Janet, would you say that the Harry Potter trip was worth the money? The kids are begging to go but it's going to be £100+ for the five of us!

Would they be suitable for the gym? Need replacement trainers and have been considering these.

I think they would be fine for the gym. They are not as sturdy on the soles as trainers, they flex and move with your foot. No good for the running machine, but great for cycling/spinning, training etc. And the bonus is you can wash them when they're stinky!

They are more like a traditional plimsoll than a trainer, but with a bit more cushioning. I'm off to the National Space Centre near Leicester with school tomorrow, and they will be on my feet for the 7 hours I'm there.

I was so inspired by this topic that I went to our local outlet centre and bought a pair of grey skechers Go Walk shoes for £34.99! Like most people I had to go down a size, so ended up with a UK size 5, which is a USA size 8!

I haven't actually been for a walk in them yet but have worn them around the house and they are very comfortable. We are off to Germany by train on Thursday and I think that they will be perfect for eleven hours travelling.

4flipsake: I did notice while I was there that they do a lovely range of trainers, both lightweight and more traditional, if you find that the Go Walk range don't suit for the gym.

Oh Honeybee, if you only knew how long it took me to decide, find and then figure out how to upload a suitable avatar....all one evening.....good job OH was out! Glad you like it.

How's your dog coping with this hot weather? Max loves to end his walks by going in the beck to cool off...feel like joining him at times but haven't mastered the art of shaking myself dry just yet!

I wore my new shoes last night to WI and lots of people were very interested! I should be packing for Germany now but instead I'm here - trying to stop thinking about lunch! I'm fitting in one more fast before we leave for Germany tomorrow. We're looking forward to seeing our granddaughters again, having not seen them since March.

We haven't had much hot weather here in South Lincolnshire but our black lab, Susie, takes herself off into the nearby Fen 'drain' when she gets too warm. She then comes back covered with all sorts of detritus and has to be hosed down in the yard!

Keep walking, everyone! No excuse now we have our Go Walk shoes!

Sorry have been busy busy helping at school so have not been here for a few days!

Dog has been ok in the hot weather, we live near the river Thames so she goes for a nice swim. I trained her to shake to command, so she is not too wet after! Most dogs shake once or twice when they get out of the water, I can get her to shake two or three more times!

People do look strangely at me though; to get her to do it, I have to wiggle my shoulders while saying 'shaky shaky'
