Weight Maintenance

Got to goal weight about a month ago then reset my target to drop another 7lbs. Have lost some then gained then lost etc so now finding that my heart isn't really into the fasting bit. Am ok through the day but have got kids off school who are always eating so have been picking at food in the evening.

So, have reset goal to original goal weight. Now I'm going to do 16:8 opening my window around 11am. I am hoping that relaxing a bit will encourage weight to stay the same and, if in a few weeks I have started gaining, I will introduce 5:2 again. Should be easier to do as kids won't be at home.

I think this sounds like a plan :) wish me luck xx
Good Luck! :clover:
Good Luck Amberchanted sounds like a very good plan to me, school holidays nearly over and a little well earned. '' me time. '' for you.

Well done on reaching your goal and maintaining it - I do 16:8 a few days a week and when I feel like it keep to within the 500 calorie limit - just depends on what I have eaten the previous day and my energy levels. It can't be easy with the children off school - and you can go back to 5:2 anytime if you do regain any weight.
Good luck from me too! I am taking the same approach for the school holidays! I have found I am losing weight well on 16:8 as long as I keep the refined carbs down. Like Navwoman, I think occasional proper fasts would be needed if I were to use it as a long term strategy...maybe on a 6:1 basis. It is fantastic how so many options for weight control open up once one embraces the idea of fasting!
hiya- I did exactly this a month of so ago. I swapped to 16:8 for about 3 weeks and then resumed 5:2 (husband wanted to get back on that after a break). I had plateaued in my weight loss and tired of fasting. So the most amazing thing happened after about 3 fasts- I lost 1kg! Thrilled to pieces!! I have decided to alternate between the two styles over periods of months- I get sick of both systems and it seems that perhaps a change is a good thing?
Hi toad. Your reply is very encouraging :) just what I needed to hear. And thank you to all for my other replies. I'd never heard of 16:8 til I joined the site but read that Hugh jackman? Wolverine does 16:8 as well :) xx
I'm going to copy Carorees this week, as my husband is in Scotland and fasting alone is not as much fun. So I'll eat from noon to 8pm and then the kitchen is closed :-)

Good luck, Amberenchanted!
That sounds like a great plan, Amberenchanted. Good luck!
Well all I can say is if it works for Hugh Jackman- sigh- I'll have what he's having!
I really do have to get hubby on to fasting!
hi gigi55- about getting your hubby onto fasting- mine has done it abit intermittently (as has my brother in law) and both of them love it. My hubby stopped due to a neck problem and just felt he couldn't cope with fasting at the same time. He is back on board now and both of these men have shed middle age saddles very quickly. They both say it makes them feel younger and more energetic. I think the men lose their weight abit easier then women so pass that on if it helps! :like:
I find 16:8 great. I am now a year on! can't believe it.......16:8 is definitely the way to go for me. I feel good on it and my weight has stabilized so has my appetite. I find if I exercise in the morning (30 day shred) I don't want to eat until about 10.30am. I still eat very well as I have always resisted cutting calories mainly because I see my friends who have been dieting for years eating very little compared to what I can eat (I do however eat very healthily) For me I seem to keep the weight off as long as I feel empty in the morning before I eat and not start the day eating when my stomach feels full (easily done after eating out..)
I am sticking at 61/62kg and am happy with that for now.
wishing everyone best of luck
I have been doing 16:8 ( along with 5:2) for ages now as I was looking for parameters around my non fast days. It's just a time restriction, I don't have time to binge either on my 16:8 days and I have not gained but have managed to navigate a very slow weight loss period post a holiday and am now on the downward trend again. I have one day a week where I just go for what ever takes my fancy which seems to fulfil my 'I can't be fussed about any of this' urges

A very happy 16:8 fan here. I say go for it amberenchanted try it and see and best of luck
I'm really enjoying 16:8 at the moment, especially as my weight loss has picked up! After my success in actually losing weight during my holiday, in the week since getting back I've lost 1.5 kg doing 16:8!!! Not sure this can continue, but it will be so easy to slip in some proper fast days again whenever I feel like it.

I'm a big fan of Hugh Jackman here, so also very happy to follow his lead ;-)
Hi Carorees,

Great to hear how well 16/8 is going for you. I continued to lose weight for a while then stabilised at 7 lbs under my target weight which is where I have stayed and where I am VERY happy to remain. I have had the odd fast day since but they have not been deliberate, I was just not that hungry and very busy so food was not my priority. This is such a lovely way to live but if I ever, for whatever reason, had to lose weight again then 5:2 would be back on the menu tout suite!!! I love the freedom from calorie counting with 16/8 but I know skipping breakfast is not for everyone but if it suits you, then brilliant. Good luck,

Ballerina x
