I've crunched all the numbers and here are the results:

The total loss from the 115 people who posted their results (5 down from last month, who's been shy?) is 216 kg!!
The total reduction in waist size from the 86 people who posted results is 236 cm!

Woo hoo! That's a fantastic loss! :victory:

Among the women, the biggest loser was nadiaj who lost 7.1kg and 10 cm! :star:
For the men, the biggest loser was boboff (a second appearance as the biggest loser :like: ) who lost 4.1 kg and 5.08 cm! :star:
Congrats both.

The average loss overall was 2.15 kg (4.73 lb) or 0.53kg/week (1.16 lb); the median loss was 1.80 kg (n=115)
For women the average loss was 1.87 kg (4.0 lb) or 0.46kg/week (1.0 lb); the median loss was 1.70 kg (n=106)
The average loss for men was 2.43 kg (5.35 lb) or 0.61 kg/week (1.34lb); the median loss was 2.72 kg (n=9)

So the average weight loss was, once again, just as expected 1 lb per week for women and a little more for men.
:fat:

If you haven't filled in the questionnaire, can you do so as soon as possible as we are closing it very shortly. Thanks!

The excel spreadsheet can be found here.

Next weigh in will be June 1st...see you there!
That was really quick Caroline- you are amazing and a :star:
thanks for all the effort you put into collecting and number crunching
:)
Well done everyone!
Thank you, Caroline. You really are brilliant doing all that number crunching. :)
HI Caroline

Just a question.... we have posted ourchange over the last month - but I'd like to know if things change for those who have been on 5:2 for a while compared to those just starting out.... is there a drpo off or stabilisation in the rate of weight loss - do new 5:2'ers lose a bit more, skewing the numbers?

I'm interested cos I have found that as I lost some weight, I've had to pay more attention to TDEE, what I eat and exercise to keep losing - if I didn't I'd probably be posting about having gained weight and seeking advice/help....

I've looked at the progress tracker and it does seem to imply that after the initial loss things do slow down...
Is n = 107 correct for the overall average ?
Should it be 107 + 13 = 120
Good work people!!!
Thanks for your hard work Caroline.

Really pleased to find that I made the top 5 for women! Hope to keep it up next month...
Thank you Caroline and congrats to Nadiaj and Boboff (twice as biggest loser, way to go Boboff  )

Ah ha! you caught me out! I copied and pasted last month's post and then updated the figures but forgot to update the number of respondents!! I've corrected it now
Brilliant work! That's a lot of weight lost :)
Great point, eckat. It seems obvious that our TDEE has to go down ase lose weight. We need to adjust.
The rate at which we lose and how it might slow down over time is of particular interest to me at the moment. I started off losing a pound a week, then speeded up - losing up to 3 pounds a week in some weeks in my 2nd and 3rd month, now I'm in my 15th week I'm back to a pound a week. Obviously I'm not complaining! But I am convinced that after a few weeks the body resets the appetite, resulting in faster weight loss as we're eating less on non fast days.

I've noticed a couple of other forum members noting a slow down after 3-4 months though. Are we becoming complacent on non fast days? Is reduced tdee to blame? Or is it metabolism? I'll be keeping a close eye on next month's weigh in results as it should include a lot of us who started just after Christmas.

Must say Boboff is an inspiration to all!!
I have just experienced a slow down after 6 months. I've tracked my brains as to why. I've done nothing different apart from trying to eat later in the day on non-fast days. My calorie tracking shows I'm eating less on non-fast days, which I need to as my weight drops. So, I'm going to try to replicate exactly what I was doing when I started, to see if it makes any difference. I winner if putting off eating until later after a fast is just enough to affect my thyroid.
Theres two aspects to TDEE dropping, aren't there. Firstly you need to adjust your feed days to match new TDEE, but secondly, your deficit from 5:2 will drop, as TDEE drops - anything under 2250 per day TDEE will result in less than 3,500 deficit per week, so technically weight loss would drop to under 1lb a week.
