Weight Maintenance

39 posts Page 2 of 3
Thanks Otter and Wmr. I have found that doing 14/10 5 days a week is enough for me to keep the weight off. If I find it creeping up I'll do the 8 hr window and so far that seems to be working. I think it helps that we have been adopted by an active dog - so I am getting at least 10,000 steps a day as well!

Happy Spring to those in the northern hemi, and Happy Fall to those down south!

Edit to say, I have cut carbs and don't eat as much early in the day. My main meal is supper.
Hello everyone I have decided to join the maintaining tents, because at 56k I think I have reached where my body wants to be. I am still trying to get below that weight to 54k if I can to allow a little slack......so here I am!
Wish me luck in here.
Welcome and congratulations @Auriga !

Do let us know how you're going. I know from my past that maintenance is my biggest hurdle, but so far so good

Wishing you all the best :clover:
I think after ADF/16:8 until race day (April 19) I will go into maintenance whatever my weight is. I feel myself getting a bit of fasting fatigue, and I'm worried I'll do more damage than good if I keep it up at that pace. 16:8 cut out so many unnecessary calories for me, I really like the idea of just doing that everyday whilst being mindful and eating healthily. I'll keep an eye on my weight, of course, and throw in the occasional fast if necessary.
Thank you @Otter for the welcome. :victory:

Welcome to all of you fellow visitors of the top, especially those that have been climbing for such a long time!

Yes I am still at the summit :victory: , but have been too busy with work to enjoy the view. However, the end of term is approaching, so I will be at the terrace somewhat more often. Additional reason for the long silence: seems I am still able to maintain without fasting. The last fast was on the 7th, .... of January  Every now and then the scales show a slight increase in numbers, only to go down again spontaneously the next days. Well, you don't hear me complaining, but it doesn't really make for a juicy maintenance story. However, it seems like I will be able to try another fast in the near future, so I will keep you informed.
welcome @Auriga, some people find maintaining easy, I hope you are one of those, some find it difficult, I find I still need my two fast days and 3 16/8 days a week. I settled on 9st 5lb 59 5kg as my goal weight. As you can see my TDEE is not to bad, but I do wonder if I am trying to keep my weight too low for me, I am going to give it thought through the summer and then evaluate. I do however feel it is my sweet tooth that is causing the problem as I eat to much rubbish over the weekends. I have managed to stay around(within 2lb) of my target weight since July even over Festive season and 3 holidays. So all is not bad.
sorry re above BMI not TDEE.
A little carb loading doesn't seem to have put on weight. Race out the way now, I don't think I'll be fasting this week but back to at least 6:1 the week after.
I am amazed at the BMI of all of you maintaners. I have reached my goals( which I kept bringing it down) three times since last May when I started 5:2. My lates goal seems to be very illusive. I reach it sometimes after fast days and then it goes away by 500g to One Kilogram. So I don't know if I could call this maintenance. I have started to feel more hungry on fast days and a bit binging on feed days. My problem is that I am not out of home as much as I used to be. I know I should not binge and lots of other don'ts but I also want to live and have a drink or deserts at times. I have given up thinking of reaching BMI of 23 let alone 22 or less that many of you guys have.
oh, I totally know what you mean, Pariah. I've either not reached my goal weight or I'm maintaining at 1-1.5kg above it at the moment. It's a little frustrating, but if I put it in the perspective of my total weight loss, it's still pretty amazing.
I've not quite reached my final goal weight yet ( I would like to shed another 2k) so I am cutting back on carbs a bit more, but it's Easter soon and the odd treat beckons! I never thought I'd get to the weight I am now but I do not wish to put any significant weight back on. I fully realise that I am here in this tent forever having to be mindful of refined carbs, because that's what I think got me overweight in the first place. Good luck fellow maintainers. :clover:
@PariahYou should go with whatever BMI suits you. When I started the 5:2 I was a BMI of 20.9 and I wanted to get down to around 19, which I did and am now. I'm tall but narrow framed so prefer to be at the low end of the BMI scale, otherwise I look too chunky. 5 years ago I had a BMI of 23 (which I'd been for a long time, then I lost a stone to get to around 21, and now I've been 19 for over a year. It is possible to get to a low BMI if you really want to, but you have to eat a lot less to maintain it, that is the downside. Fortunately I do a lot of sport so manage to eat more as I burn off a lot of calories.
Hi @Auriga good to see you here. Oh I hear what you are all saying. Refined carbs have been my downfall too. Like you @Nessie I am still doing 5:2, 16:8 just to maintain. Oh how I love my spuds :frown: However I have seen 8st 12 (2lb under target) quite a few times now over the past few weeks so it's all good. I am out of routine this week so am doing 16:8 every day, no 5:2. I doubt it will make a difference to my weight but seeing as it's Easter next weekend and I can see many treats in the cards it doesn't really matter. I will get back to 5:2 after Easter
Fasting day is coming to an end. Feels like 'those old fasting days': just a little hungry, but no problem at all. Scales indicate a 1 kg loss compared to yesterday. Most of it will be water and weight of food. Waiting for what happens the next days to indicate my official weight for today.
