Hi buddies @gillymary@daydreamer21@Jools7And the elusive @Jo05
Well as I'm still in Greece (4hr delay) and its already Wednesday I'm vowing back2back willing fasts to repair some of the damage done on my holiday.
I'm getting on scales in the morning to find the results then full true fasts for Weds + Thurs
Will report back soon, what was your damage Jools?

hi guys, @daydreamer21, @sue.q, @gillymary, and @Jo05

Oh dear, the dreaded 4 hour delay, Sue! I had one before I even got off the ground in Melbourne when I left!! What a pain!

Back to backs, good luck, I actually did one in Singapore, it wasn't too bad (even better when it was over!)

Well, I'm pleased to report that I haven't gained any weight at all, and I'm back into my exercise with a vengeance this week. I think this was mostly due to doing as many fasts as poss, (up to ADF) and walking everywhere, even did a few gym sessions and then a relax in the rooftop 57th floor infinity pool in Singapore (just put that in to make you jealous! - it was nice, but I wouldn't pay 5.5 billion dollars for it!!!). Maybe I was also too busy to eat too much too, except at the organized dinners of course. And I had a roomie who kept me rather on the straight & narrow, bless her. Not because she was censorious, just one of those slightly austere people who lead by example.

Just glorious autumn weather here at the mo, very conducive to long bike rides and walking my step-dog (did 30 k ride, followed by an hour's walk last night) - had a bit of a carb craving after that, but I think I needed it!

@Jo05, are you wandering in the wilderness, darling? Please let us know how you are! I am reading a wonderful book at the moment, by Brene Brown, called "darling greatly" - all about shame resilience and how to develop it - and vulnerability and how to celebrate it - very inspiring!! Shame is such a big underlying hidden dynamic in my life; exposing it to the light of words & love is quite huge for me.

Thanks @CandiceMarie I actually feel awful everything seems to have caught up with me with the delay waiting around the airport for over 6hrs and the self inflicted carb overload ( another lesson learned the hard way)
You can pop in to visit anytime because we seem to have become a foursome again as @Jo05. is AWOL.

My fast hasn't gone completely to plan because hubby did a mini shop coz I was unwell yes he got the salad but also got 2 mini Belgium chock desserts!!! so not a true 500 fast but certainly a lot better than the previous 8days will do tomorrow then jump on scales Fri to update tracker won't be good news because I'm holding onto a gallon of water in each leg  Truthfully!!! That's how bad they are again but my tracker will be a truthful update then turn over a new leaf :like: Does that sound good @Jools7 & @gillymary
Time to make something of 2014 my promise.
@daydreamer21 How are you going on Sammy is your back a little easier? I've not been good today so haven't caught up with other threads

Take it easy @Sue.Q first of all, get some rest ..ease yrself back in and don't worry, you will soon drop that retained water x x

Don't worry @Sue.Q you will get back on track you have the tools. Maybe your trip was just the shot needed with feasting before your next foray back to regular IF. Sleep well as we know that is important too with fasting

Nice to see you here @CandiceMarie lovely welcome home for Sue.Q and it is wonderful to have jools back too on this thread.

Have been a bit remiss and not fitted in a full fast lately to me that is a fluid fast. Just busy and out and about. Might get a good fast day in on Saturday

Hello, fivesomers! @Gillymary, @sue.q, @daydreamer21,

Hope we are all well! Well, I heard some of us aren't great, poor Sue, I just find airport delays so frustrating, don't blame yourself too much for the carbs! Very understandable in the circumstances! Just forgive yourself and move on. Same with any weight gain, just say to yourself,"well THIS is what we're dealing with today!" Luckily I bought some good compression stockings in Singapore, so I didn't get the super-water retention-in-the-lower-legs thing that time, anyway. Does your OH know you're fasting? Or are they colluding with a saboteur in you? Can you say something gentle to them so they know you want them to support you, not sabotage you?

Hope you're going okay too, Gilly? Do I hear you're ADFing too? And how's the cooking going? I've got the day off today, so I'm hoping to make some yummy JO falafels to freeze for later - you're the cook, would you say it would be better to freeze them raw or cooked?

Ooh, currawong flying by my window, warbling - I love those birds! Not many birds in Singapore, well, not outside the sanctuary anyway. And only those bi-colour crows in Warsaw, I've been missing the birds!

And do I hear your back's been bad, Sammy? Hope it's getting better! Even though bad backs are my bread-and-butter as a Pilates teacher, it's hard to offer much over the internet. But let me know how it's going.

Oh, my step-dog! She's such a cutey, I missed her when I was OS, couldn't wait to walk her again! My friend who lives down by the beach in Ocean Grove fosters rescue dogs til they find a home. I was down there at the end of march helping her with her BAS, and I fell in love with this little girl. She's about a year old, kelpie cross from the Mildura pound. Very energetic, leaps like "superdog" with her front legs splayed forwards - all she needs is a cape! She is very friendly and gorgeous. I pined for her for 24 hours when I came back to Melbourne, but as I have a sensitive indoor rescue cat, I really couldn't inflict a dog on him. Then I thought," my ex and my 19-year-old (who live together) have been talking about getting a dog for ages, and she would be perfect for them."So, to cut a long story short, they ended up adopting her, and now we're all doing classes up at the RSPCA to learn how to manage & train her. Because they adopted her on the Grand Prix weekend (they're F1 fans), they called her Kimi, after Kimi Rykonnen (sp?) the flying Finn. They didn't know then that they also had speed and flying in common!

Anyway, fasting today, doing some HIIT in a mo. This is such a long post already, but I got some wonderful blood results yesterday. Maybe I'll write that in another string.

Love to all!

Jools xx

@jools7 I would freeze them raw then cook them as you go if you want the crispy just cooked texture which might get lost if you freeze after cooking. Especially so if you are just eating falafel, veg and salsa. But if doing the wraps it would not matter I would think. You are often time poor so in that instance how good would it be to just defrost and reheat. By the way great recipe have the book back into circulation, I forgot about it and I will do some falafel myself today but I am lazy I have a packet in the pantry, picked up some a couple of weeks ago. JO recipe looks great and I will make as great for wrap innards for DH lunches

I did ADF for a fortnight, it worked for me as I was on holidays so when back to being busier I seem to get caught up with meals out etc and find it harder to stick to that many fast days. I am semi maintaining now so it's no biggie. Was heartened to have some losses though. It it took ADF to do it, shift my plateau, not wanting that much fasting though as I would not sustain it. Take my hat off to ADF stalwarts

:geek: Hi buddies @gillymary@daydreamer21@Jools7 @Jo05
Post holiday bad news as expected is 4kg gain!!
Happy with that considering could have been double that
Was worse on Wednesday morning deffo, being on double diuretics since then and there's improvement thankfully,
Jools I have forgiven myself completely for the damage done because holidays are for enjoying especially at my age, however I now regret certain things and lessons learned once again which is important to learn from my mistakes, on the subject of compression socks I have to get my socks made to measure and couldn't get them on the last day should have persevered through the pain barrier then perhaps they wouldn't have been so bad.
My back2back didn't go completely to plan but considering the previous 8days I'm happy kicking in with 2 very low calorie days plus a 19:5 today then a cautious weekend before kicking in with vigour, unfortunately exercise is off for the moment but will be resumed asap
gillymary how are thing for you? ADF wouldn't work for me either because of the weekend but 4:3 fits in well and I believe was the reason for my phenomenal success,
how's Max doing? all mended I hope, must take a look at JO recipes sounding good can't be doing with him though for some reason, i have tried a few "hairy bikers" recipes which are good.
I'm off to get a mammogram screening (oouchhh)
Then the food shopping and fill the fridge with lots of salad goodies, hubbys mini shop in week was rubbish. Lol
:clover: :clover: :clover: :clover:

Edit to add @CandiceMarie Your new avatar photograph is really lovely and no way are you looking anywhere near the age you're telling us.
