Hi Everyone

I have not been on the 5:2 diet for a few weeks but feel the need to be back on the plan today. I went to India for a 3 week holiday and surprisingly, I didn't put on any weight at all. The problem has been since I came home (3 weeks ago.) when we arrived home, it was so cold and wintery, that to be honest, we have been comfort eating. not good I know, but I really needed all the carbs and stodge I could get. I have eaten more McDonalds/KFC in the last 3 weeks than what I have eaten in the last year!! I am pretty mad at myself, but have decided to take a more relaxed approach as in hiding the scales and not even looking at them for a month. I know I have put on at least 4 lb, but if the scales say I weigh less than what I did before my holiday in 1 months time, I will be pleased.

Any advice would really be appreciated.

Great to be back even with a few extra lbs. :)
Welcome back! Did you have a good holiday? I'm not surprised that coming back to wintery weather after being in India dampened your enthusiasm somewhat!

It's great, isn't it, that we have this tool...fasting...that we can use to control our weight after episodes of over eating? I'm sure you'll be back on track in no time! My tip is to cut down on the carbs a bit on feed days as well as fast days.

Good luck!
Welcome home (well 3 weeks ago!!) Your trip must have been amazing! Hopefully this UK weather will eventually decide to warm up and we'll all find it easier to avoid the comfort foods!

Good luck with your restart :)
That's what I love about this woe. You can have time of for holidays and get back on to it easily

I if was going on to a traditional diet after a holiday I'd be really fed up!
Hope you had a great time x
Welcome back and hope you had a fab time, travelling is always good for expanding the mind and giving us great new experiences of the world.

Back to your question and my helpful advice would be to work out what 'need' you were satisfying by all the trips to KFC etc - unless you work this out, and really work it out way down deep, and then get rid of the need in a way that it no longer serves your life purpose then it will remain as part of your values set and pop up to help sabotage anything else you try and do.

Good luck :clover:
Ah, the back from holiday blues - eating to cheer yourself up after coming back down to earth (well, back to Blighty!) and all the more so because of the cold weather. I know it well! Especially difficult to get back into cooking when back from holiday if you've been used to eating out/easy food.

It's great you didn't gain weight while away - that's a positive to take from all this!

Meanwhile, if the eating was in some way to cheer yourself up after getting back to this awful weather, perhaps you need to have a think and realise that what will cheer you up more is losing a bit of weight and being ready for when summer does get here!

I do find it less easy fasting in this horrible weather, summer was so much nicer for it... but to look & feel our best for summer, we must persevere through this weather.

Don't give up your treats and takeaways completely, I don't think many of us have done that. Ease yourself back in with your two 500cal days and the feed days will adjust naturally from that :)
Thanks Moogie

I know what you mean about trying to get back in to cooking etc

I knew when I went to bed last night that today was the day as we had been talking at the weekend of a week away for my 50th in July so I want to feel good for that, also I am hoping to go to Egypt for a week in June with my best friend.

I am now going through my 'Hairy Dietier' cook book that arrived 2 days before I went away to get some good ideas for both feast and fast days.

Feeling really positive as well as bloody starving
