I thought I'd take the honor of starting this weeks posts just because I wanted to tell you I had a brilliant day today.

Last year I took up dinghy sailing. That's they type they do at the olympics. It means squeezing into a wet suit and freezing your wotsits off. Call it a mid life crisis but I hit 45 last year and refused to right myself off so decided to join my two daughters in their Sunday, summer hobby. One of the organisers took me under his wing and got me on the water. I loved it. The sailing season finished at the end of September and I was starting to get confident. This year the season started 5 weeks ago in the howling gales. Today was the first day we've been and to say I was nervous and had lost my confidence was an understatement. I got into my wetsuit with great ease which is not a good thing as they are meant to be tight to trap a layer of water to keep you warm! After my organiser friend gave me a few reminders I was off. It was misty and cold with a gentle breeze - it was just fantastic.

I made harissa chicken for tea tonight and that is me starting another liquid fast but that is enough about me. Is anyone else joining me and what have you done this weekend?

That sounds fabulous Wildmissuss! Not sure I'd enjoy the freezing bit, but the sailing sounds wonderful. I took up roller derby a month after I turned 40, but it was months later that I realised the timing and wondered if it was my mid life crisis. I'm not ready to be middle aged yet!
I've had a lovely weekend, Saturday was catching up with some good friends, I was introduced to Jamesons and cloudy apple juice, so Sunday was a very relaxing day with fish and chips for dinner. Bring on a liquid fast today!
Ooo..Kata roller derby sounds good, painful but good. What is Jamesons?
Hello all, I'm in for the next 36r! Had a lovely weekend , watching son play basketball yesterday and seeing my folks then back today. Lovely drive up weather fantastic lots of stops for a wee bit fresh - and warm - air! Ooh and a wee trip to ikea, retail therapy! Happy fasting
I'm in for liquid fast see how I go
Had a quieter weekend rounded it up with coffee and cake after the movies by the bay.
All the best for this fast
Hi! I have fallen off the wagon the last couple of weeks are can feel the inches creep back on!!! I did a 36er couple of weeks ago & felt brilliant!! I am going to try it tomorrow. Here's hoping good luck all will meet again on here tomorrow evening got a long day ahead of me...
Jamesons is an Irish whiskey. I normally don't mix whiskeys, like them straight up or with a dash of water, but this was really tasty.
Thanks, wildmissus, I'd not long been back from the cricket when you started this thread - and well done on the squeezing into wet suits front! :like:

Because of the cricket it was decided we'd have our usual roast tomorrow and fast today - but, since I was eating up until midnight last night, I could only manage 20 hours before I had a 300 calorie meal. Not sure when I'll eat tomorrow...
Count me in again!
This will be my 5th week of fasting, and I'll be liquid fasting on Monday and Wednesday. I'll probably do a 500 cal fast on Friday too, as that's what I've been doing the last 3 weeks and have lost 2lb each week. It would be great if I can keep that going.

Good luck everyone!
Speaking of Irish whiskey, here's something for fellow rosacea sufferers: for some of us hard liquor does not make our faces flush the way that wine and beer does. I'm able to have my favorite I Whiskey or Bourbon with water without flushing. My dermatologist warned that every time the face flushes, there is increasing danger of those permanent broken veins.

Congratulations to all of you for embarking on this journey and being so encouraging to the rest of us.
So that flushing my face does when I drink wine has a name? I thought it was something in the wine I was reacting to (possibly 220 preservative, because I get it with cider which has that too, but not beer and that doesn't have the 220). Thanks Marybeth, off to do a google on it now!
No, that's not me, it's only when I drink, back to my original thinking it's probably 220. Don't you love my random google/forum diagnosis - promise I go to the doctor if it's something serious ;)
Dinghy sailing sounds fun Wildmissus, but definitely cold! And I don't think I'd have the courage to even try roller derby KataMac; have you had any significant injuries? I took up yoga...

I've decided to join you all again this week. Youngest daughter had a Eurovision party on the weekend and the idea of not eating anything today is very appealing! I was going to do some gardening but the weather is miserable and wet so looks like it'll be indoor activities instead, with plenty of water and some black coffee to keep me going. Have a good day everyone! :clover:

No major injuries, just loads of bruises and a bruised tailbone. I had never watched derby when I started, but I found an old pair of skates, heard there was roller derby in town, and just jumped straight in. So I didn't realise what I was getting into until I was already in love with it. The advantage of being a jump first, figure it all out later person
I can't compete with dinghy sailing and roller derby, but I'm in after an eat fest yesterday :)
