I'm in today too here in U.S.A (Ohio)...it is 9:30 am. Only liquids until dinner in about 9 hrs. Feeling a tad bit hungry but looking forward to a successful fast day! This is my 2nd week snd so far it has not been bad at all. Good luck all WE CAN DO ANYTHING WE PUT OUR MINDS TO!!!!!!!!!!
Hi - another newbie here. Today's my second go at fasting - the first time was OK though I resorted to fruit in the middle of the day. Today I'm trying to go through until this evening without succumbing to the apple calling to me from my bag!

Good luck to everyone.
My husband and I are in, too. We kept busy this morning, then a quick trip to the Garden Centre for bags of compost and a couple of conifers to the go in the oak half-barrels, which he is currently renovating. Nothing eaten yet - just black tea for me and coffee for him. I am supposed to be in the garden but came here for a bit of a break.

I need to fast today because yesterday I ate not one, but two, slices of home-made, triple layer, coconut cake, covered in frosting and dessicated coconut. However, I didn't worry myself too much about it - just enjoyed them! You have to love this WOE! Onwards and downwards!
Welcome to the forum Archie&Molly! Good luck with your fast. I'm in too, not even 7am here and already the tummy grumbles. :starving: But I will persevere always do.
Thanks Betsysgr8 - hope the tummy grumbles don't get too distracting and the day passes quickly.
Today was easy soup welcome at 12 then dinner ended up being ratatouille from forum with some lentils and chilli added ...rather yum though coveted DH version with added baked potato and chipolata sausages. Window shut and early opening tomorrow with coffee & lunch with friends.

Glad to get back on track as Monday fast went a bit over. Good fasting to peeps just starting out ...night
2nd fast of the week (and 46th overall - gulp!) for me. Finding it strangely hard going though today, which is very unusual...
this is probably my 20th fast day (or i should say attempted fast day) but rather than finding it getting easier I am finding the opposite- part of it is the boredom that ensues from not being able to eat and part of it is that i realize i use food to deal with my stressful job and my stress level just becomes very anxious making when i can't eat.

Last but not least I have some mental confusion about what really constitutes "fasting" - is it just keeping under the 500 cal (or 600 cal if you are a man) or is it in combination with a lengthy period of time without eating- for example i only had some coffee with a little soy milk this morning and was planning on having sashimi (no rice- just the fish) at lunch - this ends up keeping me from getting hungry and i love it but is it fasting? doesn't feel like it.
Are people having better luck just not eating at all until the evening meal? Will my body repair itself if i eat fish at lunch? etc etc.
Good luck to everyone - i really want to make this work because i have NEVER been successful at any other form of day in day out diet!
HI everyone!
I'm in today, too. It's different for me, as I'm not at work today so I'll have to try to stay busy and distracted. Also, it's way too hot for soup here in New York. The hardest part these last two weeks has been the alcohol. Something about summer sunshine makes me want a sparkling glass of prosecco! I'll just have to wait for tomorrow I guess!
Dbrady- I have never made it all day without eating, I usually have two meals and it seems to be working well for me. My advice is to stay under 500 cals and eat as few meals as you can without torturing yourself!
Yep me in too!
Quite a warm day here (which always helps) and I've kept myself busy with gardening, ironing etc.
A large mug of tea has just distracted me before I think about making the family evening meal which will be a low fat RosemaryConley recipe.
Did someone mention that there are recipes on the forum here? (Not sure where to find them)
Good luck and keep going chums - We can do it!
For me fasting simply takes the form of 500 calories or less in a day. I tend to have three meals during fasting days, I just mentally find it a lot easier if it feels like I'm following a normal eating pattern.
Today:
250g bowl strawberries and an alpen light bar
Sandwich made with 2 slices 55 calorie bread, M&S extra lean ham and 80g cucumber
omelette with 2 eggs, about 160g asparagus and a few sprays frylight to cook it.

I fasted yesterday too as I try to do 4:3 and Monday, Wednesday, Thursday were the only days that worked for me this week. Doing OK so far. Day off and trying to distract myself with housework - unfortunately too lazy to muster up much of a distraction.
Thanks all who responded to my cry of woe- helps a lot to know it works if you just pay attention to the calories!
Fasting today. Tried something different for lunch, a green salad with a bit of turkey lunch meat on top and some dressing. I didn't like it and now I'm unsatisfied which is not a good way to be on a fasting day! I usually have a salad of some kind but will definitely skip the soggy lunch meat! Otherwise doing well.Keep it up everybody!
Pretty new to this but seems to be reaping rewards already. Just in from work so will head off to walk the dog in the Scottish rain. Find it helps to just keep busy on a fasting day. Have my calorie intake at breakfast and then that's it. Don't trust myself to stop at a sparrow sized portion if serving up something later in the day! I'm an all or nothing sort of guy.
my first fast day - had a cup of coffee with very little cream - hope that wasn't a bad start - hopeful about this diet - especially since fast days don't have to be together thank goodness - very hot today in san mateo (CA, USA), going to make some shave ice with 0 calorie soft drink, going food shopping with the kids, mostly in the vegetable section - hope being around all that food won't ruin my willpower (what willpower?)
