Jisbill, you can eat what you want on a fast day, up to your 500 cal limit. A lot of people including me, avoid carbs like bread because they are relatively high calorie and often make you much hungrier afterwards (high GI.
Sorry about your headache, a lot of people get them early on, although I didn't, there are a lot of threads on here about coping with/ avoiding headaches :clover:

I've just had some soup for lunch, which was lovely and all part of my 'oooh look, you can still eat decently on 500cals' but now I feel more hungry than I did before I ate it!

:(

Hang in there millysaurus! Sorry to hear the soup made you more hungry but the hunger will pass.

I had vitamin D for lunch, went outside to sit on the (very scorched) lawn for half an hour or so and just enjoyed the sun and read my book.

More tea and water now through the afternoon, not sure what to have for dinner if anything, might try to leave it as late as possible and have something quite high protein, maybe a couple of eggs. We're going camping for a few days tomorrow so need to eat everything from the fridge that needs eating but I'll leave that to my boyfriend this time.

I'm in today. Maybe an egg scramble for supper. My son and brother usually eat what I cook and augment it with additional food. My brother says that he is losing weight - and he isn't 5:2ing!

My husband and I are in today. Nothing for me until dinner this evening, although he is already complaining about being hungry and it's only mid afternoon! :starving: I suspect that I may hear furtive foraging in the kitchen very shortly!

We need to have a good fast today because it's our 44th  wedding anniversary  tomorrow and I have been told that we are going out for a meal to celebrate. It's only the local pub but the food's good - and plentiful!

Have a good day everyone! Onwards and downwards!

I'm fasting today, but really struggling with the kids (3yo &1yo). 3yo is driving me particularly crazy! How do any other Mums cope? I need some ideas coz locking myself in bathroom only last 2 secs before I have them both at the door shouting, knocking & then fighting with lots of crying.....

Scubelle: Sorry about your day! The trouble is, whether fasting or not, that when the children are in a demanding mood you have to be on top form to get through it.

Could I suggest a cool drink for all of you and then a sit down to spend a few minutes reading a book to them? This would benefit all of you because they would have your undivided attention and you would appreciate a little calm time to share with them. You may find that this will break the cycle of craziness!

(PS I don't think that I ever managed to go to the loo with the door closed for what seemed like years when mine were young! A locked door seems to act like a magnet!)

Hope your day improves. Stay strong!

I'm fasting today too. This will bey my 5th fast and my second this week. I'm feeling frustrated because after my first fast I had a big drop, then regained some. And I've been stuck at that number now for 2 weeks. ARGH! I am also trying not to overdo on feast days and think I've been pretty reasonable. I will admit that I haven't exercised much as I've a sore knee (took a bad fall on June 21st) and it is hotter than hell here (yesterday it was 45C with humidex). So even gentle walking is pretty much out of the question.

It is frustrating to be putting the effort in food-wise and be stuck on the scale. On the bright side... I did take my measurements at the beginning of the month and plan to repeat them at the beginning of August. Hopefully I'll see some changes there that will help motivate me even if the scale isn't moving much. But it is hard to wait and to stay positive. Particularly when I have tons of weight to lose.

Thanks SlowgateResident, sadly reading to both at same time at the mo turns into a drama. 1yo likes to turn pages which annoys 3yo & they both want to sit on me! Cold drink sounds good though... Only 4 more hours till bed

Scubelle you're living my life. Mine are a little bit older and I'm sorry to say it doesnt get any better. I can so relate to the screaming, fighting and crying and story time squabbles. I have nothing to suggest other than sometimes I just walk away and leave them to it and if I really have had enough then they're sent (put) to bed for the rest of the day.

Oh Motherof2 you make me feel so much better - I nearly always feel like a crap mother on fast days!
I asked OH if he could do bedtime as I'm at the end of my 500cal tether and I planned to head off to shops for late night shopping - some retail therapy can fix this..... but just as I was leaving he handed me a list of food items - ahhhhhh not that sort of shop!!!! I'm huffing in the studio now. Kids with OH upstairs both screaming by sound of it. Where are the headphones????

Thank you littlejoy for the website, it looks good and hopefully will have some ideas for me. But to be honest it's really my fault on fast days, I'm cranky and hungry and they can feel that, also I feel a bit distant and I know that they want more attention from me. I spend the whole day trying to find activities that leave me out of it (v v v difficult with a 1yo) and I usually fail. Bedtime in about 30 mins - yippeee
