So basically if we all get together, journey by car or bike, wearing our cozzies or size 8 jeans ( I'll give the legging t shirt combo a miss - sorry emilymeg) shake our skinny behinds at cousins, sisters and aunts, whilst holding our heads up high, brimming with confidence and star jump into the sunset......... I'd be there for that one :)

I love that idea. As I was reading it, I saw the image of it in my head and I couldn't help but laugh !

I am seriously in it for the hoped for health benefits. My mom has just been diagnosed with breast cancer for the third time in 22 years - this time no specified location. It scares the h*** out of me! Her mother and a sister have already died of it. Plus there's Alzheimers' and type 2 diabetes in the family. I am now a year older than Mom when she was first diagnosed.

I wish the best of health to all of us as we go forward -- and downward!

If I think about it, basically I am in this because I want the best of both worlds - to be slim and to eat lots of food. Up until now that's been my two options - slim & miserable or enjoy food & be bigger. If not eating much a couple of times a week is a way to achieve this, and also to bring a lot of other benefits then I'm in!

OK izzy I confess - my dream would be size 12 - but my goal has to be size 14. Having said that however, the cheap size 16 jeans I bought a couple of months ago I can now get on and off without unzipping them - so maybe 12 might be attainable. Very jealous of TMLs size 8 - I think we need some photographic evidence - she must have a wonderful figure

Oh greenmonster, I'm in total agreement....I just love puddings and cakes and in the past I've had to pass on them.....no more....ok ....in moderation now!!

Aaawwwwww thanks so much!
I hope to wear it next weekend and I will post a photo! But let's face it, what people like you and Izzy and all of the larger members are doing is much harder than what I had to do! I only had to shrink 2 sizes.

I have several reasons for being on 5 2. The goal is to lose weight and look good in clothes. But my secret goal is to reduce the fat in my system. I have lots of lipomas under my skin, blood clot issues and my Mom died of massive heart attack at 60. So secretly it is all about health. I favor all the womwn on the maternal side of family and every female had a huge abdomen with skinny shoulders and legs. I am determined to look proportionate and lower my cardiac risk.

I also want to be able to continue to eat lovely food but to stay at a healthy BMI. Today (for some reason) 5 people commented on lost weight (think it's to do with clothes I was wearing) and that feels really good but also made me think I don't want to put it all back on again, as it would be really boring to have to start this all over again and would probably please the 5:2 sceptics.

To wear swimsuit or bikini on holiday without feeling ashamed of my size and body... and to do shopping in normal sizes - like 12/14  ...Everytime I have been going with friends for shopping and looked at all the nice clothes my thought have been for so many times: " If only I could fit"

To no longer be the fat one hiding in the corner afraid of joining in incase I draw attention to myself & once I've lost weight keep it off, that would be marvellous. Hate to think how many stones I've put on & taken off over the years!

Manderley wrote: My secret goal ? The one that I don't dare to even think loud ? I have a sister I didn't see for years (long and very complicated story) and I always was the chubby one. She always found a kind of power over me which is one of the things that made me want to cut all the ties with her.

I want, one day, to go and knock at her door and give her the schock of her life when she will see she is not the skinny one anymore, don't say anything, and just go away....

I know I know, it's kind of childish... :-P

Thank you for posting that! My secret goal is similar. I have a former friend, (also a long and complicated story) with many mutual friends in common. She struggles with her weight and last I heard had plans for some sort of stomach stapling surgery. I will *not* be the fat person at the party when she starts her typical bragging. :P

This is why if I'm ever asked in her company how I've lost weight I plan on smiling sweetly and breezily saying "Oh I just stopped eating so much". I want to make it sound as easy as possible while keeping it secret how easily I really did do it.

And if that seems too mean, my true friends will get the real scoop on 5:2 from me and I'll encourage them thru it if they want to do it.

I used to be size 12 but giving up smoking, having my child, menopause, health issues, sedentary job and busy life meant food fuelled my juggling everything. I was holding off size 18 pants but had made it into size 18 tops.

Something had to give as I have been unhappy about my weight. My sisters are all very slim so genetically I ought to be slimmer. It will be just nice for me to be happier with my body size.
That said Manderley I get how hurtful people can be, but it is who you are inside that counts
