Ah no snow but Jack Frost has walked this way so we went walking beside a canal and then a river, all frozen over with fern shapes and unimpressed ducks :0)

Don't worry Candy @Candicemarie they're hardy little souls. Not sure about the hedgehogs though. Should they be hibernating now?
Love the snowmen. How cute! Image

Don't worry CandiceMarie we all do similar things
My OH is on his not working week & my routine is completely wobbly with him in the house! We did both fast yesterday which is a first for him but no noticeable weight loss for me when I weighed this morning. I am trying to really eat less today before our usual fasts on Friday & hope I can continue to lose some weight each week that will show when I weigh & record my weight on Saturday in the challenge.

Shopped in Waitrose then went to their cafe for the usual free decaff americano with cream. Remembered their 'tick you off for bad etiquette' letter yesterday so sort a gluten free and sugar free nibble. Lightly salted Kettle Chips were all I could find (80p) but a high cost in calories of 210!!
I understand they want to make money but a better selection would be most welcome

Yes I got a similar letter from Waitrose but my local one only has a coffee machine at the moment & not a cafe. There is a new large Waitrose being built in Horsham next door to a John Lewis home store that will have a cafe. So using both my Waitrose & my John Lewis cards will mean I can have two coffees, one for my OH & myself!, ha ha! but when there is the cafe I will buy something to go with them like a good girl! At the moment Marks & Sparks cheese scones are my downfall if we have coffee there because I think they are delicious with butter & make a good breakfast treat if I'm not 16:8ing then

@azureblue whats the tick you off letter? X

Email from them yesterday, backed up by notices in their cafes saying from 9th Feb you must buy something to eat to get your free tea/coffee as the proletariat have rudely just been coming in and having a free drink and it's bad etiquette to not buy something with it.
I've found more bad etiquette from the back of a queue of e.g. ten going and sitting down whilst (usually) the wife queues, thus blocking seats and tables to those who are just purchasing. At least, I was always taught that was bad manners.

Thanks AB @azureblue
Hmm if i offered something free to someone, then told them that they had bad etiquette coz they didnt give me something back(!) i would be the one with bad manners! Tut tut Waitrose!
AB, i totally agree with you re people and coats and bags claiming seats and tables is wrong when others arrived before you and are then left with a loaded tray and no vacant spaces..now that IS rude! X

I wonder why Waitrose didn't make it clear right from the start that their 'free' coffee was conditional on a food purchase - that seems very bad form to me! Surely they should have realised that many people would just have the coffee and not necessarily want an expensive food item? Their marketing department, who presumably came up with the idea, have let them down badly, I'm afraid!

I think the problem Waitrose have is people who have not got one of the my Waitrose cards helping themselves to coffee. In my local supermarket you are supposed to scan which coffee you have or show your card to customers help desk to show you are entitled but I suspect some people don't do that & just take it. I was confused the first time how to use my card to get coffee & assumed the coffee machine had a sort of swipe control system to activate the machine but not so! I went to the help desk & they swiped my card & just said help myself so no wonder the system has been abused.

Interestingly, they say the DIY drinks will continue free as before, just the cafes requiring an actual purchase to gain the free drink with it.
My OH always has bought a little something but I often don't due to fasting or nothing gluten/sugar free available :0(
Hey ho.
Life's a con and then you die ...

Golly gosh, as they say!
I towed our caravan from home to Birmingham today through the snow. What an achievement from a 65 year old lady tower! We are toastie warm on board!
And tomorrow I am at an event at Edgbaston cricket ground with erstwhile dragons' s den Theo Paphitis. So excited.
But then more excitement.... meeting some fast friends in Birmingham for lunch Saturday.
I may yet explode...
