slimming for summer
16 Apr 2018, 09:31
Hello everyone! It has been rather quiet here recently. I have been enjoying eating food and chocolate eggs etc. Yum! But summer is coming here in the Northern hemisphere and I am still too fat to fit into my summer clothes. So I am starting fasting again. My window fasting. Just one meal and a snack every day. that ought to help with the weight loss. Anyone else interested in the challenge?

Wow! One meal a day and a snack?! That sounds really harsh. Have you tried it before?!!

Today is my second day of fasting. Down half a kilo to 62.5 kg, Nursebean I fast like this all the time. Latest was my Lenten fasting where I lost 9 kg. I have not eaten anything yet today, only water and black tea to drink. At 15 hours I have my snack of black tea with some milk, and some plain yogurt with some blueberries and half a Granny Smith apple. then I have a low carb supper at 18:00 with no dessert. then I do not eat again until 15:00 the following day. I am quite used to this now. I have been doing it for years.
Last year I fell and broke my shoulder and did a lot of comfort eating. Put on a lot of weight. It is still this extra weight I am struggling to get rid of so as to fit into my clothes for summer. So there you have my story....

Well. my weight is going down. this morning I was 61.9 kg  I think I also failed to report that every day before I eat anything I also walk 5 kilometers. Luckily it is spring here and my nature walks are interesting because I can watch the signs of spring appear. Tussilago (Colts foot) plants and crocuses in our garden. Our local forest lake still has an ice covering. The seagulls are there waiting for it to melt. Most of the snow in our yard has now melted. Yea, this winter has been a long winter. But today is sunny and the thermometer says plus 14 Centigrade. :sun: :sun: :sun:

Slowly does it. This morning my weight was 61.8 kg. Today is an other warmish and sunny day. That makes me cheerful. though not eaten anything yet. All the snow has now melted in our garden and we have crocuses galore. Our island forest lake has not completely thawed yet. There were many seagulls walking on the ice. I think they are puzzled about the late spring as well. Yesterday we saw two swans on the melted part of the lake and also some blue wood anemones in our garden,

Good to hear how you are doing. I ate a lot of comfort food this past winter, also. I am having trouble getting back to 5:2, but seem to be able to do the window eating. I really need a challenge.
I am preparing meals for my aunt and husband, which I was not doing before. Hubby loved to cook, and I only worried about my own meal. Now it has all changed. They want certain things, yet have little appetite, so there are always leftovers! They are getting healthy food, and the dog can eat it also. No leftovers guilt! Just concerns about his health. At 96, my aunt can eat what she wants, but Joe's doctor is concerned about his health.

Hi @grannieannie, lovely to hear from you again. How kind of you to cook for your aunt and her husband. Do you share the meal(s) with them?

It seems a few people are using windows eating rather than 5:2 - cblasz of course, and some new members. Good luck with it! :clover:

Dear Grannieannie, nice to hear that you want to be part of this challenge. I wish I was a grannie too. My 2 children are both over 30 but there are no grandchildren as yet. This morning I was exactly 61 kg. So the weight is slowly going down. If I have learned anything from this intermittent fasting it is patience. Just keep on going even if there are no visible results. All the best to your efforts. (My hubby is very slim and he eats everything - not fair). :clover: :clover: :clover:

Oops. It is my husband, only 70 and very tired, sick, for a year! My aunt has no children, is 96 and lives with us. Some dementia. She was a big part of family. My brother and his wife took care of Mum till she died.

Maybe today would be a good day for fasting. It is finally spring weather. Our snow seems to have gone to Hawaii!

Hi @grannieannie

My misreading re your husband! Your aunt is very lucky to live with you, so much nicer for her than being in residential aged care. Wonderful that you do this, when you have your hubby who needs care as well.

Did you manage to fast?? Best wishes! :clover:

This morning my weight was 61.6 kg. The kinda food I ate last night always makes me put on weight. It was low carb, but still. I know this is only temporary rise in weight. Our local forest lake has finally lost its ice cover. And there are two swans there now.

Did not fast all day. I suddenly got very hungry around 2, so I ate a small meal. One meal, and no evening snack. It was better than my old attitude with diets of, "well, I broke diet, so I may as well pig out on all sugars.' It did have carbs, but progress.
