Hello everybody I'm back after a couple of weeks. DH and I on a skiing holiday in the Dolomites last week weather and snow conditions fantastic it was wonderful. We had a day in Venice on Sunday on our way home when we got back to airport it was fog bound we managed to get to Amsterdam but missed our connection so were put up in a hotel for the night dinner bed and breakfast. Some of our travel companions were very upset as they had to get back to work for meetings etc. We, being retired, were quite happy in fact another couple of days in Amsterdam would have been lovely, I haven't been there since I was 23 and that wasn't yesterday.
Can't sleep! It's often like this after a good teaching session - mind is racing away.
So I've come down for a cup of cocoa - and I need to put some fruit to soak, for the spicy fruit naans I shall be making tomorrow or the next day.

I've put 200g sultanas and 200g dried apricots to soak - for 24 hours if possible. This creates a wonderful 'fruit juice', some of which will go in the bread, the rest I shall drink.
Once the apricots are softened, I'll chop them up into sultana-sized pieces, ready for baking.
Yesterday I racked a gallon of wine, so now I have 6 bottles in the cupboard. I make 10 gallons a year in 5-gal batches. This is down from 20 gallons a year two years ago. And tomorrow I shall rack my 5-gal of homemade stout into demi-johns. This'll last me about 6-8 weeks.
Question: Do I need one of the vegan mince pies that I have left from Christmas? Not really, I ate a large dinner after I came home at 9.30 and I'm not hungry at all. I'm enjoying the cocoa - Green and Black's finest!
What else can I add?
……….
Oh, well, I'll bring 'Sherlock' up on iPlayer - I always need to watch it twice to make sure I've missed nothing.
Hope everyone's having a good night's sleep!
Cheers, B&W

hey @Breadandwine - you would be very welcome in the Insomniacs Tent - invented by PennyForthem and patrolled nightly by our very own Insomniac Fairy Debs ... Not a lot of activity in there the last few nights, but this will probably alter
Roll on Spring, my bulbs are growing well, can't wait for warmth and garden colour once more. Spent the day with my post-op son, he's doing really well, has several clips in his back that come out in a couple of weeks. He's remarkably chipper about it all.
What to do today? Sun keeps appearing for approx two minutes then back to chilly grey. I've had two slices of avocado on GF bread, also a teaspoon of coconut butter so I'm good to go.
It's watching rawkaren jetting off to the sun and fun making me fidgety :0)

Strange! thought it was just me feeling restless and wanting to try something new and different. Maybe this mild spell of weather we're experiencing is making me think that Spring is here. (Suppose I could always do some more housework to burn off this excess energy.....nah! )

No not California for me also @PennyForthem We'll both have to settle for the virtual tour for now. But we also got on the same subject after our meal last night I do love Greece and the people too so just maybe
We're not off abroad tis year. Greece sounds very tempting, but it would cost as much to kennel our poochs as for us to go away!
We went here last year

and will probably do so again, as it's so dog friendly and close to home.
Of course, we were rather spoilt last summer, as the sun shone every day!

That looks lovely @PennyForthem I have saved the link because I do like Wales and as you said we had a lovely summer and would be nice to think we could have that again this year
That @rawkaren has a lot to answer for! thought it was just me that was totally discombobulated by her exciting new life so it's reassuring to see lots of other ruffled feathers here

Went looking yesterday at pop up camper trailers for future grey nomad expeditions. The feet are just as itchy down under.
Just have a spot more 'work' on my plate before we set our travel dreams in motion.
Back to reality, know I ought be grateful to land a new job at 63 years young but the learning curve gets more taxing as you age or my procrastination is worse. Was thinking B&W what you are up to sounds just the ticket. Oh well a little more browsing here then back to the grindstone
