Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hello,

I hope I've done this right, I've never written in a forum before .... gulp!!

Today is my first day on 5:2, enjoying it so far ... well in as much as to say I'm not hungry yet!! I've read so much about 5:2 and read loads on this forum last week and it really seems to be the way forward for me, it should fit into my lifestyle well, so here I am giving it a good go :D
Good luck!

As forums go, this is very civilised and friendly. I've not seen any major fights or flounces yet and everyone is very supportive. :-)
Hi its my first day too. This forum is very calm compared to the one at Harcombe Diets, they had major clashes and people threatening to never post again! made for amusing reading i have to say! Jo
Hi Tilly-Ann and welcome. Good luck today. This is my 2nd week and I am still finding my way around and everyone is friendly. There is SO much info here and if you have any questions, there are plenty of people with answers/suggestions.
Hi - welcome Tilly-Ann & Saggyoldcat - first time is scary on a forum - this is about the only one I participate in - so many get personal and so unpleasant - not here though :) Good luck with your first fast days - hope all goes well - it's a great way of life with so many benefits - hope you enjoy it
Hi Tilly-Ann and Saggyoldcat - I only joined the forum a week or so ago but find it friendly and supportive. I have also learnt a few things too.

Welcome - let us know how you get on.
Hi all - my first day too, so far so good but I'm not looking forward to trying to avoid temptation this evening:)
Just out of interest do most people tend to do consecutive or seperate fast days?
Hi Tilly-Anne welcome, I'm pretty new myself and have found people very friendly and willing to help.
Hi everyone! Newbie here, still not sure as to what's not allowed on "feast' days. I know it sounds daft, but could someone let me know please as I understand the fasting days but worried about doing the wrong thing on feast days! I've just lost a stone and a half on a very popular diet but having trouble now shifting this last stone! Also sick of worrying about what's allowed and what's not! I'm only loosing a quarter of a pound all week and well, lets say it's
a bit tiresome! Thanks.
Hi, it's my first day too. I've read so much about it and having got on the scales this morning (gulp!) I thought I should do more than just research it - action stations!

Hi! :)
There's nothing that's 'not allowed' on Feast Days. Just stick to a normal amount of food (average 2000 cals for a woman) and you'll be fine :) You can have your cake, crisps etc whatever but just don't eat ridiculous amounts of indulgent foods every day. The joy of 5:2 is its simplicity. Eat as you normally would (assuming you weren't overeating and constantly gaining weight) on 5 days a week, cut down to 500 cals a day 2 days a week. No forbidden foods, but you soon learn to spend you fast day calories wisely ;)

We're only just over a month old so everyone is still being very polite! I hope it will continue...I don't want to have to use my moderator powers to warn or ban anyone!
I'm new on the forum today too. Started the diet just last Thursday, and today is my third fast day. Haven't sneaked on the scales yet but am feeling optimistic based on what I've read of the case studies at the back of the book.

Hope it works for you too !
Hi

I've just received my copy of 'The Fast Diet' and have read it from cover to cover intrigued about how this works. I have tried a number of other well know diets and now am heavier then ever so I'm up for giving anything a try. I've already chosen my days and yes it will start on Monday! I have to admit to being a bit nervous and dare I say it sceptical. Only time will tell and I'm willing to give anything a try being the weight I am. Hoping this works!
