Sketchers 'Go Walk' shoes
27 Apr 2013, 19:58
Hi to all,

Has anyone tried these Sketchers Go Walk shoes? I ordered a pair after a friend raved about them, and the reviews online seem good. I have incorporated more walking into my exercise regime, especially now our old and arthritic dog is now on NSAIDs and is now happy to go walkies 60-90 mins! Poor thing could only manage 20 mins a few weeks ago.

Will post again when they arrive and I've tried them!

a couple of my friends swear by them, I must say that I'm very tempted to treat myself to a pair.
Lovely to hear about your dog :-)

The only thing putting me off was the price, £40 ish is a lot for a pair of plimsolls! I saw on YouTube that you can wash them in the washing machine, so that clinched it.

Thanks for the kind words about our dog. It was making me so upset to see her struggling to get up, had to be lifted into the car and so on. Seeing her quality of life improve has made such a difference to the whole family :-)

I have a pair of Sketcher shoes, not sure if it the style you are interested in but the ones I have are fabulous. Like you I do about 90 minutes a day brisk walking and they just are so comfortable, much better than my, now redundant, walking boots.

So glad your dog is able to get out and about a bit more, the walking will do her good,

Ballerina x

yes, medication is a brilliant thing. Poor old dogs don't understand why they can't do what they want to anymore do they?
My dogs lost a toe nail a couple ofmonths ago, he was fine but it meant he was bandaged up and couldn't go out to walk - it felt so odd to be walking without him.

I'd be interested to see how you get on with your shoes, I stuggle getting on with new shoes.

Yes chichi I did look for them on eBay, but by the time I had won, paid the postage etc, it was only a few quid more to get them from a proper shop! I ordered them online as my local branch didn't have my size, but I can easily return/swap for a different size if I need it in the store.

Sunnyskies and izzy, what kind of dogs do you have?

Possibly a daft question but here we go - are these shoes that you could wear outside in the rain (hard to tell from the pics)

Hi Sian,

You can wear them in the rain, although they won't keep your feet dry!

They are ok to get wet as they are washable. I'm sure they dry very quickly.

I think Sketchers were making an 'ultimate' version in the autumn last year, which has a waterproof coating to help with wetter walks. I considered getting these at first, but I really want them for warmer weather. They are harder to find now as websites have sold those off, and have moved to the new colours in the breathable mesh jersey upper for spring & summer. If they continue to be popular I expect the ultimate ones will be back later in the year!

Hahahaha I asked for that didn't I?

I'm going to have a look for local stockists, as most online reviews of them talk about sizing issues :like:

Oh, like the sound of these shoes - think I'll have to investigate. I was given a pair of FitFlops for my birthday last year - and they are absolutely fantastic - love them - great for the summer (open toe variety, like flipflops). Let us know how you get on with them when they arrive Honeybee

I've just ordered a pair of these(actually 3 pair in 3 different sizes and I'll keep the one that fits and send the others back) and I'm hoping they're as good as the reviews online.

I too was told to go down a size, normally I'm a 6.5 but have ordered a 6. DH is going to Colorado next week so originally I thought I could get him to buy me a pair there. Then I was worried about getting the wrong size and when we looked online the price was almost the same as the UK!

I have an almost 11 yr old black lab, the love of our lives. I knew that labs are much more prone to joint problems in later life, but it was just so sad when it hit her. Her shape changed, she has become 'front heavy' like a swimmer as she has been using her front legs to do all the work.

Izzy, my uncle had a staffie cross for many years, also a rescue dog like yours. One of the soppiest animals I have ever met.

Suchard, will certainly post back when I've tried them. Should be here tomorrow or Tuesday! Funny thing, I also own some Fitflops, but they never fitted that well last year. They wouldn't stay on. Since I have lost weight they feel better, and I think it's because the tops of my feet have got slimmer :-)
