Breakfast after fast day
26 Feb 2013, 20:41
What do we like to start our feed day with? I've been having two slices of whole meal toast with a cheese triangle shared between them but I'm going off bread so thought I might try 2 eggs scrambled tomorrow instead. Any suggestions?

The morning after a fast day, I try to have whatever I fancy. Honestly, it's often a croissant. Occasionally it's even two, or it's a chocolate or almond croissant. Often I eat it with plain yoghurt to make it a bit more satisfying.

On a normal day, I like to have a small pot of plain yoghurt and some toast, or I might make up a hash with onion, green pepper, a bit of shredded potato and lots of hot paprika, and serve and egg over easy with that. Or I might have yoghurt and oatmeal.

Home made granola with home made yoghurt if the feed day is a week day, at weekends (i.e fasting on a Friday) I usually wait until DS gets up at around 10.30 and have Swedish waffles with lemon curd or maple syrup!!

I usually have porridge - but after a fast-day Asda trip (never a good idea!) it appears that I have multigrain bagel, cream cheese and smoked salmon tomorrow. :D

Normally don't have anything for breakfast and the day after a fast day is no different. I might have a cereal bar about 10 or 11 o'clock if I get peckish, but otherwise I'll wait until lunchtime.

I like to have porridge on a feed day. I take it to work with me in a sandwich box, pour boiling water on it and then eat yum, yum.

It's always one of the best meals for me and I really look forward to it. I wait until I have time to sit and enjoy it then I choose what I fancy. Might be muesli with prunes or raspberries, might be porridge, might be poached egg on wholemeal toast, might be toast and marmalade....mmmmm lots of great choices.

But whatever I choose - I can rarely eat more than half of what I used to eat (only managed half my bagel in the end - the cat was chuffed to bits with the smoked salmon with cream cheese on it though, and he's also a fan of left over porridge. No wastage in this house!)

Toasted baguette with marmite and marmalade, as every day (except when fasting). With real butter...I don't do low fat anything (except skimmed milk because I prefer if) and fortunately don't have to with 5:2 :D
