I love reading about what everyone eats across the world! :like: and was just wondering what Kombucha is...
I'm in! There might be sabotage this afternoon though because I'm off to a funeral at lunchtime and there is a buffet at the (dreadful) local pub. I know it'll be very poor..mostly heated up frozen pastry things. If possible (without being impolite!) I'll avoid it all.
Good luck peeps! :clover:
I am fasting today, in case you are all wondering where people are. My second fast this year. I love having something to keep me on the right track, since people keep still giving us chocolates and I love them. When it is not Christmas time I have zero sweets.
My ankle is not sore. But the weather here makes walking very hard. Sigh! It is snowing, freezing and then melting. So all the walk ways are like ice rinks. Takes the joy definitely out of walking. I am already waiting for spring....
@CandiceMarie I've taken some magnesium (thanks for the reminder as I always forget). I've also done some stretches so here's hoping the legs don't jump about and I sleep. I hope you sleep well when it gets to night there.
I'm in today, my stomach is howling already! Not a good sign. Dog walk done, dog taken to the vets for her annual vaccinations and check up. How much!!! But she is now at an acceptable weight ( she put weight on when I couldn't walk her due to my back playing up) this is despite the chicken stealing incident and the fact that she worked out how to break into her food box and has been merrily chomping her way through a ton of dog food! So yay her. Now it's just up to me to get to an acceptable weight!
Have an exciting day today, ironing and changing bed sheets, may even push the boat out and hoover Mins bedroom!! Oh this rock n roll lifestyle I lead! :)
Tonights offering will be prawn and mushroom curry........roll on dinner time.

Enjoy the fast everyone x
I'm in today, for the second and final fast of the week (yay). I'm a lunch and dinner 5:2er, so looking forward to some soup in an hour or so, then omelette and veg this evening. Tummy temporarily not rumbling thanks to a big coffee earlier, will be hitting the fizzy water hard this afternoon I expect!

Have a good one everybody
@chinchin Yes, we've just started brewing our own kombucha and water kefir. We have just been using English Breakfast tea but I will soon start to experiment. I thought you needed the tannin from black teas?

Kombucha is fermented tea. It converts sugar into good gut bacteria, like yoghurt, only different bacteria. They say that modern life has impoverished our inner bacterial flora and fauna and we need to eat more fermented products to reintroduce them to our system. We did a course in it a few weeks ago and are all keen about ferments.

My day is ending. I went for a walk in the evening, as I slept in this morning and it is too hot in the middle of the day. Unfortunately the down side of that was that I was preparing a very easy and simple dinner when I got home, but I got RAVENOUS and started consuming nuts, apricots, biscuits with butter...... while I was cooking tea. And dinner only touched the edges - and that was after a very good day of not feeling in the least hungry. It came on like a wild beast! Good night all and good fasts.
MaryAnn wrote: I am in. just having my afternoon miso soup now. I am eating out tonight, but at a yakitori place, so I think I'll be ok calorie wise.

I think I did ok but I'm so hungry now. Home cooked food is so much better on a fast day!
Thursday is such a popular day isn't it. Good luck everyone. Hope you have a great fast today
I am in today. A cold but sunny morning in Maryland.
I'm in, too. U3A accordion group this morning, so that was the morning dealt with. Now I am cooking chicken, leek and lentil soup and it smells delicious! Sadly, I am not due to eat for another four hours, so I will have the smell wafting through the house all afternoon. What a temptation to have to resist! :starving:
I hit the 'Hotel Chocolat' chocolates yesterday evening - only four but that was on top of normal food all day, so I need to have a good fast to try and counter all those delicious calories. At least I stopped at four! In the old days I would have emptied the whole box! :pig2:
Good luck all! Keep busy, keep hydrated and keep on keeping on!
Hello all you Thursday fasters! I'm at it again here in the 9 F cold. At least if I feel cold fasting today I'll know it isn't me, it's the actual cold.
Hi from Boston in the US!

I wouldn't normally fast on a Thursday as I usually have events, but it's cancelled for the evening. This is my first week of fasting, and I'm starting with 4:3. It's gone really well, except that yesterday was my first NON-fasting day and I just could not finish all my calories; I should have eaten 600 more than I managed. I thought I was going out for dinner but I didn't, and I just didn't have much in the house except my old low-cal food from before starting on this WOE. In the end I just gave up eating since it was so late when I got home.

The rest of the week is going to be a 3-day party, so I'm not even going to try to count calories. I'm just going to TRY to eat mindfully.

Thanks for being there!
Liz
Hi, @Lizardline, and welcome to this wonderful WOE. I wouldn't worry too much about not eating all your calories yesterday - just look on it as a bonus - especially if you have a few calorie-laden days ahead of you! I wouldn't suggest eating that far below your TDEE very often but occasionally is fine. Good luck with the mindful eating - after two years, I still haven't mastered it consistently, but I live in hope!
