Just bumping this, as there may be people who haven't seen this in the last couple of months since the last post. And they are on tv at the moment ... remember last summer how many of us were doing the 'Hairy Dieters' recipes, so maybe there will be interest this summer too.

I am still using some of the recipes for fast days but I have to adapt most of them due to being vegetarian. I also use River Cottage veg a lot.
How nice to see this topic again! I haven't made anything Hairy for ages...maybe I should try something...hmmm

*cough, cough* and no one thought to tell me that they have a very simple battenburg recipe...

Cor, the hairy tent flaps haven't been opened for a long time. I saw the new hairy dieters book in Tescos tonight, book number three or the 'green one' as we will come to know it. I biught it on kindle tonight but haven't looked at it yet. I will report back. Anyone else got it? What do we think?
@Wendy Darling, I bought the new green book when it came out but have only just recently got around to having a look at it and made Creamy Chicken and Tarragon Pots with Rosemary Potato Wedges for tea on Thursday. OMG...we were all in heaven, the only noise that could be heard when we were eating was the occasional mmmm from oldest daughter (she's the foodie). I've made a lot of recipes from the first two books and it always amazes me that what I cook turns out just like the photos in the books!

So? Are there any reviews of the new Hairy book? What sort of recipes do they have this time? I must say I'm very impressed with them both because they have managed to maintain their weight loss havent they. Something thats not always that easy.
My first spot is Turkey chilli with cauliflower rice.
It's the bean hello there lovely @nursebean

I got the green one some weeks ago (along with a massive haul of novels from Amazon) and I must say I'm a wee bit disappointed. I hade expected more oumpf, like the second got better than the first, but I found it a bit boring. Maybe cause I'm not British and if my memory serves me right (haven't looked at it for a while) there was quite a few recipes that I thought was aimed at a British audience. Might be wrong, have happened before
But I think that the reason I haven't gained that much weight since surgery is that I cook most weekday meals from the Hairy recipes

So I did two of recipes from the Green Book; yesterday Chrimy Chicken & Tarragons pots with rosemary potaoe wedges; really good if you spice up the checken stew. I don't have ramekins so I used a pied dish. Even though I had a checken breast more that the recipe - all went down.
Today I made the Transylvanian meatballs and it was gooood. make sure you salt the ground meat enough salt and the recipe for the sauce say - use en entire bulb of garlic - so do it. I can surely say this, Count Dracule would have a problem with this dish

Thanks for the review Wolfie.
Just been catching up on this thread - you have inspired me - we have the white book but it has been sitting on the shelf unused........
Didn't make the moussaka, but son opted for the Caribbean Chicken Curry from the last book and it was goooood. The only thing I changed was not to use the Scotish Bonnet chilies since I didn't have one and used a red (long) pepper and some dried Chipotl. He, it turned h-o-t. Plus I added a bit of raw suger as well. The whole dish went down, not even a bit of butternut squash left
Don't look like the pic in the cookbook though

That looks delish thats for sure! Did it have coconut in it? I found with the last couple of Hairy dishes I cooked up that they lacked flavour. Was this pretty spicy then?
I really must cook another Hairy meal some time. Hmmm what shall I create?
