Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hiya,

I just began my diet today. I had a Celebrity Slim shake for breakfast and a Celebrity Slim soup for lunch - accidentally having all my calories before 3pm. I will be doing a 5km run tonight and then obviously can't eat anything until tomorrow. Will this be ok? I'm not going to collage or anything?

I have to do my 2 days consecutively this week because I have events on every other day!.. I hope it goes well as I like the sound of this diet. Due to a really busy lifestyle, it is too hard to watch calorie intake EVERY single day - I hope this will work out for me.

If you've felt alright today and you're used to doing that sort of run I should think you'll be alright. If you've struggled with your fast and have felt lightheaded it may be best to wait until your body is used to fasting before you attempt runs like that on fast days. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids. You could always have a marmite or stock cube hot drink before you run for a bit of a boost for very few cals.

If you're doing consecutive days this week please be aware that this can be rather more trying, and please don't let it put you off totally if you struggle tomorrow as the normal non-consecutive days are a breeze :)

Well, some people say they feel more creative on their fast days!

I presume that's a predictive text typo for collapse? No, I think it's very unlikely, but you'll feel very hungry tonight! Don't worry, if you need to have a bit to eat this evening, try to keep to under 800 altogether and think of this as an introduction to fasting. Next time I'd either have two small meals or save all your calories till dinner. You have to see what works best for you!
I've been running while fasting, even sometimes on fast days. I find it hard, but more because I feel tired quickly rather than collapsing or anything dramatic like that. I've always had the "carrot" of a meal to look forward to afterwards.

From what I've read, it's really good to exercise on fast days in terms of weight loss/health. But I've not read much about performance. I feel my runs go poorly on a fast day, but I'm only two weeks into the diet, so maybe, hopefully, it will get easier.
I don't find it hard to run on fast days, but often feel a little light headed the day after a fast day. But I always run early in the mornings.
