Good luck with 16:8 Amber, you are steaming ahead of me now so I will be watching you with eagle eyes!! Great isn't it? :like:

@gillymary I think we are twins
Yeah @Wendy Darling we have been doing same :) :) same. I am trying liquid fasting my 5:2 as it is cold here and my fasting TDEE is 400something so the liquid fasting seems easier with soups and teas and coffee and usually have 50 cals to spare. No headaches so far am 3 of those LFs down and the weight is shifting. I say that with fingers crossed of course
Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times, but what calorie intake do you stick to when doing 16:8 to lose weight? Your TDEE? 7 days a week? I'm sick of 5:2 so wanna give this a go :)
I would say stick to your TDEE when 16:8ing. I am still doing a mixture of 5:2 & today I am 16:8ing because I don't feel like eating breakfast & I felt a bit off balance & unwell yesterday afternoon. I am fine now but giving my body a break & just having a coffee.
At weekends it's a bit more wey hey with wine
Might be best to read the thread about it all on the home page down in the right corner, there is a fantastic thread all about it. Firstly it is a time restriction not a calorie restriction. BUT if you start your first meal at say 1 pm and say 7 hours later close the kitchen up and no more snacking you are effectively fasting every day for 16 or so hours. That is how you get your fat burning. I have found it slow but I don't go crazy and eat too much but you do have to eat your TDEE. It is a freedom, hope it works for you.

Oh I do 5:2 + 3 days x 16:8 each week and have a day where I eat what ever I like when ever I like. Like Isis I go with the flow that is another part of the flexibility for example last week I did Mon to Fri 16:8 and my 5:2 were Sunday and not again until the following Saturday. I lost weight.
Very happily getting back to a 16:8 day today after taking a day off yesterday. I was out of my normal routine as I took the day off work to play golf in the afternoon. I was up early, as usual, and decided to have breakfast. Before I knew it, I was looking for something else to nibble. By the time I left for the golf course, I felt awful and my game showed it! :frown:

Back on track today and looking forward to breaking my fast at 11AM!

Have a good day everyone!
Hi Again Amber hope it works for you  BUT
Can you explain to an old thick woman ( I've tried to find the link )
This 16:8 do you do this every day of the week ? Because I want to save the information for later as 4:3 is definitely working for me, but do like to mix it up a little now and again. Thanks again :clover: Sue

Oopps just reread gillymary's answer   Sue
Hi Sue, I have bumped the thread '5:2+8 hour diet+16/8' and is is now showing on active topics, good luck

Wow, so many replies. Have been keeping to 16:8 this week and weight dropped a little then has stayed the same for 3 days. But also started a new job yesterday so nerves have been working overtime :) x
Good luck with your new job, so many new learning curves for you, do take care of yourself. :0)
Hi amber I read your post when you first posted it and thought "that'll be me in a couple of weeks", turns out that's me now.

Like you I hit my target then dropped it by 7 lbs, and although my weight is heading towards the new target I don't feel as committed to 2 full fast days any more. So 16:8 and 6:1 for the next few weeks.

What was the 16:8 Hugh Jackman site you referred to? I'm pretty sure if Wolverine had shown up in any of Ballerina's posts I would have noticed

Hi Everyone

I downloaded a free kindle book from Amazon at the begining of this week. Its the best book I have read on fasting and the different combinations or variations. Its called "The IF Diet the breakthrough backed by Science" by Robert Skinner. I found it an easy read and it explained about 16/8, 5:2, etc. and the science of it in a easy to understand method, you felt like he was talking to you personally.
I am doing 5:2, 16/8, and weekend Wey Hey days.

Chris,
Thank you so much for posting that I was rummaging round on Amazon earlier and completely missed that one, and best of all FREE :like:
