Anyone in need of a good laugh listen to what happened to me today! It was a beautiful morning, cloudless blue sky, not a breath of wind so decided to don my walking boots and get out in the fresh air to get my steps in before that @carieoates gets too far ahead of me again! Any hoo, set off on a local walk I've done before but stupidly decided to take a different, longer footpath home across farm land. Eventually reached a farm yard with enough mud to accommodate several hippos and noticed that straw bales had been laid across the deepest section. Thinking that was my best way forward I gingerly stepped on to a bale only to find my feet being sucked down into the foul mire and with mud oozing over my boots I completely lost my balance and ended up sitting in the sea of mud! Eventually struggled to my feet and crawled out but then had to walk another good mile home with my feet squelching and my bum and back plastered with mud!
Anyone seeing me ( and there were several people walking home from Remembrance Day
services), must have thought I'd had an unfortunate case of the runs as the back of my jacket and trousers were a suspicious looking colour!
Had to completely strip off down to my soaking knickers when I got home and chuck the lot in the wash!

rawkaren wrote: Nice Sunday so far. Yesterday afternoon I did a segway tour of Golden Gate Park with a friend, stayed over in the city for the night and went to a great restaurant on the waterfront. Just got back home. It's alot cooler here today but the sun is still out so need to go shopping now to get a birthday present for my sister before I go home on Thursday. I'm downloading Strictly so I can watch when I get in. I don't go onto the forum until after I have seen the results show because I don't want to know the result! So catch you all later!

Do you watch both Strictly and Dancing with the Stars @rawkaren? You must be all glittered out!

@carorees. Yes I do watch both programs if I get the time, but it is not always possible. I marvel that Bruno and Len can do both programs. It makes my travel look like a piece of cake compared to what they do. @callyanna, you just gave me a laugh. I bet that mud was freezing cold. You must have felt like a bit of a numpty, but you probably made someone's day with the entertainment value. At least you got your steps in
Gosh @Callyanna, hope you're ok. You could have disappeared forever down there.
Don't worry I've been very lazy today. Prob because I didn't get my marathon training in.

I'm fine thanks! My son had just arrived with my two grandsons and they thought it was hilarious!
@callyanna - you definitely added meaning to REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY.
Thinking about it I should have gone the whole hog and given myself a proper mud bath and face pack while I was at it!
Sometimes, when paddling, we end up scrambling up and down steep, muddy banks. My DH and I usually sing The Hippopotamus Song:

I have a good story to complement @Callyanna's - happened just a couple of days ago.
Daughter and son were out walking. Son turned his ankle a bit on the curb, and just as daughter was saying "Watch out!" he lost his balance, stepped off curb into a large puddle of disgusting looking and smelling brown muck. Which splashed over his pants (trousers to you, perhaps) and up to his shirt as well. Daughter laughed her head off telling us this. They were just passing the hardware store, so they stopped and he went into the restroom. Daughter thought he was just going to wipe off the worst. But he was in there quite a while...
He came out sopping wet. He had taken off his pants and shirt and washed them in the sink! Several guys came in and discovered there was no soap in the dispenser, and gave him looks wondering if he'd used it all doing his laundry. Standing there in his boxer shorts...
Then on the 3 mile walk back to our house, he was starting to get blisters from his soaked shoes, so he took them off and walked home barefoot. Really wish I had seen all this
oh dear @callyanna and @wendyjane!

I have been at a zoo today - the rhino's field was extremely churned up and muddy - I was thinking how difficult it would be for a poor zookeeper if for any reason they had to cross it!

reminds me of when we were on a Duke of Edinburgh's expedition and trying to cross a ditch and one of our group ended up stuck knee-deep in mud!
Thanks for giving me a bedtime giggle@callyanna and @wendyjane! XX
Good job you have a sense of humour and can see the funny side of these unexpected dilemmas!
@callyanna A mud bath, from time to time, is good for the skin, some people pay very expensive fees to have it done to them on purpose

First time up in a week  The boiler was broken for 3 weeks, until a friend of my dad worked on it as a favor (it's really really difficult to get a repairman these days). Because it was freezing inside (16°C or 60.8°F) I had to deal with a asthmatic bronchitis and couldn't get up for a week. It's my first fast since then as well which feels great. :victory:

Up to do some housework with music of the 80s in my ears
