There's definitely something funny happening in my head, as I know full well that I don't feel hungry, because of course I now know exactly how that feels due to the fasting, yet even when I feel full, I seem to feel the need to snack some more. It's quite curious.

Yup - I've noticed that too. I never used to snack... but now on feed days, I'll suddenly fancy a handful of nuts (and then another one or two) or a slice of cake etc. Most odd...
Constant constipation since beginning 5:2 last August. Despite loads of fruit and veg (i don't eat meat) and water.
And freezing cold most of the time, worse on non-feast days.

Yes this has been a problem for me too. I am not really uncomfortable but I just don't 'go' that often. I am a bit concerned this could cause long term ill effects with bowel disease.

I know I don't eat enough fruit and veg so am making a decision to be better with this this week and upping my water.
Had a fleeting episode of blurred peripheral vision. It happened at the beginning of a nightshift, so lack of sleep may have been a factor also ( tho I have worked nights for 19 years and never ever had blurred vision before.
5th fast day yesterday and easiest so far. I have three issues at the moment though. Feeling cold which seems to be the norm, nightmares ( or screaming abdabs ) as I do scream , on fast night and next night and peeing up to 8 times a night. I must admit the peeing is getting me down ,but I will preservere. My husband who is following 5,2 with me is fine apart from cold.
Just to say that I've been 5:2 fasting since August and always felt cold on fast days. about a month ago this stopped and I don't feel any different now compared to feed days. so maybe there is hope further down the line on this for those who are suffering from the cold (and it's very cold at the moment with a fair amount of snow!)
I only have one negative and its the lack of weight loss! I'm actually really enjoying the diet - no problem at all with the fasting days, more energy, kept up with exercise etc. However, I started the plan on the 4th of Feb @ 66.6 kilos and today, over six weeks later, I'm @ 66!
Thats not much of a loss at all. I'm not hugely overweight - but have been advised that under 60 kilos would be a healthier weight for me (I'm generally happiest at around 62 - which is not super thin but I'm good with that)
Any ideas what could be going wrong? I'm getting seriously disheartened! Especially as I've not seen or heard of anyone else whose NOT losing on this plan...
Thanks

Hi fionarae

It's usually the feed days that are the problem...unfortunately you need to tot up your calories on feed days for a few days to see if you are going over your allowance. To get a rough idea of how many cals you should have on feed days you need to work out your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). This seems to be a good one: http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/
Once you've done that, please post your findings and we'll see if we can come up with some ideas!
Oh and please measure your waist as that might have reduced despite the scales not changing.

Last night, my first fast day of this week, I woke in the night and my legs, arms and in fact entire body ached/was restless and it severely affected my sleep. (I also began hallucinating, but that's another story!) It is now 5pm following that night and my arms and legs are still really painful. I drink lots of water on fast days, don't overcompensate on non days and am healthy other than migraines (funnily enough no headache problems these past few weeks!). My BMI is around 21.5 so I'm not needing to lose much more, but want to continue to support my husband, who is making terrific progress, and for other health reasons. But I can't take another night like last night. Any suggestions?

I suffer from severe night cramps (and have had for years) my doc recommended magnesium supplements and while it has not completely removed the problem it is much better and less frequent :)
Starting my 4th week of 5:2. My only negative experience is indigestion, which was so bad in week 2 that I almost stopped the program. But, after not experiencing it the day before my 5th fast I went ahead and fasted. Indigestion has come back now and again, but is calmed with Tums (a good use for the many years old bottle in my medicine cabinet) and a new found ritual (for my non-fasting husband and daughter, too) of a nightly cup of fresh ginger "tea": boil ginger root slivers and add lime juice and honey. The indigestion has largely subsided.
I also get cold at night.
I've lost 2 lbs. each week for 6 lbs in 3 weeks, relatively painlessly.
Colder but coming out the wrong side of the menopause may also contribute.
Constipation - I have always had problems with that, often caused by dairy food. Even avoiding dairy stuff it was getting worse and even more so 5:2 until I got the right balance of fasting food - mainly veg/beans/pulses,
Exercise/energy levels, no change or better.
Gave blood thenday adtrr a semi-fast day (about 800 cals). Shakier than usual for longer afterwards even though I had lunch first. Won't fast for at least 48 hours before or after next time.
Bad breath, been a problem but I keep a spray handy and clean and floss regularly.

Fiona, I've replied to your email but I guess the reason I don't recall what you'd been asking is because I hadn't seen or replied to your post. I think you got me and Caroline muddled up when you emailed :)
Seeing your post and now knowing your weight and what you'd like to lose it seems to me to be a simple case of you already being a healthy weight. If your bmi I'd already healthy you'll likely lose weight slower, plus you don't have much to lose. Those of use who have tens of kilos to shift will usually lose more per week.
Just found this site yesterday - I've been on the 5/2 since Feb 4th & lost 7 pounds in 7 weeks. Delighted with this but I had the runs for the first 6 weeks - that's never normally a problem for me, & certainly not one that goes on for weeks. The last week it seemed to be settling down - but following my 15th fast day, I spent all last night with painful indigestion. Anyone had similar experience? Anyone got any hints or tips?
Hi warrior princess and welcome!

I did have a bit of that on the day after fasting for the first few weeks but it has settled down now. I guess it is worth looking at what you are eating on feast days. I think that giving the gut a bit of a rest during the fast can reveal some hidden food intolerances. Might be worth trying to reduce gluten or dairy if you tend to eat a lot, especially on the first feed day.
Hi. 6th fasting day yesterday and still having real problems with excessive peeing late afternoon and all night. I seem to be woken at least every hour desperate for the loo. Any ideas would be appreciated.
