Every day there will be a new topic in this forum for today's fasters to chat & support each other.
Please don't make extra threads in here besides the daily fasting threads, if you've got a question please post it in the relevant forum or ask in today's 'Fasting Today' thread, thank you.
JAQ wrote: I honestly feel like weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
I'm not constantly thinking about food, about weight, stressing myself to the point of exhaustion and desperation when the scales don't show a loss.. It is what it is, i'm trying my best, and internally I feel fantastic.
Hello @JAQ - good to meet you and I enjoyed reading your introduction (maybe you can post this in a separate introduction thread about yourself so that even forum members who are not fasting today will have an opportunity to welcome you).
I strongly agree that weight loss doesn't typically cooperate well with stress or desperation and it has its own schedule that is impervious to our desires and emotional schedule. Well done on identifying exercise activities that you enjoy rather than just endure!
It's sometimes useful to have a baseline set of measurements so that we can track our progress over time. This can be using a tape measure in several spots and repeating on a regular basis: photographs in as little clothing as you can bear from several angles, and likewise repeated regularly, in the same place, lighting conditions etc. Some people have baseline blood work and they track improvements that way. I didn't do any of these and regret it as the weighing scales are readily available but the least accurate proxy for monitoring the changes.
Good Luck with 5:2 and I look forward to following your progress updates.
I'm in for my regular Monday fast ...
Looks like it might just be a lovely spring day here in Sussex ....feeling in a very positive frame of mind this morning as our runway is finally drying out and I might get to go flying at the weekend for the fist time in over 3 months
Only a week of work to get through first !
Black coffee and water now until my protein bar at 1pm but hubby is away for work so there are no temptations in the house so it should be a good day.
Good luck and happy fasting
Good luck fellow fasters
@JAQ what a wonderful thing to write! You really are in a perfect place now aren't you...and long may it last! As SSure says, why not introduce yourself in the introduction part, so we can all get to know you and send you good vibes!
@gigi55? That sounds like an amazing experience. Swimming with waves crashing around you. How exhilarating!
Right, let the day commence...meatballs tonight...spicy meataballs!!
Glad to have discovered this forum/website.
I am on fasting day, too. Being vegan, I will go for asparagus at lunch and probably broccoli with vegan yeast. Might add some quinoa pasta (but have to do the math). My issue is not eating enough on feast day. Any vegan out there willing to cope? Thanks!!!
I'm in with you all today. This is week 2 of my return to 5:2. Fasted twice last week.....& it was like I had never been away...in terms of manageability.
Had a small victory yesterday when I resisted turning to chocolate to comfort myself after a distressing fallout with my 11year old daughter. Kids can certainly say some awful things when they are angry. I found my mood sliding rapidly...and a little voice in my head said "you could do with some chocolate because you are so upset". Amazingly, I refused to go along with it. I never refuse to go along with it. Food is my weapon of choice, always has been the only way I know how to be nice to me. Very much hope that belief is shifting...
Big welcome @jaq - I really enjoyed reading your very wise post & totally agree that if you get a mo, you should "introduce yourself" so that more forum members can get to know you!
Actually, I love reading all the posts because it makes me realise that I am not alone in this...
Best of luck everyone - have a great day! Xx
Good luck @pilch and happy hols @skinnyjeans
@gigi55 always great to see you here x
What a great post@JAQ and yes @stephd i wd say an occasional 600 cal fast still counts..
Or 600 cals each time if TDEE is 2400 ( four times 600)
Its always a very low cal day anyhoo and if those cals are eaten for example 18:6, you ' ll get the fasting benefits ( we hope!) x
@nursebean good luck on yr first 4:3 week! X
Am joining in with the fast day. Been away from the forums and the 5;2 diet for a while, this is the third week of my 5:2 restart. I fast two consecutive days at the moment, am feel hungry but also strong. Hope you all have a good fast day!
I'm in today because I have put on a couple of pounds more than I would like to be carrying around! As a 'maintainer' I have developed some rather bad habits and have been snacking on sugary foods far too much. IT HAS TO STOP, so I am fasting to remind myself that being on maintenance is not a license to over-indulge every day! Black tea and water until dinner this evening. Same old, same old - but we do it because we're worth it!
I hope you all have a good day.
Wow! That is SOME ginger! (nice though )
So here I am for my regular Monday fast.
I am trying to do the same thing I am having an awful day with work , but working at home so it would be so easy to slip into the kitchen and have a little something to quell the rage.
Instead I am going to walk away from my laptop for 2 minutes .. and put on some uplifting perfume and have a huge sniff !
I'm completely driven by my nose which is probably how I ended up here in the first place
