After I was on IF for a week, OH noticed that my face was thinner--I didn't see it myself until a week later--Yay! No more chipmunk cheeks

In a couple of months I went from US size 14 to size 12 and could start wearing again those clothes that had been too tight for 5 years :victory:

Hi@Sassy1.
Thanks. I haven't joined the maintenance tent yet, because I'm trying to decide whether it is appropriate to go any further. When I set my target I felt that I would have little chance of meeting it, so I really don't know if it might be worth going a little further or not. Nobody has said that I look too scrawny and I'm still some distance away from my lowest adult weight. I'll hang around here for a while whilst I consider things.

Hi again @Bracken, I understand where you are coming from! I wonder if you can get another goal set in your tracker?? Have you shared your tips somewhere for what has worked well for you? Best wishes for the next part of your journey. :)

Hi@Sassy 1.
I think I need a little thinking time before I make a decision about whether to go any further. I'll write something about my journey soon. It has been an eventful year, so there's lots to talk about, including a pause in the process because I was worried about being too small for my wedding dress, after it had been altered twice. I then discovered that I had a health problem and had major surgery last week, so I need to be gentle with myself at the moment.

@Bracken - just to say that I hope you're recovering well from whatever surgery it was - take care of yourself.

Oh @Bracken, sorry to hear about your health issues. I think now is time to concentrate on ensuring you are as well as possible, and come back to issues re weight once that is settled. Given you have had an eventful year, being gentle on yourself should certainly be something you are doing. :) I look forward to reading your story. :) Best wishes.

Bracken,

So sorry to hear about the surgery. Eat lots of protein and keep your carbs as low as you can go without making yourself miserable. That will really help speed the healing of any tissues that were cut. Doctors don't stress this enough, but it makes a real difference in the speed of healing.

Wow Faith - love that you can now see more of your furniture...
My NSV has been buying smaller knickers! They sell John Lewis knicks in my local Waitrose and I discovered I could wear a 12 in my preferred 'full brief' style a few weeks ago. So yesterday I decided to get some size 10s so I had something to aim for. When I got them home I discovered they were 'shorts' not full briefs - ie much more low-slung - and guess what, I've been wearing them today!! NB I am nowhere near a size 10 in the rest of my clothes, but have still gone down a size since starting this woe

I have to say I have been struggling with fasting these past 2 weeks. However I do have a NSV. I was shopping looking at coats and a women was trying a coat on. Could tell she didn't like how she looked. As I was walking away she came up and asked me for my opinion because she "loved" my style. That made me feel good and yes found her a smart looking coat

I'm really chuffed because there are a couple of things I couldn't do when I started my exercise classes about 6 weeks ago which I can now! (Triceps dips - too much upper body weight I think, and yanking your leg up behind you to stretch your quads - my legs were just too big!)

Who knows what will be next? (I've never been able to do monkey bars but that might be a touch ambitious!)

I've been 5:2-ing since May 2013, and although I've lost weight the scales have always lagged behind the other 'symptoms' such as more room in clothes etc. In fact I went down a dress size entirely before the scales showed any difference! NSV's I've noticed are things like not giving myself tummy ache from sitting down all day in too-tight jeans  and in fact being able to wiggle out of said jeans without unzipping! I'm still at least 14lbs away from goal weight and STILL have an 'overweight' BMI, but OH is even muttering 'hope you're not going to get too much thinner'
Anyway, here's some before and during pics - the first one was April 2013, the middle one October 2013 (in same clothes, for comparison) and the last one was last week, same style of top but in a size smaller, and even that looking a bit baggy now. I now reach for size 14 (UK) in jeans/trousers and size 12 in tops/dresses, from previously being a tight 16. So scales be damned!!
