No, the analyses I quoted are not relevant to the antiinflammatory issue as they were looking at cardiovascular outcomes. This doesn't affect the rationale for using the combination for arthritis. Also, the omega 3 analysis did show a benefit just not as big as hoped.

Thanks guys for that. That second paper is strange Phil, I think the study must have been funded by the manufacturers of the supplements!

I started taking mega doses of B12 (methyl Cobalamine) about a year ago as my then doctor refused to give me any B12 shots even though I was only 15 points above the bottom of the normal. Normal for B12 was/is 250 to 900. I was at 265 and felt awful, depressed, dragging tired all the time, just existing, not enjoying life. My latest blood tests showed I was now at 675 and my mood and life itself shows the improvement.

Getting further off-topic, but a baby aspirin will likely do as well. Our Siberian husky would go overnight from slow moving-elderly to a puppy for several days. Just pop it into their mouth, grab their snout and blow air on it. They'll swallow it without realizing it.

Thanks for all these studies and their findings everyone. Excellent reading.
Preety recent studies in the UK amounst teenage girls found that 70% of them were low in Iodine. When the study went further they found that most of the farmland in the UK is deficient in Iodine and great swathes of America are deficient too.
It seems that the soil still needs the seaweed that farmers would laboriously rake from the seaside and cart home (remembering that there is no where in the UK realistically more than 80 miles from the seaside).
I take Lugols Iodine regularly in drop form as there is a lot of Thyroide problems in my family, I want to give my thyroid as much food as it needs.
I think Carorees was saying that *healthy* people, who aren't actually deficient in anything, don't benefit from the vitamins. By all means, if you're deficient in a vitamin, that's a different story!
I changed to a vegan diet a few months ago and was concerned about B12, I thought it best to take something balanced rather than just the B12 as I don't know enough about which vitamins or minerals need to be taken together for the greatest effect.

I started taking a supplement from the Vegan Society, it provides vitamin D, B6, B12 iodine, B2, folic acid and selenium. I might not need all of these but it sets my mind at rest knowing that I won't be lacking something vital to my health.
