I sort of discovered this by accident, when I found myself driving round the corner to the local shop ... Without my glasses    - but found I could actually see! :victory:  :victory: Shocked but very pleased!   but new specs have cost an arm and leg

@candicemarie it's the 5:2 fitbit group. I didn't think I was competitive till I discovered it! Whole new side to my personality is emerging

@Azureblue and @silverdarling that sounds good. Hope it's the same for me. I have to wear reading glasses and I hate them. They are constantly on my head and I only have a little head so they slide off. Glasses don't suit me at all. Can't even have contacts nor laser.

Thank you @sue.q will let you know how long it takes to knock off. Just enjoying an iced coffee with coconut milk and dreaming of my holiday.

Oh and I hate this yellow banner. Gets in the way when I'm tagging.

@sue.q. Mallorca. Can't wait. Upgraded my lenses yesterday with progressives which save me from peering over my glasses when I look up from reading to talk to someone - makes me feel like a school maam. Also bought some prescription sunglasses. Never needed them in the UK as I didn't read too much in the sun, but here it is more challenging so I have succumbed. I agree about that flipping yellow banner!

Have a lovely time Callyanna!

Candy, that cat is super cute!

...and don't talk to me about glasses. I'm forever having to switch between two pairs. (You've seen my photo of me wearing both of them at the same time. Sometimes I wonder why everything is so blurry...I'm wearing the wrong glasses!!)

How are you getting on over in sunny California Karen? Are you settling in well now? We are currently trying to find out how to emigrate to Canada. We've decided we can't live the rest of our lives so far away from my sister and her boys. I can't WAIT to move over there...the houses are huge and SO cheap. Incredible! Just got to get used to lots of snow  Anyway, away from the snow, hope you enjoy your holiday in Mallorca. Have a lovely time together.

I still can't believe how long this particularly "Chatterbox" has lasted. Still, it seems we're picking up a bit now doesn't it. Long may it last...

Oooh @nursebean Canada! How exciting! I have wondered about going in the past then met friends who had but returned after five good years as they were homesick. Everyone's different of course, you'd be going to family, the best reason :0)

In other news, a third female I know has this month gone on holiday abroad with friends rather than spouse ("he doesn't like the sun/relaxing/ moans") and got me thinking should I? Would he survive/be mortally offended/care? Interesting innit. Thoughts?

Yes the one thing that makes my sister hesitate about staying in Canada is being so far from us. Well we can certainly fix that problem can't we! I think living there would be perfect...but I worry about getting my girls over there. Would they cope with a 7 hour flight in a crate? Poppy in particular is so sensitive. That's my biggest worry which is why it has to be the right decision because I don't want the girls flying more than once in their little lives.

Hmm not sure about leaving your partner behind for a holiday. I think its a bit strange. Wouldn't you want to enjoy new sights, sounds and smells with the love of your life? Mind you, I AM single so maybe I live in a little romantic, unrealistic bubble!!

Hello from me, just back from my holidays too. Two weeks in Florida sharing a villa with family and friends. Got back Sunday and as of today I'm only five lbs over what I weighed on the day we left. That was a 'new low' weight to boot, so I'm pretty happy really. It's hard to eat well when packing in the theme parks  There was a lot of stress going on as well, p,us I had my period smack bang in the middle of the holiday. Not a great combo

Stress on holiday you ask? Well we got a phone call the night before we left to say that the owners of the villa we had booked back in February had decided to cancel the booking. Supposedly THEY wanted to stay in it those weeks. The management company found us a substitute but it was vastly inferior. That was the Thursday night, still being negotiated just before we got on the plane on Friday after a four hour flight delay. Friday night we stayed in a hotel near the airport with my sister and BIL and Saturday we went to the substitute villa. The friends we were holidaying with, who had booked the original villa, took different flights and arrived at midnight Saturday, by which time rooms had been allocated and unpacking done... Long story short, hubby and I ended up moving rooms - (ending up a long way from the children which was not ideal) on Sunday to keep the peace. Sunday also saw us all making a list of immediate problems to be fixed such as lights not working, sinks not draining... So our holiday only really started on Monday :frown: Monday was great; we went to the space centre and by pure luck saw a rocket launch that was on its fourth attempt due to weather issues. Villa problems fixed when we got home, so we relaxed a bit. Then a couple of days later my sister had a message that her beloved elderly cat wasn't eating and was looking in a bad way. She and BIL ended up flying home on the Friday morning  The cat is still hanging in there btw. Fingers crossed, but she IS seventeeen...

After that it was a mad dash to pack in the theme parks as we had paid a fortune for tickets and lost several days that first week. The atmosphere in the villa was never what one could have hoped for. Very sad really. We got back on Sunday morning and are still jet lagged; it's really hit us hard. When I think back and remember that in 2001 I came home from Peru and ran a half marathon (having travelled from Heathrow to Newcastle to boot) the next day, I now understand why I then spent two days sleeping lol!

Anyway, that's enough from me for now. It's nice to be back

Blimey, @Winsome no wonder you didn't put on much weight. I should think you were too stressed! Glad you managed to enjoy SOME of your holiday though! And to see a rocket launch...that must have been something!

Glad to see you back

Welcome back @Winsome Well you've had a very different holiday no wonder you only had a small gain well done now you can catch up on some sleep and more importantly relaxation.

@Azureblue My mind had been going down the same path as yours recently re:: holidaying alone without OH yes mine would survive but don't think he'd like me going off without him but he takes mini breaks without me!!! -------- are all men selfish?
My sister goes off without her OH she goes with friends and sometimes daughters I suppose I could go I with them for a trial because we do all get on very well together.
Watch this space who knows? Or maybe you and me lol

Wouldn't it be lovely to get loads of members gathering together at a very classy 5star spa and pampering girly holiday.
