I'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling well Julieathome. As for left over Christmas treats I just threw out the left over rumballs and melting moments. I was the only one eating them and I certainly don't need to eat them. Not sure my will power extends to throwing out the chocolates though.
Having a complete lack of motivation this afternoon. So just sitting in front of the telly watching complete rubbish.

I keep buying garbage because I didn't get enough sweets at Xmas and I feel cheated. Now I feel sick. That'll teach me.

I should be working but I think I'll go for a run instead.

Morning/afternoon/evening all. @julieathome. Hope you are feeling better. Well I shall be glad to go home today. One week away. A lovely time but full of water retention and ready for a good old fast. Travel days always good for fasting :like:

A winter break sounds lovely rawkaren, our friends always go overseas in November as they reckon it breaks the gloom up a bit! I think Jan is probably more sensible. Never been to Palma though, only Andalusia and would love to go back.

Oooo yes. Andalusia. Have you been to Granada? Amazing place. As usual, I love the food, especially the free tapas you get in bars with a drink  you don't need to eat out, just stick to bar hopping :like:

Yes, love the area! we stayed in an old run down olive mill near Grazalema, no running water or power but absolutely glorious. Love Spanish food, and are lucky to have several really good Spanish restaurants in Melbourne which we freuqent whenever we are there. Loved Ronda too, and all the beautiful little white towns in the countryside.

Oh yes. Rhonda is pretty. I remember finding an old farmhouse once who served two hungry travellers the most amazing rabbit stew I have ever tasted. Um, not more talk of food. Does not bode well for a fast day

Right. Need to get showered and moving. See you soon :like: xx

Good day to all !!!

@Julieathome, hope you feel better :clover:
@PennyForthem, hope the first night with the pup went well :clover:
@Sue.QGreat news for your appointment :like:

My foot is still green/yellow on top but the bruise on the bottom seems to be gone. Very strange. Still hurts a bit so I don't know if I will be able to go for a ride tomorrow...

About the Christmas chocolate and treats, I still have 4 mince pies, I take one when I have breakfast, and 1 big Toblerone and a half. Plus the dessert chocolate I thought I would use to bake and I didn't but, as this one is not eatable on its own.... The best before date is may 15 so it should be fine... The Christmas chocolates were 50% off on thursday and there were quite a lot of them so I think they'll wait one week or two before the Valentine's day or Easter chocolates

And today is the king cake day (puff pastry and frangipane (almond paste), if you don't know it) so it should be fun. January is as a dangerous month for your diet than december, you may have to eat that cake everywhere you go until february....

 Thanks @callyanna Yes I'm moving in the right direction but can you believe it a Saturday appointment was talking to a lady in there and she says her sister went to a different hospital last Sunday!!! I've decided to sort myself out with other niggles so going to see my GP soon as possible and whether she likes it or not will be discussing 2 problems with her on the day and bloods due in February so all moving in a more healthy way and mostly thanks
to this WOL.

 Thanks @Manderley and the king cake sounds wonderful love marzipan mmmmmm
Yes January is the worst month for me also because of all the chocks + nibbles left but my OH is making a good job of polishing them away, so glad your foot is on the mend and if it needs another exercise free week then that's OK.

@Manderley, king cake day sounds amazing and a great excuse to eat cake, I love frangipane. What does it celebrate?

@rawkaren, I can't believe you are back already, that was a quick week. When is your next trip?

I feel a bit morose today - back to work proper tomorrow. Really fed up where I am working, especially as it is 10.10am and -3degrees at the moment. That means it will be freezing at work tomorrow as the heating doesn't work properly. It really gets me down going into work and it is only 8 degrees! I will be job hunting as soon as possible.

it's very simple, I make my own so if I can, everybody else can as well

You need 2 puff pastries
- 140 g almond powder
- 100 g caster sugar
- 2 eggs
- 75 g de butter at room temperature
- 1 egg yolk
1 charm to hide in the cake

Put one puff pastry and prick it with a fork

In a big bowl, mix the almond powder, the sugar, the 2 eggs and the butter

Put this paste on the top of the puff pastry and hide the charm in it

Put the second puff pastry on top of it and seal it to the first one

Sue, frangipane is completely different as marzipan, it's more a kind of cream

Draw what you want, gently with a knife and put some egg yolk

Cook for 20-30 minutes in a hot oven 200°C
