Every day there will be a new topic in this forum for today's fasters to chat & support each other.
Please don't make extra threads in here besides the daily fasting threads, if you've got a question please post it in the relevant forum or ask in today's 'Fasting Today' thread, thank you.
Fasting today as yesterday was my birthday and I 'went for it'. It's 11.30 and not even a hunger pang!!! That'll be the salmon en croute, sauted mushrooms, wilted greens and chunky chips. Followed very closely by a very yummy eaton mess and of course washed down by two glasses of Merlot...
Blooming well enjoyed it - I couldn't even imagine the calories. No fasting this weekend, however I am determined to eat healthy and well and keep the junk to a minimum.
Hope everyone is doing ok...
Nothing to eat so far, only black tea (my usual choice of hot drink) and water with a little lemon juice. Looking forward to dinner tonight and keeping busy by doing the VAT return. The things we 5:2-ers are driven to in order to keep out of the kitchen! What do other people do?
Good luck to everyone fasting today. Keep strong - it does get easier!

I personally think that as a breastfeeding mom, you shouldn't go below 1000 calories on a fast day. Now maybe 4000 calories on a feed day is a bit excessive but even Weight Watchers suggests adding 500 calories per day to their plans for breastfeeding moms. Breastfeeding will greatly up your TDEE and therefore your fasting calories should definitely be higher too
Good luck!!
Oh, and I'm in for a fast today as well. I made a pot of veggie curry last night, so I wouldn't have to cook from scratch while super hungry - tends to make me a bit cranky >.<
This is my first fast in the office and, whilst I'm being kept busy, it is slightly more difficult as people around me are happily munching away on crisps, baguettes and cookies. The fact that I'm (hopefully) doing my body the world of good by fasting is a real motivator though!
Good luck to fellow fasters
I had to go to the dentist this morning to have a tooth rebuilt..(YES! I hate him!!!!) so no breakfast and now as I still have a numb side to my mouth I have just had a tin of tomato soup. I would LOVE a glass of wine but I am not going to !!
Just DO it people..this makes so much sense and it HAS to work in the end..I am absolutely and totally refuse to ever go to a gym!! GOOD LUCK ! think of it as a cleansing day!
I'm still having a bit of difficulty with not eating too much on the 'feast' days but am getting more experienced at managing things. So far, so good, and my weight is coming off again. At 61, I can't expect a youthful metabolism and I'd want to take my time anyway as that's how I lost the previous 20 kgs before switching to this when plain old calorie restriction stalled.
If I'd lost loads of weight it might be easier...I've only lost about 800g so I am trying hard not to feel discouraged. After all, it's the other health benefits as well as the weight loss that are just as important!
I've struggled today. Ate loads of chocolate yesterday and woke up feeling hungry. Managed not to eat breakfast, but was glaring at people on the train platform who were eating (not really many of them) and looking longingly at a fry up a man was eating in a cafe I passed on the way to the station.
I was at work which took my mind off eating for a bit and had cottage cheese salad for lunch (really I wanted a BLT panini!).
Felt hungry most of the afternoon too, despite having lunch. I have had another low cal meal just now - chicken with a bit of veg. Don't feel hungry now luckily.
The moral of the story is - don't have too much sugar the day before a fast day!
Well done those who fasted today nearly over!
