.

Sians I hope your leg gets better soon. Do you think you will make your run? I reccomend Tiger Balm if you can stand the heat. it helps me a lot with neck and shoulder pain that I get occaisionaly.

It's blooming hot back in Riyadh! It doesn't get below 40 degrees here during the day and then only drops a couple of degrees after dark, so ive been getting in nearly all of my steps indoors. I went out for a walk yesterday with a friend but it was so uncomfortable, I don't think I will be doing it for a while.

I've dropped my goal down from 20,000 steps to 18. I was able to do it but it was too much I think. I might drop it down again if I can manage to get my active minutes combined with my floors. My weight is still above maintenence sadly but I'm hoping this time next week I will be back on track :)

Been settling back in this week and not spent nearly as much time on the forum as usual. DH and DD both out now and I'm having a little catch up time :)
Does anyone know who annscotlass is. Amazing stats, and how does she get those massive numbers.

@Annscotslass has the same name on the forum, she just joined end of July and has only made a couple of posts. From the amount of steps and such she does, I don't think she has much time to spend on the computer. lol
Hi All

Thanks Umleila, I have been using Ibuprofen Gel and it seems much better, so I'm hoping to be running tomorrow. I bet you're looking forward to winter temperatures

Quick question - on my FitBit dashboard the Activity page that shows the steps by 5 minute intervals, the bars are not showing up. If I move my mouse across it tells me the numbers but the bars don't show. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Hello fitbitters
SianS, I wish you a good run tomorrow. I did not experience your problem with the Dashboard so don't know how to help. Umleilla. I wish you a nicer weather but i guess it will probably not happen for a while :frown: the weather here in NY is not bad however, I do a large bulk of my workout before sunrise so I work in my mini gym in our basement where I have a treadmill, an elliptical and a weight machine, for example today by the time I got to work at 8 a.m. I already did over 11000 steps.perhaps you should get yourself a treadmill. i love having it at home. This way I don't have to worry about the weather and I don't waste time getting to the gym. At work it is really terrible, I'm tied to my desk most of the day. I even have my lunch by the computer. In a good day with a major effort I do 3500 steps, today it was an extremely busy day so from 8-5 did only 2500 steps. Then I do the rest in the evening to get to my goal of 20K. It is now 8:45 pm and I'm almost there  Penny enjoy your vacation, lovely pics  and to all the rest of you I wish a great weekend with plenty of steps. We have a long weekend due to Labor Day holiday
Sian...that is odd on your dashboard. Did you try a complete reboot?

Betsy, are you able to send a note to Ann perhaps...tell her we asking about her on this forum:) By the way, start slow, don't rush your steps. Better to work up to it.

Hope you all have a great 5:2 and fitbit weekend and someone start our weekly chat on Sunday morning:)
I am expecting a full, long holiday weekend here. Not sure where it will take me in step counts. Hope to find time to get them in because we have some big meals and activities planned over the next few days. Also, hubby talked me into purchasing all the makings of a peanut butter pie along with frozen drinks at the grocery tonight. So, I may be cheering you all with toasts of mango margaritas and strawberry daquiris! Hope you all have a great weekend. Step it UP, Fitbitters!! Happy Last Blast of Summer, y'all!
GoLinda, anybody can message a forum member if they have allowed PM's, but as far as I can tell, Ann hasn't been back here for several weeks. Perhaps, a message can be sent on the fitbit site? I haven't figured all the in's and out's over there yet.
