Fasting today - 27 February
27 Feb 2013, 00:22
It's my 3rd fast day, and so far so good.

The first time I fasted (last Thursday) I had 3 small meals for my 500 calories, and was not just hungry, but also cranky and had a headache. Not massively hungry, not massively cranky, and not a big headache, but enough to make me a bit blah. So next fast day (Monday just gone) I didn't eat until dinner. I found it so much easier. Hunger passed in waves, I drank loads of water and green tea, and never felt low on energy or any hint of a headache. I did feel pretty hungry after a small dinner, and I'm sure it was the eating that set it off.

So today I"m aiming for that again - loads of liquid, ignoring any waves on hunger and just getting on with the day, then a small dinner.

Totally have to agree with you. I don't even notice any sign of hunger when I just skip bfast and lunch, so much easier that way. I think I might end up doing a fast today as well.

I'll just check in with my game plan. I find that I can easily go without any sort of meal until about 6 or so, and even by then I don't really fancy anything.

Good luck!

Good morning all, I start my 5th fast today, I've been experimenting and though I have cereal with me to have at lunch time I will wait and see If I can go through to the evening with tea (with a splash of skimmed milk) and water.
Good luck all.

Morning all, I'm on my second week (4th fast today) and although I suffered headaches in my first week they have now disappeared and I feel so much better. I did wonder if I was eating to much on my non fast days but i got on the scales this morning to find i have dropped 5lbs so it definately works! I'm not sure i believed it would at first but I am definately converted and i find it so easy to stick to as I know that whilst I can't have chocolate today - I can tomorrow:)
Good luck to all fasting today:)

Good morning - you've cottoned on quicker than I did.

I've only just started having one meal a day on the fast day (after following this WOE since October 2012) and it works much better for me than splitting the calories into 2 or 3 meals. It seems to be bringing the weight off better too!
Can't say I don't feel hungry though, because I do, but it does pass.
Good luck everyone. :D

I'm wondering if I should fast today as well, I did yesterday and on my 6th week but have stalled the last 3wks and am creeping up again (gained a 1lb) I think I'm going to have to be more strict on feeding days (which I didn't want, the whole point I was drawn to this WOE in the first place) or try 4:3 anyone else moved to 4:3 and seen results?

Hi Everyone, I.m Lola and live in the UK. Have been on JUDDD for nearly a year now...but seem to have stalled since Xmas. Go up a llb on UD and down a lb on DD...so see saw. I am not sure that 5:2 will be insufficient calories for me to lose. I am also only abut 7lbs away from my goal. So very frustrating.

Chocobunny,

In response to your 4:3 question. I decided to try 4:3 starting last Thursday as an UD and followed with 2 more UD's (Fri and Sat) ...felt very strange!! I am having set DD's Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. All I can tell you is that after DD on Sunday I was down 2lbs...so was happy and was up half a pound since yesterday DD...so better than my previous weeks. All we can do is suck it and see. I will keep you posted. The only thing I am finding strange is that I am so used to doing alternative days during the week it feels quite strange to be thinking about a double or treble UD. Hopefully, that will keep me on track to not eat too much on the UD. Let's try and see.

Morning all fellow fasters! 2nd fast day of the week for me - but I may extend to fasting on Friday too as I've got a big birthday celebration on Saturday which could involve some feasting !! So I think I'd better prepare for that. Have had my usual porridge this morning - just can't seem to start the day without it - but I may give it another go on Friday and see how far through the day I can get without food. If I don't have breakfast I usually end up with a headache come lunchtime - but as I'm not working this Friday if a headache starts I can quickly counter attack with some food :) Excuse my ignorance, and I know it'll be obvious when you tell me, but what's UD, DD and JUDDD Lola? Good luck to everyone fasting today

Hi all,
I am also fasting today, am going to have to rethink feast days tho' as literally 'eating what I like' doesn't seem to work - have been off bread for months and had bacon sarnies yesterday lunchtime, resulting in me me being starving by 5 and eating cheese and beetroot at 5, then dinner and pudding with wine in the evening so am thinking I will have to rethink it down to 2000 on a feast day?
Today will be omelette for late breakfast, homemade soup and chicken salad as usual on a Wednesday.
Good luck guys.

I am a 'Wednesday Faster' too. As this is my 12th fast day in total and I have lost next to nothing I too am going to try not to have the soup I have with me for lunch time but try to manage to get through until this evening. Although I might have to eat something prior to going to my Zumba class - we will see. I am reluctant to start a third weekly fast day as a regular thing but think I might try an additional weekday where I fast through until the evening and then have a 'normal' dinner. There has to be some sort of programme that will work for me - I just don't seem to have found it yet.I love reading everyone's stories and hope that mine don't simply come over as a constant whinge! Apolgies if so. I do really hope to be the 'spreader of good news' at some point. Thanks just for being there everyone.

I have found (through trial and error) that it is easier (for me) to have my 500 cals in one go in the evening. IfI have something small during the day my mind just goes 'Food! Great! Where's the rest?!' and I get a horrible craving. If, however, I have it clear in my mind 'No food until dinner time' I seemto manage much better. It's nice knowing there's a meal on the way and I won't go to bed feeling really deprived.. I get through plenty of water during the day too which can't be a bad thing. Hope you all have a good day. :-)

JUDDD is the Johnson up day down day diet. It is a version of alternate day fasting (ADF), but with added products you can buy from the good Dr Johnson at a cost. So UD is up day (i.e. feed day), DD is down day (fast day).

Good morning all.
2nd fast of the week for me, fitting an extra one in this week as only managed one last week. I have at least a couple of stone to get rid of so plan to stick to 5:2 meantime & just using 4:3 occasionally that way I've still got it up my sleeve for when I plateau as inevitably I will if my vast dieting experience is anything to go by!
Part of me is still afraid this WOE is just too easy/ to good to be true! ;)

I may try and carry on through too today, normally I have bran flakes or weetabix mid-morning but I'm not particularly hungry so I may take them with me to work (just in case) but try go through to tea time on fluids...

Good luck to everyone fasting today! :)
