Hi fellow fasters!
Today is my first fast and so far, so good.
My stomach got very noisy around 10 this morning but that has stopped and at the moment I'm not feeling hungry.
Also quite pleased as I've worked out the so far I have fasted for 17 hours, not so bad eh?
Good luck to us all today.
Adam

I'm fasting today. My weight loss is slow and steady. Last week I had asmall gain I think due to 'sluggish digestion'. This week despite a weekend in a nice hotel in Stratford I have lost last week's gain and a bit more. I know we shouldn't be fixated with the scales but a loss is so motivating at the start of the week :)

Yup, Im in for a Monday fast, looking forward to the hunger pangs, does that sound weird?. I havent fasted for months now so I know today will be a struggle but I love that feeling of not being stuffed & once my brain & stomach get over themselves & their demanding ways, Im sure I will start to feel less groggy as my body adjusts to less food.I would also like to add that as a newbie & Iam so pleased to have found this site, I have read some of the other posts & can identify with finding that friends can be a tad negative when the word 'fast'is mentioned, so for me personally I will find this site usefull as a support system & hope I can be just as supportive in return.

Fasting today. Been on a bit of a level out since Christmas, plus not making the gym because of snow and then feeding a cold. Also, just had a great weekend at the caravan where we tend treat ourselves and laze about. However, now need to buy new belts to hold my trousers up :D. The sun is out and our garden is sheltered so today I started the spring tidy up which nicely helped me forget hunger pangs. Just had some soup and pitta bread to keep me going till tea time and will be heading back outside to burn off some of tho calories. 8-)

Hi all!

Eighth fast day for me - really need it today - feel I have pigged out over the last 4 days (moved my regular Thurs to Wed last week for V'day). It's quite nice to relax into not eating....

Half term adds a little difficulty to things tho - as others have said - small people eating lots of snacks does make saying no tougher...but I only need to be strong for one day!

Good luck to everyone - off to have another black coffee - roll on dinner time :)

Axx

Hi Everyone,

Hope you're all doing ok today.
I'm fasting today and was actually looking forward to it after 4 days of being a bit naughty!! Just about to eat my boiled egg, ryvita and cheese triangle for lunch with M&S veg moussaka later.

Keep positive :D :D :D

Fasting today after a decision not to fast on my usual Sunday. Nearly diner time and, as I'm away from home working, I have the delights of a very uninspiring buffet for dinner. If it's pasta again, I may scream. So, probably some hummous or moutabel, Arabic bread and fruit. Must stay away from the delicious Arabic sweets that I have been living on. All those nuts and pastry have to be good for you!

I too am fasting today - 3rd week, 5th fast. Food wise I was OK over the weekend but wine was my enemy. Tomorrow is my weigh day, so depending on what the scales and tape measure say, I may do 3 fasts this week. Since starting this 3 weeks ago, my 'functions' still haven't adapted and it's making me feel heavy and frankly, bunged up! How long till this settles down..?!?!

Well it may be unlucky number 13 fast for me, and with an hangover I thought it would be the toughest.. However aside from feeling sick earlier, I seem to have put the pangs at bay and it looks like I'll be coasting to 6pm and my chicken and veg!! Lost 16 lbs of the 17 I aimed to lose when I started this on 7th January so I am on the home straight !

Seeing results like this though, I am worried I might get addicted to this regime. I won't stop doing it but I will need a different eating strategy I guess to maintain rather than lose..
5th week, 9th fast and I'm also finding it tough. Have been prescribed painkillers 4 times a day which need to be taken with food, so instead of having one meal in the evening I have made 120 cals worth cottage cheese with chopped celery & red pepper and eaten some for breakfast and some for lunch. I've been drinking plenty of water but I seem to be headachey this afternoon inspite of the painkillers :? Also, I have only managed to lose 1/2 lb in 4 weeks :(

Hi fellow fasters, my 5th fast today and my weight in what was just on the right side of good. And I lost on my waist this week too! Lucky me. Been out today to Exeter Quays for a very chilly walk. Had a coffee at an outside cafe then walked back. Then panic, I realised had left my small rucksack handbag under the table. My husband ran back and retrieved it for me. Was my brain not working for lack of sustenance? I felt all right but maybe sort of dreamy.
My big discovery on this 5:2 diet is that I have come to realise that what I often thought was hunger is nothing more than desire for some food I could see in my mind. Mostly sweet stuff of course. On feeding days I have been able to say to myself 'No you are not hungry, wait for your meal' I also find that a drink of water takes the desire away. What a revelation at my great age. Why didn't I know that sooner? :P

Hi Everyone,

Its my very first fast today and I had planned broccoli and cheese soup for lunch - prawn and egg salad for dinner and 2 tangerines for 'desperate times'.

I was doing so well, I lasted until 2.00pm without feeling really hungry at all and then had the soup for a late lunch and now i am ravenous!! Is this normal? I am hoping a black coffee will take my mind off of it... I am also getting abit of a headache (nothing unbearable, but unusual as I rarely get them)...
