I wonder if removal of the link will effect this forum's Google standing? Any techie nerds know?

Do you mean the removal of the link off thefastdiet or this forum?

It's hard to say with Google, some will say yes, some will say no, fact is, no-one can predict Google's behaviour :0) (that was helpful wasn't it lol!)
I found this forum through Google too. I look in several times a day even though I don't post much.
I only knew about the 'official site' because I saw the link on here and I looked at it once but found it very lame.
I add my thanks to everyone involved in this forum :)
Boooo. SSSSSSS. Shame on them!

Fantastic forum and really helpful.

I really appreciate having this forum available. A big thank you Moogie, Caroline, Dominic and any others who help to run this forum.

I have just recommended this 'diet' to a friend and gave him the website address to this forum. Oops forgot about the official fast diet website. Now what does that tell you?

....Oh and another thing, rant rant, One of the reasons why I joined this forum was that you seem to be gathering some very useful data, Caroline is a whizz at correlating the information into statistics. I wanted to play a small part in adding to that data. I assumed that eventually those on the official fast diet website would want to use the info that you have gathered?

Hmm, very little money to be made from this diet, book has been done. Wonder what is next. Just food for thought.
Yes, I had hoped DrM might have been interested in the progress tracker. But if we get some good results, which reveal useful info perhaps we can publish it ourselves!
They should hang their heads in shame :-o
It's strange how one looks at things. Until this happened I definitely felt myself to be in some sense a disciple of Dr M - a fastdieter if you like.

I no longer feel that. I am now a 52fastdieter. The science and the community are here. Thanks Dr M for showing us why and how to set about this, we can take it from here...
I suspect it's out of his hands now. Someone smelt the money.

I always wanted to publish an elegant piece of research. :-)
Not sure it will be too elegant due to self-selection, self-reporting etc but could be interesting nonetheless!
Hi
I have only read the first page of comments but they all speak truth.
Moogie, Caroees, PhilT and all the other mods and community members is what makes this place so helpful and comforting when you need a hug if things are bad
I did look at the official site but it sisnt do anything for me.
Keep up the good work and if you need any help i'm sure the members will oblige

Er yes if you say so PennyForthem

 Doh! How silly!
Of course I meant thanks from me for setting it up! I usually proof read, too!

Mosley is all about the money.

Agreed, and the scientific discussion here seems more substantial to me.
A non-prophet website.

And Moogie, thanks for the tracker, the stats, and the friendly but and competent tone that you and carorees set from the beginning!
I've been doing 5:2 for a few weeks now but this is my first official 'post'. I tend not to like forums because they can sometimes have members who dominate the boards and are snarky in their responses. However the members on this forum all appear to be supportive of one another, which is a refreshing change.
I live in Canada and have started to see small articles appearing in magazines and newspapers here ('New Diet all the Rage in The UK!') although the documentary has not aired. I'm wondering if perhaps they are looking to keep everything (ie any potential profits) in-house in preparation for a launch in North America?
Hi Ontariomom and welcome to the forum! Thanks for your compliments about the supportive nature of this place, it is all true and (to pick up on what CoffeeCat just wrote) it is all credit to Caroline and Moogie for setting the tone and maintaining it. We don't seem to get flame wars here - but if you ever see anything you are unhappy about, just report the post, we want to keep it friendly. And we will (stamps foot)

The book has already launched in the US where it is riding high in the bestseller list, I am not sure about Canada. But it doesn't tell you anything you can't find out here. I would however recommend the documentary, partly just for interest but also because some of us keep referring to it and it means you won't be out of the loop. There's a link near the end of the short answers FAQ.
The book is available in Canada as well, although we have so few bookstores left here it's challenging to find anything that doesn't make it into Walmart or Costco! I did purchase the book online a while ago.
I have also noticed in the last few weeks there have been a lot of little segments on the American entertainment shows about the diet. In the past, this has generally been followed up by an appearance of the authors on the daytime talk shows promoting their books. Not sure if Dr M has done this or not. The weight-loss industry is big business in North America, especially in the US, and I suspect this diet will be far more popular on this side of the 'pond' the near future.
Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the link. I will be sure to watch it.
