Morning fellow fasters - Extra fast day for me today (3rd this week) as I've got a feasting weekend (my mum's surprise 80th birthday party) - so I know more than the usual will pass my lips!! I usually have a small breakfast on a fast day as I'm usually at work, but I don't work Fridays so today I'm going to see how long I can go before I have to cave in. Otherwise it'll be a freshly made green pepper soup tonight (yum) or sooner if I can't last that long! Friday's my weekly weigh in day and I've not lost weight this week - first time in weeks :( so another good reason for a 3rd fast day this week (shouldn't have had that glass of wine and creme brulee at the pub last night me thinks  Never mind. Good luck and have a good day all fasters out there

Hi all

Fasting today as yesterday was my birthday and I 'went for it'. It's 11.30 and not even a hunger pang!!! That'll be the salmon en croute, sauted mushrooms, wilted greens and chunky chips. Followed very closely by a very yummy eaton mess and of course washed down by two glasses of Merlot...

Blooming well enjoyed it - I couldn't even imagine the calories. No fasting this weekend, however I am determined to eat healthy and well and keep the junk to a minimum.

Hope everyone is doing ok...

38th, I think, fast for me today. Been to the doc to discuss BP...no reduction in meds yet :-( but it is lower than it has been :-). Been shopping to get some fish and veggies for tonight's 500 cal meal. Also got a present and card for a friend's little girl whose birthday is tomorrow. Back now and having a cup of black coffee with cinnamon while I read through all the new posts on here!

Struggling today....last fast day was Tuesday...so far just water and 2 black coffees, but feel weak and shaky.....felt low mood-wise when I woke up, so don't know what is going on. Had a stressfull week family-wise. Determined to keep going....but struggling as I said x

Change of fast day for me too. I usually fast on Mondays and Thursdays but this week it has been Tuesday & Friday. I gained a quarter of a pound last week, due to being away and no fasting, but I am hoping that this week I will have lost that and, hopefully, a little more.

Nothing to eat so far, only black tea (my usual choice of hot drink) and water with a little lemon juice. Looking forward to dinner tonight and keeping busy by doing the VAT return. The things we 5:2-ers are driven to in order to keep out of the kitchen! What do other people do?

Good luck to everyone fasting today. Keep strong - it does get easier!

Demi - and any other breastfeeding moms out there - I think a 500 cal fast day is way too low!
http://www.weightwatchers.com/util/art/ ... t_id=24571

I personally think that as a breastfeeding mom, you shouldn't go below 1000 calories on a fast day. Now maybe 4000 calories on a feed day is a bit excessive ;-) but even Weight Watchers suggests adding 500 calories per day to their plans for breastfeeding moms. Breastfeeding will greatly up your TDEE and therefore your fasting calories should definitely be higher too

Good luck!!

Oh, and I'm in for a fast today as well. I made a pot of veggie curry last night, so I wouldn't have to cook from scratch while super hungry - tends to make me a bit cranky >.<

I'm also fasting today - my third fast since starting last Friday. I've found the fasting ok but have tended to somewhat over-compensate on my non-fast days, leading to minimal weight loss! I now know to look out for this in future though and will aim to not eat my weight in chocolate next week!!

This is my first fast in the office and, whilst I'm being kept busy, it is slightly more difficult as people around me are happily munching away on crisps, baguettes and cookies. The fact that I'm (hopefully) doing my body the world of good by fasting is a real motivator though!

Good luck to fellow fasters :)

I am also fasting today as had people to lunch yesterday so I knew I would eat !! This is about my 14th fast and to be honest I havent lost much weight but I feel SO GOOD !! I am over 60 and honestly dont expect to loose weight overnight as it has taken about 40 years to arrive..HOWEVER..this whole idea has made me look so differently at food. I have a great tip..I really wanted a doughnut the other day..so..I bite the jammy bit of it and threw the rest in the bin..haha!!
I had to go to the dentist this morning to have a tooth rebuilt..(YES! I hate him!!!!) so no breakfast and now as I still have a numb side to my mouth I have just had a tin of tomato soup. I would LOVE a glass of wine but I am not going to !!
Just DO it people..this makes so much sense and it HAS to work in the end..I am absolutely and totally refuse to ever go to a gym!! GOOD LUCK ! think of it as a cleansing day!

I'm on my third fast of the week, today, as I'm doing 4:3 for a bit. It seems to work best for me if I save all my calories for the evening. I go to the gym while my husband is having his lunch and have the 'treat' of a diet coke after that. :) Otherwise, I just stick to tea (Oolong or Darjeeling, so not too strong and tannic) without milk, and water, for the rest of the day.

I'm still having a bit of difficulty with not eating too much on the 'feast' days but am getting more experienced at managing things. So far, so good, and my weight is coming off again. At 61, I can't expect a youthful metabolism and I'd want to take my time anyway as that's how I lost the previous 20 kgs before switching to this when plain old calorie restriction stalled.

It's my fifth Fast day, and I'm finding it the hardest so far. I had an egg and biscotte at 11.00 (120 cals), a cup a soup at 2.00 (54 cals) and I'm waiting for 7.00 to have my Moroccan Style Potato Bake (223 cals) with a big salad and an Options hot chocolate. The rest of the time it's fruit tea and a couple of coffees. I can feel my stomach starting to tell me very firmly that it's time to eat - and I have to tell it (equally firmly) that no, actually it ISN'T time to eat!!
If I'd lost loads of weight it might be easier...I've only lost about 800g so I am trying hard not to feel discouraged. After all, it's the other health benefits as well as the weight loss that are just as important!

Well it is 7-45pm & I have had my supper of a very small amount of chicken stir fried in a little olive oil with a load of vegetables, fresh ginger, garlic, onions & a little sweet chilli sauce. The calories for chicken I have worked out but I guesstimate the veg calories about 200 at the most. This is my 8/9th fast & was a very easy day with me not feeling hungry at all with drinks up until supper. I did keep busy with washing & ironing & reading posts on this forum is wonderfully distracting & inspiring. This was by far the easiest fast day so far in contrast to last Tuesday's fast that I kept to but felt more emotionally difficult. Coping with fast days seems to certainly get easier the more you do, so to my fellow fasters who have had a difficult day stick in there because it does get easier. :D

Hi fellow fasters,

I've struggled today. Ate loads of chocolate yesterday and woke up feeling hungry. Managed not to eat breakfast, but was glaring at people on the train platform who were eating (not really many of them) and looking longingly at a fry up a man was eating in a cafe I passed on the way to the station.

I was at work which took my mind off eating for a bit and had cottage cheese salad for lunch (really I wanted a BLT panini!).

Felt hungry most of the afternoon too, despite having lunch. I have had another low cal meal just now - chicken with a bit of veg. Don't feel hungry now luckily.
The moral of the story is - don't have too much sugar the day before a fast day!

Thank god I have managed a successful fast day... been struggling lately as weight stalled the last 4 wks so i lost motivation. After another failed fast day yesterday, I knew I had to do one today as have my brother staying for the weekend, and won't get chance to get my 2nd fast in till Monday... ( i weigh in on Wednesdays). I was soo hungry this morning i could've eaten my own arm, but started painting the hallway and it did the trick, Didn't eat till 7pm and just had 400 calories, so room for a low calorie hot choc if I need it. If I don't lose weight this week I'm giving up!
Well done those who fasted today nearly over!
