I re-homed Poppy five years ago when she was about three. Her owner was pregnant and didn't feel that she could cope with a dog, two cats and a new baby (wimp!), so I ended up with Poppy and Lola, in addition to Sebastian, whom I had also re-homed when his owners emigrated. Unfortunately old age and illness have left us only with Poppy and, up until two weeks ago, our lovely black lab, Susie.

My rescue dogs are happily snoozing, Bruno is a 40kg Boxer/Mastiff cross, a gentle giant and has the smaller sofa to himself. Frank is a tiny Teckel/ Yorkie and is snuggled into me. Suki cat, a snowy Bengal is in her box, Humbug ( French heinz 57) and Lola, a brown spotted Bengal are out mousing in the fields. The ducks are well behaved and happy mooching about their pond area and the chickens are all over the place! Some in the cow field, some in the garden and some in the woods. By the time it is dusk all will be back in their barn! I used to chase chickens all over the place but now know there is no need!

I had to wait for retirement before acquiring my menagerie. Am looking into taking in two bottled fed lambs next Spring to keep the grass down. They will be pets as I am vegetarian! They can mooch about with the chickens and hopefully live happy long lives!
that sounds idyllic @bobshouse specially the lamb pets!
DD's kitten is a Bengal..not yet ready to leave his mommy...can't wait to see him xx
@stowgateresident how wonderful you've given homes to several rescue pets! X

What type of Bengal? They are amazing animals, very bright and playful. When we lived in England Suki, the snowy Bengal used to visit other gardens and take dog toys. I had a basketful of them and used to try and trace the owners.Never did.
Bob@bobshouse this cat thief will make you laugh!its only very short

Very funny video, @CandiceMarie, thank you, but why do pet owners allow their animals to be so overweight? The cat in the video should have been half the size and it really bothers me when I see animals overfed - isn't it a form of cruelty?
So sorry to hear about your Susie @StowgateResident I've got two dogs, Poppy and Minnie and they are the first dogs I've ever had. Poppy went through a serious illness 3 years ago when she was given 2-3 months to live. The stress of thinking she was going to die has put me off having any more animals. I get so attached. They're like children to me.
Candy, that kitten is just SOOO cute! Oh so sweet

I agree @stowgateresidenti think they just can't help themselves giving their pets extra treats..really theyre indulging themselves rather than thinking of the animal's wellbeing x
Thanks, @nursebean, Susie was a big part of our lives. We got her, aged eleven months, after I retired and she had ten happy years with us. Her loss is still very painful and we miss her a lot. We are going to collect her ashes from the vets this afternoon and she will be buried in the garden. Eventually I will plant a new shrub over her, as a sort of memorial, but we will never forget the joy we got from having her in our lives.
Thinking of you Stowie@stowgateresidentand yr family this avvo xox
Will be thinking of you @StowgateResident. Sending you my big hugs. xx
My girls seem to be pining at the moment. They're ok when they're out walking (when I eventually persuade them to go out!) but Minnie was sick the other night but ate the next day but then today she's not eating. Poppy eats but doesn't come running in when I call "din dins!" Does anyone think they could be missing my parents (their granny and grandad) who have just popped over to Canada to visit my sister and family. I don't know what to do with them
Yes it could be so beanie @nursebean ...they prob love granny & grandad nearly as much as they love Mommy
I used to look after two dogs when friends went on holiday..and they deffo pined and fretted..its awful coz you can't explain to them that peeps will return soon..for all they know, the loved ones will never come back
At least your girls have still got Mummy at home ..Just lots of hugs n cuddles to cheer them up x
